I love L'occitane products as I have problem skin. It never does what it should, at 40, I am getting spots but I never did as a teenager! What's that all about? LOL. I am also prone to excema.
L'occitane use natural, organic products, and they limit the use of all 'nasties' i.e: silicons, chemicals and paraben preservatives.
This is what L'occitane say about themselves: Our highly effective products are the result of bringing together tradition, nature and research. L'OCCITANE products are patented, proven and effective - and always offer a delicious moment of well-being and sensory delight.
I am reviewing the Shea Vanilla shower gel, which I received recently as a gift. I use many of this brands products but the Shea Vanilla is not one I had come across before. Sadly, it is not available via the manufacturers website at the present time, although I have found it online, through sellers on eBay and www.lookfantastic.com. As their products are natural and without preservatives, the manufacturer tends to do things by seasons, for instance, late summer lavender fragranced products are prevalent, and others start to wan.
This shea vanilla shower gel contains vanilla harvested from Madagascar for a gentle, subtle fragrance. It is not at all overpowering. It's like a whisper of a scent. It lingers in the bathroom and on your skin for a short while but doesn't last long at all. Some may find this a benefit as then it will not clash with other products, deoderant, perfumes etc. In my opinion, it's a pity it doesn't last longer, as it's a lovely fresh scent, and not at all cloying. It would be most welcome if it were to linger longer.
This shower gel also contains shea extract for intense moisurisation. Shea is known as 'Women's gold'. The fruit, which is picked from the ground, as the trees are protected. It is processed only by women in Bobo Dioulasso, in West Africa. L'occitance purchase it's shea butter direct, to enable the women to benefit from fair trade.
When applied (I always apply directly to a body puff) it foams easily and delivers plenty off bubbles. Although it is hydrating, you can feel the moisture, it is not as rich a foam of some the the other products from this manufacturer though.
I have a small 75ml bottle, and applied approx 5ml to my body puff, for each shower. A little goes an extremely long way, and a bottle this size would be ideal for a fortnight's holiday if only one person were to use it. The value for money is fantastic for the quality of product you receive.
Although this product is not available instore at the current time, I recommend you have a browse around a L'occitane boutique store. It is an experience in itself. Often while perusing, the assistant will offer tea and coffee (at no charge) of once or twice even a glass of wine. This is the level of service I have come to expect of a seller of products of such quality at this. 4 out of 5 for product (fragrance could have been a little stronger) and 5 out of 5 for customer care by the brand.
L'occitane - a name I trust.
