This product has to be one of my favourites and one I do not like to be without if I can help it. This shower oil from L''Occitane is almond in flavour and smells delicious. I first got into it when I went into my local L''Occitane for some shea butter products and saw the almond range and asked one of the assistants what the oil was like. She demonstrated to me how lovely it is by putting some on my hand and adding water, the oil feels so soft and luxurious and smelt divine. This can be used all over and is a real treat. I use this in the bath or shower and love how soft my skin feels. It can be used alongside other products within the almond range or on its own. According to L''Occitane, almond is great for softening the skin and this shower oil does not disappoint. Although my skin is not dry at all it definitely felt softer after the first use. L''Occintane also states that ?skin looks and feels more smoothed and toned, and the body feels reshaped?. I have to admit my skin doesn''t feel reshaped, nor did I expect a miracle such as that but this all the same will not disappoint. I have since brought products from the almond range for my sister and a close friend, both of whom think I am wonderful at choosing gifts. I also use the Almond milk concentrate which I would 100% recommend, furthermore I would recommend any L''Occitane product. Although some may be put off by the price I would suggest it can be kept as a little treat or made to last and is well worth it. I cannot imagine one reason why someone would not LOVE this, unless of course they do not like the smell of almond. If I am honest I didn''t think I would fancy it but I''ve been surprised and very glad I do, as is my skin.
L'Occitane as a range is a real luxury and feels like a treat to use, there are many of their products which I love and will mostly get as gifts because they are quite expensive but always feel like a real treat. I first got almond oil as a gift but will never be without it now as it is so beautiful on the skin.
Almond shower gel comes in a clear plastic bottle in varying sizes, the lid is silver plastic. So although the packaging is quite simple I really like it and it always looks good in the bathroom. The L'Occitane information is on the front just showing the basic information.
....Price and Availability....
There are a number of places you can get L'Occitane almond shower gel from, these include
* L'Occitane website, 250ml is £16.00
* Debenhams, 250ml is £16.00
* Asos, 250ml is £16.00
* QVC is somewhere I always keep an eye on for offers or packs including almond shower gel as sometimes it works out as a bargain when buying a number of products. For £41.50 you can get 3 x 250ml, or 2 x500ml for £43.50.
Although this is a shower gel I find it great to use in both the bath and shower but the shower is always my favourite. I always apply this straight onto skin, when it is applied onto wet skin the texture is smooth and silky and is lovely to rub in and then when rinsed the skin is left so soft. Almond Oil is always really good to be used for shaving as it protects the skin and is really smooth but ensures a close shave with moisturised skin. The smell left on your skin is beautiful but not too strong so perfume can still be used, the scent is really hard to describe, it's like a mix between almond and honey - beautiful!
I absolutely love this product and will continue to use it as a treat but due to the price it is not a shower product which I use all the time, it is always lovely to get for Christmas or birthdays. Also, this is a shower gel which I feel is reliable as I can have sensitive skin but know this will always be safe to use. and is a product to always go back to.
The L'occitane story begins in 1976, in France. Its aim is to respect man and the environment and with this in mind, it supports three main causes. The first being, literacy and support for women in developing countries. The second is to fight against blindness and assist the visually impaired (braille labelling was introduced in 1997). Finally, supporting the preservation of traditional cultivations and harvesting methods.
With this in mind, L'occitane uses high quality, traceable ingredients in all their products, and this is the main reason for me using them. The premium price tag, does hinder my trying new products as much as I'd like, but I am lucky enough to receive them as gifts throughout the year.
I received this Shower Oil in a L'occitane gift set that I had given me for Christmas. Waiting until my previous shower gel was used up was a bit annoying to say the least, as I do so love this company's products, but used it is, and so to my review.
I have used L'occitane shower products many times before, and was pleased to see one in my set, in a formula that I hadn't tried before - Sweet Almond Shower Oil. The bottle is clear plastic, but it's actually quite stylish with the L'occitane branding on the front.
The product contains grape seed, sweet almond and sunflower seed oils, which are all known for their emollient qualities. The almond oil is extracted from the nut by means of pressure, rather like olive oil, I presume. The almond glycoproteins it contains, also have firming and smoothing properties.
This is a very liquid product and so use on a loofah is unadvisable, it would just run right through. I prefer to apply to my skin directly, to get the full benefit. When the oil comes in contact with water, it becomes almost like a satin mousse. It's a very luxurious foam, not bubbly as such, but smooth and silky.
This luxurious foam makes it the perfect product for in shower shaving, as the razor simply glides over your skin, helping to avoid those nasty nicks and cuts.
A little of this product goes a very long way, as it is super concentrated. The 250ml bottle, which costs £15.00 on the L'occitane website will literally last for months.
After showering, your skin is left with a smooth, satin like feel, and a veil of fragrance. The sweet almond, is subtle and sweet, and for parents of small children, the smell is that of Playdoh. While I would prefer not to smell of Playdoh, the fragrance is lovely, and is not so strong that you notice it that much, if at all, once you're out of the shower.
In conclusion, although this is a premium product, with a premium price tag to match, I WILL be purchasing this again. It's lovely and worth every penny.
During the winter time especially I suffer from dry, itchy skin in my shins especially. They become so itchy I can and have scratch them till they bleed. I think the combination of central heating and being encased in jeans,socks and boots doesn't help.
I have tried several moisturisers to help, but to be honest, I am a bit lazy. I like to shower then get dressed. Sitting waiting for moisturiser to sink in before I get ready is sometimes a time luxury I just cannot afford.
I bought this as part of a set from QVC, as the price was good, but on its own it can be purchased from L'Occitane shops for £15 for 250ml.
The oil itself looks like a lighter version of olive oil and is quite runny - be careful when pouring out not to waste it! I use a tiny amount on a bath scrunchie whilst in the shower, and whilst it isn';t foamy (not good for dry skin anyway, I would imagine) it lightly lathers to a white, creamy texture. The smell is beautiful, like marzipan, but without being too sickly or cloying. My skin feels lovely after my shower, pat dry rather than rubbing and it leaves my skin supple and feeling soft and no tight or itchy feeling. The good thing is you can dress straight away as there is no residue left. The fragrance lingers for several hours and is very pleasant.
I find I don't need to use this everyday to keep my skin in good condition, but I have found it to be more economical than a separate shower cream and moisturiser, so it doesn't feel like an guilty pleasure using it.
I would recommend this to anyone who suffers from uncomfortably dry skin
The bottle is a translucent plastic and the lid is made of silver coloured plastic. On the front of the bottle is the brand and product name along with the size of the bottle, mine is 400ml's. On the back is information about the product, directions, additional advice, ingredients, contact information, recycle symbol and the fact that the product needs to be used within twelve months of opening.
Whenever I go to my mum's house it is filled with premium bath products from QVC as she is terrible if she sees a today's special value. So when I'm there I get to use all her products and this has to be one of my favourite one's and she gave me a spare bottle about four months ago.
When looking into the bottle you notice the colour, I would say it's the colour of olive oil. To open the product is easy, all you need to do is unscrew the lid slightly and it has a hole at the top that lets the oil out. The oil has a wonderful smell to it, it reminds me of bakewell tart, and maybe that's the almonds in it. The oil is a slightly thinner consistency then olive oil and is silky to touch. Depending on what you are using it for, depends on the amount needed, I tend to use more when I use it as a shaving product then as a shower oil. Just put a little in your hands with a little bit of water and rub your hands together and it will turn into a light foam which is white in colour, then apply to the skin. When using it as a shaving solution, the razor glides smoothly across your skin and you are not left with any nicks or reactions and when using it as a shower oil just rub all over. You then just rinse it off and you are left clean and with a slight layer of oil which is very moisturising to the skin. Once out of the shower or bath and dried you notice a slight sheen to the skin where the oil has been and it has moisturised well. The moisture lasts all day and you don't even need to apply body creams even on the driest of skins, which mine is. The smell envelopes your body too and lasts a good few hours, so no need for perfume.
Although expensive I would be prepared to buy a bottle when this one runs out, my skin looks so much healthier and more moisturised then it did before. My bottle has lasted four months so far and is still two thirds full, so for me it will probably last a good year. I would recommend this to anybody if they don't mind paying the price for it.

L'Occitane Shower Oil is available online and in the L'Occitane shop, Debenhams and John Lewis. It is priced at £15.00 for a 250ml bottle. I would watch QVC on the 14th Feb as that is the next L'Occitane Special Value is and it might just come with it. (I didn't get paid for that).
Wow, this smells good enough to eat, mmm
If you love the smell of marzipan, you'll love this one girls, and guys
It sweet smelling, with the smell not lasting very long on the skin very long after you've bathed, hence i would say its also suitable for men.
If you have dry skin like myself, try this.
I honestly dont need to moisturise after a shower (but i do) when using this product. it leaves my skin beatiful and soft, without leaving the skin over greasy, which is a bonus.
It doesnt seem to clog the pores of you skin either im my experience so far, so wont cause spots
i have found that it doesnt lather well, but it is an oil after all, so i lather with a diferent product, followed by this wonderful, and the best shower oil ever
i can honestly say that my excema prone skin has shown a vast improvement with the help of l'occitane shower oil
highly recommended it you have very dry, sensitive, excema prone skin
L'occitane are a French company that was founded over thirty years ago in Provence. They use natural ingredients and traditions in their products and the products just scream quality !!
This product is just divine on so many levels. I love the almond smell and don't worry if you think it will smell like cheap marzipan because it doesn't!!
This particular size is 250mls and lasts for quite a while. The product itself is an oil that converts to a creamy liquid on contact with water and it leaves your skin feeling moisturised ( due to the nourishing lipids ) and smelling wonderful all day ( due to the natural sweet almond oil used, which also acts as a mild and soothing agent on the skin. )
Other ingredients include rosemary ( which acts as an anti-bacterial cleansing agent ) grapeseed oil ( which acts as a cleansing agent that can help reduce swellings ) and soybean (which acts as a cleansing agent and used in oil form to enter the skin quickly.)
Use as a shower cleansing oil by applying to damp/wet skin. A little goes a long way.
For pregnant women who don't like the thought of using an oil in the shower for fear of slipping, you can also use it in the bath as a cleansing oil or you can add some oil to the running water and have a lovely, moisturising bath.
I would also recommend this product as a shaving base to shave your legs !!
MIPA-LAURETH SULFATE, LAURETH-3, VITIS VINIFERA (GRAPE) SEED OIL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, PRUNUS AMYGDALUS DULCIS (SWEET ALMOND) OIL, SORBITAN OLEATE, FRAGRANCE, PEG-7 GLYCERYL COCOATE, COCAMIDE MEA, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, TOCOPHEROL, ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS (ROSEMARY) LEAF EXTRACT, GLYCINE SOJA (SOYBEAN) OIL, LIMONENE, COUMARIN, LINALOOL
I'd recommend this for all skin types, even sensitive skins. However, with all new skin products for VERY sensitive skins I'd patch test regardless.
There are certain products that you know you can recommend safely to people and that they too in turn will recommed to others. L'occitanes Almond cleansing & soothing shower oil falls into that category.
No.1 thing you notice is the fabulous smell, an almondy honey like aroma.
Like previous reviewers i am prone to dry skin and am very careful about what shower products is use as by and large I end up with itchy dry skin afterwards.
No such issues here, the product is oil based however it lathers up when it comes into contact with water so you really feel like you are giving yourself a good clean. The big difference is despite all those potentially itchy dry skin causing "soapy" suds that this product produces you end up with moisturized lovely smelling skin. Even when you cant be bothered to put on the after bath moisturizer your skin is still left beautifully soft. I dare anyone not to fall in love with this product!
Before or when i cant get access to my grape l'occitane products i generally go for this product, it smells great and keeps your body moisturised. Although it is an almond body wash it smells something more like a light honey.
This is great for people who have dry skin and can be used all over i have found no problems with it, i have very sensitive skin and have trouble finding products which work well with my skin type but this product is great! This is an awesome product to use when shaving as it keeps everythin cleansed and smooth to the touch and seems to help soften rough skin around the knees and elbows.
For best results if you have oilier skin you should use the almond paste exfoliator before hand it makes your skin feel great and then you can use this shower oil to clense your body after wards.
L' occitane also have a great almond body cream which smells gorgeous and is also great to use everywhere especially elbows and knees i find if you have really dry skin which completes this collection.
I have very dry sensitive skin, especially around this time of year with layers of clothing and central heating. Anyone with sensitve skin will know this is a recipe for disaster. Anyhow I purchased the almond cleanser and I am blown away by the product. I put a small amount on a sponge and i can have a very moisturising shower and do not need to spend anymore money on moisturizers afterwards. But here is the good news i have had no flare ups on my skin and will continue to use this wonderful product.Do not be put off by the price a little goes a long way and your skin will thank you for it.
