A Rice Bran body polish scrub

Every so often after looking online for interesting new beauty products I come across one or two which catch my attention. One website I do like to use because it has always been reliable with both their payment system and their delivery options, so I am happy to go back to them time and time again to purchase my products.

I came across Laidbare rice bran body polish after a close friend of mine told me how wonderful it was on her skin and having forgotten about it until seeing it on lookfantastic.com I decided to purchase it. I had run out of the particular body exfoliating scrub I had been using whilst testing some products for someone else, so I was in need of an alternative.

Laidbare products are sold as being "a collection of pure, natural and beneficial skin, body and lifestyle products. Sourced from fresh, living plants, the superior essential oils and natural extracts are expertly blended with vitamins into a luxurious skin food that promises to be always beneficial, never artificial - even the preservatives." And I am currently really happy with using products which are derived from using natural ingredients, the difference in my skin tone is so much better for doing so and I find that having sensitive skin I am not having as many allergic reactions to products as I do when I use High Street brands. Their products only seem to be available online and to date I have not seen them in any high street store or known department stores such as Debenhams or even Selfridges, so all of the products I have purchased have been online.

The Laidbare Rice Bran Body Polish is sold in a 200ml plastic tube which retails at £14. The tub itself is a circular tube with a screw on and off lid and without the Laidbare label which is quite colourful and not over dramatic, it would be a simply white tub. The label which surrounds the white tub has colourful green and pink blades of grass beneath the Laidbare logo which is a striking grey colour with the words 'naturally inspired beauty' underneath. It does look really elegant sitting on your bathroom shelf and it does stand out for the one reason that it is very plain looking in comparison to my brightly coloured products from Lush.

When it comes to using this polish you are promised that it will "exfoliate to revive and reveal gorgeously soft silky skin all over" and it is a really simple process to use. When in the shower (or bath) you need to scoop some of the body polish into your hand which does feeling silky soft until you rub it onto your skin and the rice bran which is used as the exfoliant is not as rough as I was expecting it to be, but you can definitely feel it working against your skin as you exfoliate your skin, when I use this product I massage it onto my skin in a circular motion which I find is the best way of using it. The first thing you notice is the aroma of this body polish which is simply divine and as soon as it touches the skin the fragrance comes to life and lingers on the skin after showing and bathing.

The ingredients for this product start with Almond oil which is for me one of the main fragrances and it helps to keep the skin moisturised and is particularly useful for flaky dry skin. The fragrant blend of 100% naturally infused jasmine, bergamot, patchouli, vertiver and all of which work together to promote relaxation whilst helping to life your mood. Then there is Ylang Ylang oil which is really good to the skin especially for people with the combination of both dry and oily skin because it help to sorts out over-dry as well as overly-oily skin by balancing the secretion of sebum whilst finally the inclusion of vitamin C for its ability to strengthen and rejuvenate the skin.

This product asks that you pay particular attention to the legs, bum and tum which sounds like an exercise class at my local gym, however these areas are often ignored, particularly the bum and tum when it comes to the exfoliating process. So how did it fare on the skin? Well using the body polish was really easy as you might expect and because the rice bran is so small and quite well grounded you can decide how much pressure to apply to the skin as to whether you need to add pressure to really exfoliate or whether you use it just as you would any similar product. I found that with my legs I did need to exert some pressure because that is one of my problematic areas where as my bum and tum much lighter pressure because the skin there is much more delicate. When it comes to washing the body polish from your body, again it takes little or no effort and as you massage any excess off using running water you will be left with nothing clinging to the skin.

After using this product and patting my skin dry I was delighted with the effects, my skin was soft and smooth to the touch as well as smelling sweetly of almond oil. I do prefer to use this product in an evening before I go to bed because it does create a sense of relaxation which I believe is due to the jasmine as an ingredient. Overall the general tone and look of my skin had improved remarkably having gone for over a month without an exfoliating product of this kind being used upon my skin. So I do recommend people looking into the Laidbare range because it is Vegan friendly, they use fresh and natural ingredients and their products are kind to sensitive skin like my own. The only downside is being able to find them without access to the internet, a challenge I have not yet been able to meet.
