Jean Paul Gaultier Classique is a fragrance which I adore, in-fact it is my signature scent. The fragrance was first launched around 8 or more years ago and it is still a very popular fragrance with the younger and older generation of women as the scent is fresh, floral and sweet smelling. As well as the perfume you can also purchase Classique fragranced bath and body products as well which help to layer and compliment the scent of the perfume. Anyone whom has ever worn or smelt Jean Paul Gaultier Classique perfume will know that it is quite a strong smelling scent which has excellent long lasting staying power. However everyone's skin types are different and some people may notice that the scent of the perfume doesn't really last long on their skin. It is normally people whom have dry or oily skin who will notice that the scent of perfumes, body lotions, shower gels etc don't last long on their skin. If you have this problem with the staying power of perfumes then you would really benefit from using the complimentary bath and body products as these act as a layer for the perfume to adhere to therefore increasing the longevity of the scent on your skin.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classique shower gel can be bought from most larger perfume stores or alternatively online however the price for the shower gel can cost a small fortune depending on where you purchase it from; so looking around for a cheaper deal is probably your best bet if you like the sound of this shower gel. A 200ml bottle of the shower gel can cost anything between £18-£24 however you might be able to grab yourself a bargain on eBay if your lucky and get the shower gel at a much cheaper price. One thing I really love about the Jean Paul Gaultier fragrances is the packaging and even with the shower gel the packaging is still top notch as it is really creative and decorative in appearance. Just like the perfume Jan Paul Gaultier Classique shower gel is supplied In a cylindrical tin container which in my opinion looks like an oversized tin of baked beans the only apparent difference is the fact that the Jean Paul Gaultier name is embellished onto the tin container. Inside the tin container you will find a well presented female torso which is in-fact the bottle of shower gel. The shape of the torso is of a voluptuous woman and not your typical size 0 model, the only difference between the packaging for the shower gel and the perfumes is the fact that the shower gel bottle is made from plastic and not glass and it has less shape and design. Basically the shower gel bottle is made from a squeezable plastic material which is a light creamy peach colour and has the Jean Paul Gaultier name and fragrance name printed onto it in gold metallic lettering which adds a little bit of sophistication to the packaging design and appearance.
Sometimes whenever I purchase a new beauty product whether it be a shower gel, body lotion, shampoo or conditioner I am usually left feeling disappointed by my purchase as sometimes they can either be too thin in consistency, smell horrible or they don't leave your skin/hair feeling any different when the product claims to be a moisturising lotion or similar. But with this shower gel I was extremely impressed with every aspect of it and is one of the main reasons I have bought another bottle of it regardless of the high price tag. The shower gel inside the tube/bottle is of a medium thick consistency, I would say that the consistency of the shower gel is fairly similar to that of Fairy Liquid although maybe just a little thinner. The shower gel has a gel like appearance and is fairly clear in colour although you do notice a slight pearlescent appearance shining through it when it reflects the light. With some shower gels you don't actually smell the fragrance from them as soon as you dispense them from the actual packaging onto your hand/sponge, you normally just smell the aroma from them when you start to work them into your skin and produce a lather. But with this actual shower gel the aroma hits you as soon as you start to dispense it from the packaging.
The medium thick consistency of the shower gel means that you don't actually have to use that much of it in order to get bathed with. I normally dispense the shower gel onto a bath puff and find that one blob the size of a ten pence piece is a more than adequate amount to get washed with; however if you aren't going to use a bath puff or a sponge and you prefer to use the shower gel on your hand you will find that you will use double if not treble the amount which in my opinion is just a waste of a perfectly good shower gel. Another downside to using the shower gel on your hand as opposed to a sponge or similar is the fact that you don't get a particularly good lather, where as with a sponge or bath puff the shower gel creates an extremely thick, creamy and bubbly lather almost instantly on your skin. The thick and creamy lather from the shower gel feels nice and soft on your skin as you are using it, it doesn't feel harsh nor does it make your skin feel itchy or irritated; instead it feels as if the shower gel is moisturising and caring for your skin. Also I find that the shower gel rinses off your skin really easily and effortlessly despite the sheer thickness and creaminess of it and it doesn't leave a sticky or tacky residue on your skin or in and around the bath/shower.
After I got fully washed and dried I noticed that my skin felt a lot smoother and softer than it did before I used the shower gel, and it was also highly fragranced; which is due to the fact that the shower gel does have a strong fragrance. Even although the fragrance of the shower gel is strong, it isn't a strong heady scent which would give you a sore head, it has more of a fresh sweet strong aroma. The fragrance from the shower gel really does linger on my skin for quite sometime, usually shower gels only fragrance my skin for approximately 4 hours or so before they fade away; but with Jean Paul Gaultier Shower Gel the fragrance lingered on my skin for almost eight hours before it could no longer be smelt on my skin. The fragrance from the shower gel also lingers in the bathroom as well for a short time, the fragrance lingers in the air for up to an hour and a half before it gradually starts to fade away.
The scent which the shower gel leaves on my skin is absolutely gorgeous, and it smells almost identical to that of the complimentary perfume although the shower gel has more of a sweeter and slightly more muskier aroma than what the fragranced perfume does. The Jean Paul Gaultier Shower Gel smalls mainly of sweet vanilla and sweet musk which is complimented my the warm and rich aroma of Amber which is complimented by a very subtle orange aroma which adds a little fruity element to the scent so as it doesn't smell as sweet and musky. You can also detect a very light and subtle rose aroma which adds a little richness and floral twist to the fragrance creating depth and warmth as well as giving the scent a more uplifting aroma. I think that this shower gel combined with the use of the body lotion and the perfume creates a wonderful rich long lasting and sweet aroma. The perfume itself has relatively great staying power but if you combine it with the other Jean Paul Gaultier Classique fragranced products in the range then the scent lasts on your skin for well over 15 hours or so; therefore you don't need to use as much perfume; which is an excuse for me as I say to hubby that if I buy the other fragranced products in the range then I wont spend as much on a big bottle of the Classique perfume.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classique is described as having the following fragrance notes ~
Top notes of Lemon, Mandarin, Orange and Rose;
Middle notes of Ylang-Ylang, Ginger and Jasmine;
Base notes of Cinnamon, Cedar, Amber and Vanilla.
Jean Paul Gaultier Classique and other fragranced bath and body products can be bought in store from most larger perfume or department stores such as John Lewis, Debenhams or Boots or alternatively you could also try some online retailers as well. I usually find that beauty products and cosmetics are far cheaper online as opposed to buying them in store, so you can save some money and treat your self to another couple of things if you buy online because that's what I do.
A 200ml bottle of the shower gel should last you approximately 8 weeks or so if you are using it on a daily basis, however if you are only going to use it every now and again then it will last you a longer length of time. When you have opened and started using a bottle of the shower gel you have up to 12 months to finish it before it needs throwing out, so it has quite a good shelf life for those who are only going to use it every so often.
The prices for the Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Shower Gel and other fragranced bath and body products in the range are as follows and have been quoted from the Escentual website ~
200ml Beauty cream £34.50
200ml Beauty Lotion £24
20ml Eau De Parfum Roll On £27
100ml Eau De Parfum £62
50ml Eau De Parfum £47
30ml Eau De Parfum £30
200ml Shower Gel £22
I think that Jean Paul Gaultier Classique Shower Gel is a fantastic product as it not only highly fragrances your skin but it also moisturises and he best thing about the shower gel is the fact that it is supplied in really elegant and decorative packaging. The only disadvantage about the product is the fact that it is quite expensive to buy. This is a gorgeous fragranced shower gel which I'm sure that most people will like. If you like fragrances such as Rare Gold or Musk then I'm sure you will love this scent as well as they are all fairly similar.
