After trying out one of my boyfriends shower gels the other day I thought I would try a different one today. The next one I came to on his shelf was Joop Homme shower gel.
The gel is in a tube that stands up on its lid. It is very dark coloured, I can't tell whether it is black or a very dark brown, with turquoise writing on it. There is 150 ml of gel in a new tube.
The lid was a bit stiff to flick open but the shower gel was easy enough to squeeze out, in fact as soon as I had opened the tube the gel started to ooze out of the bottom so had to turn it up the other way. The lid shut again nicely and I can't see any signs of it having leaked in the past so must be a tight fit which is great when you have one of these tubes that are upside down.
I didn't use too much gel as I found the smell very strong, just used a little bit and it lathered up well although I didn't think it lathered as well as the Joop one I tried the other day. I certainly didn't want to wash my hair with it. The gel was a nice pink colour and looked nice and soapy, it didn't have any bits in it, just the gel.
I found that after washing with it, even though I didn't use a lot I could still smell it for a while. This would be excellent for a bloke as it really smells nice on men but I wasn't that keen on the scent for myself. It did the job though and I was clean and fresh.
The perfume that makes up Joop contains a lot of different scents including honeysuckle,, jasmine cinnamon, bergamot and orange blossom. It also has sandalwood, patchouli, amber, tonka bean, musk, vanilla and vetiver. I used to love the smell of patchouli when I was a teenager so was glad to see they had included it in this perfume. Mind you I can not really smell the patchouli, it is mostly a flowery scent, a bit rose like more than anything. I do like it when my boyfriend uses the shower gel and the eau de toillette though, it is my favourite smell that he uses. Therefore I am giving this gel a 5 star rating as it is supposed to be for blokes anyway.

Some time ago my husband got a Joop! Homme gift set for Christmas; he really likes all of the Joop fragrances, but Joop! Homme is his all time favourite. The Joop! Homme gift set which he received consisted of a bottle of Joop! Homme eau de toilette, a tube of shower gel and a tube of shaving balm. The gift set wasn't really expensive and only cost about £28-30 for all three items, which is really good value for money considering a 75ml bottle of Joop! Homme eau de toilette costs £30. Most of the time when I am buying a perfume for myself or my husband I always tend to purchase the git set because you get more for your money and you also get the bath and body products which compliment and layer the scent of the perfume.
The picture at the top of this review is incorrect and doesn't resemble the Joop! Homme shower gel we have. The packaging for the shower gel we have is a tall plastic tube which is deep plum in colour and also has a chunky screw on/off plastic lid. Personally I think that the tube of shower gel is really plainly designed and doesn't have much details on it. The only details on the tube is that it is Joop! Homme and it is a shower gel and it states how many millilitres are in it. I prefer shower gels which have see through packaging simply because you can easily see how much of it you are using and how much is remaining inside the tube/bottle. In this instance the packaging isn't see through, which doesn't really bother me because this is my husbands shower gel and not mines.
Now most of the time when I purchase perfumed shower gels or moisturisers which compliment a fragrance I am really disappointed with them because their consistency is either too thick or too runny, or they don't smell nice. But in this instance the shower gel is actually quite thick and resembles a coloured gel. The shower gel lathers up fairly quickly because it is quite thick; although you do get more of a lather with this if you use a sponge; if you apply it using your hands you will notice that you don't really get much of a lather and you have to use a lot more of it. If you apply the shower gel using a sponge you will only have to use a small blob the size of a 20 pence piece in order to get fully washed with. After you have bathed using this shower gel you will notice that your skin feels a little softer than before and of course it will smell highly fragranced.
The fragrance from the body wash is gorgeous and most definitely masculine, it smells really similar to the perfume/aftershave. The fragrance which this shower gel leaves on your skin is fairly long lasting, you should still notice the fragrance lingering on your skin a few hours after you have bathed/showered. The scent which the shower gel leaves on your skin is quite strong although its not overpowering and wont mask any deodorants you choose to wear. You will also notice that the smell from the shower gel lingers in the bathroom for an hour or so after you have used it; and I think it makes the bathroom smell really nice even although it is a manly fragrance.
The actual fragrance from the shower gel is almost identical to the perfume although it doesn't seem to have as much of a fruity/floral fragrance which reflects the top notes of the perfume. The shower gel also has a much lighter fresher scent than the perfume does although the fragrance from the shower gel does linger on the skin for a good few hours. The shower gel has a lovely spicy/musky aroma which has an ever so subtle floral undertone; although there is a slight floral undertone this doesn't give the fragrance a feminine scent, it is most definitely a masculine scent. There is a wide range of fragrance notes in Joop! Homme although the most prominent and identifiable ones are the Musk, Vanilla, Amber, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Patchouli Oil, Cinnamon and Jasmine.
Joop! Homme perfume and shower gel are described as having blends of Bergamot, Cinnamon, Orange Blossom, Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Sandalwood, Vetiver, Patchouli Oil, Amber, Tonka Beans, Musk and Vanilla.
If you use the shower gel before applying the perfume to your skin you will notice that this gives the fragrance more staying power; because you are applying a base for the perfume to stick to. Although I doubt that you need to layer the scent of Joop! Homme because it is a really long lasting fragrance. People who have slightly dry skin will find that the scent doesn't last long on their skin so therefore you might have to layer the scent in order to achieve better staying power. If you are using Joop! Homme Eau De Toilette than you don't really need to layer the scent because the perfume alone has a staying power of approximately 12 hours, I think that you only need to layer the scent of you are using the after shave format because aftershaves only have a short staying power of approximately 1-2 hours maximum.
Joop! Homme can be bought from most larger department stores such as Boots or Debenhams. You can also purchase it from online retailers too although prices may differ depending on where you purchase it from so it is a good idea to look around for the best deal possible. A 200ml tube of Joop! Homme can be bought from John Lewis and costs £18, as well as the shower gel you can also purchase other Joop! Homme fragranced products to compliment and layer the scent of the perfume/aftershave.
200ml tube of shower gel £18
75ml bottle of Joop! Homme Eau De Toilette costs between £27-35
125ml bottle of Joop! Homme Eau De Toilette costs between ££40-48
Joop Homme Aftershave costs between £19-24 depending on where you purchase it from.
