      Worth a try

Over the years I have used many Johnsons products and when I saw these shower gel's available I thought that I would give it a go.

I brought the gel from Boots at around £1.99 which I think is pretty decent for 250ml bottle from a well known and respected make. The product is easily recognizable through the shape of the bottle and clearly has the johnsons logo on the the front of the bottle so you dont have to spend ages trying to find it on the shelf!

When I first used this product I firstly noticed the light aroma from the gel. I thought it was quite a soft smell and was nice but it wasn't such a refreshing smell. It smelt rather of moisurisers I had used in the past, which isnt a bad thing but it didnt exactly leaving me feeling refreshed.

When I applied the product to my skin I found that it was quite slippery and at first I wasted loads as I just let it slide off me. You need to really rub this gel into the skin and you'll find that it gains more of a soapy lather and it will spread further! When I got out of the shower though I definatly felt clean and noticed that my skin was silky smooth and soft.

I have used other products in the past which have brought out small patches of eczema that I had as a child. Although the other products did not itch or sting in anyway, I have found that since using Johnsons pure balance the patches of eczema have considerably reduced and that's just after a few tries.

I would definatly buy this again although I would also like to try out there other ranges of shower gel!

        Johnson's Pure Balance Shower Gel

I bought this shower gel months and months ago as part of a buy one get one free offer in Boots. I had previously tried the first bottle, which was their Pure Energy Shower Gel, and quite liked it - it had a lovely jelly-like consistency and a fresh, scent. I then moved on to try a couple of shower gels from other brands I had purchased, and only recently got round to trying this one.

        ~Packaging~

The shower gel comes in a bottle like the one pictured above. I like the fact that many of the Johnson's product come in bottles that are the same shape, as it makes it instantly recognisable as the Johnson's brand when you are in store. The bottle is plastic and has a sort of frosted appearance through which you can see the pale yellow gel.

        ~Using it~

This product is described as containing gentle cleansers, a light fresh aroma and botanical orchid extract and is so gentle it will not irritate the skin - important for me as I have eczema.

Unlike the last Johnson's shower gel I tried which was a bit like jelly, this one has a smooth, creamy consistency - I would actually probably describe it as a shower cream rather than gel. I found that on it's own there was very little lather from this, although this did improve when used with a shower puff. A lot of the time I use shower gel to shave my legs rather than buying a separate shaving gel, but I found that this wasn't really suitable for that, as it sort of slid off my skin.

I was surprised by the smell of the shower gel too. It has a quite powdery, floral smell to it, which although they describe it as 'a light, fresh aroma' I would actually say it was quite a heavy scent. It reminded me of the sort of strong, floral talcum powders that my Gran would use!

        ~Results~

There's no doubt that it leaves skin clean - and even washes off fake tan well, as I found last night. It didn't irritate my skin, which is an important thing for me, however it did leave my skin feeling quite dry the first time I used it. Now I am at the end of the bottle I've found that it's not as bad as when I first started using it, so maybe my skin has become used to it, but it's something to bear in mind.

        ~Price~

This cost about £1.99 from Boots for a 250ml bottle.

        ~Conclusion~

After liking the Johnson's Pure Energy shower gel so much, I was really looking forward to trying this one, however I ended up being quite disappointed. The two main points for me when I buy shower gel is that they smell nice, so I enjoy using them, and they don't irritate my skin. Although it didn't irritate, I found it quite annoying that it left my skin feeling dried out, and I hated the smell, so needless to say, I will not be buying this again.
