I'm a girl and this shower gel is supposedly for boys but I absolutely adore Issey Miyake aftershave, so when I bought my husband a gift set for Christmas (hehe!) I was pleased to see it contained shower gel. Now it did stay in the gift box for quite some time, I think he just forgot about it, tut! When he did finally get around to using it, I couldn't help having a try myself.
** What did I think? **
I loved it, it comes out clear and smooth, it lathered up quite well on my pouffe ball thingy (I have no idea what these things are called??). It left my skin feeling lovely and soft and smelling absolutely delicious. The smell reminds me of sweets, I don't think it's a masculine scent at all but at the same time, I do love the smell of it on my husband (he is quite feminine though to be fair).
** What did he think? **
He loved it too! Although he didn't find it lathered up very well on his hands (he should've tried my pouffe thing!) and therefore used quite a lot to wash his whole body. He says the scent stayed on his body all day.
** Specifics **
The tube we had was in a 75ml and came in a Christmas gift set along with a 30ml body lotion (I didn't get around to trying that, damn!) and a 50ml EDT, it was around £40 if I remember correctly. I just Googled the gift set and it looks like it's available online from Feel Unique but having never used this website, I can't vouch for their reliability.
You can buy a 200ml bottle of the shower gel on its own from selected retailers including John Lewis (£19.50), Feel Unique (£17) and various other shops, I haven't heard of any of them though.
The fragrance is described as woody, spicy and citrus and also being very masculine, which I don't agree with but hey that's just me. It's also described as being fresh which I definitely do agree with and I really did feel and smell lovely after using this in the shower.
The sample bottle was a very simple, basic tube with the lid at the bottom, all white with black writing. The full size bottle looks to be a very similar shape to the EDT bottle, rectangle with sharp edges, the bottle is clear with black writing on and the lid is at the top.
According to the John Lewis website it contains Aquaexpert that helps moisturise the skin.
I'm not quite sure I'd personally pay £19.50 for this, not for 200ml anyway (not when I can get a huge 500ml bottle of Soap and Glory Clean on Me for less than £6). I will keep an eye out for it being on offer though and would probably buy some then.
** Summary **
It's a deliciously fresh smelling shower gel that lathers up really well when used with a pouffe thing (I'm going to find out what they're called!) but doesn't lather up well in your hands. It has a very long lasting scent and leaves your skin feeling soft.
