Lush 13 Soap (Unlucky Dirt)
Advantages: Smells Nice, Lathers Up Well, Cleans Without Drying Your Skin Out & Keeps The Germs At Bay
Disadvantages: More Expensive Than Handwash.
When it comes to soap I never thought Id consider paying more than a couple of quid for a bar because before I started using Lush soaps I thought well they all smell okay and do the same job so whats the point? Well my views on that changed somewhat when I tried my first Lush soap and Ive been going back to buy more and more ever since. My latest soapy purchase was this "Lush 13 Soap - Unlucky For Dirt" but I didnt actually buy this one for using in the shower. In my house we always have a bottle of handwash in place of the soap as everyone thinks its actually more hygenic that way (a bar of soap gets kind of washed after every use though in my opinion) so when our latest bottle ran out I urged my mom to try something different for a change from her nightmare shop (she is not a Lush fan :O!) and for once she took my advice. But was she pleased with the purchase?
Price: 3.60 - 100g Bar
Stockists: Lush & lush.co.uk
The whole reason we bought this soap instead of a handwash is because it is antibacterial. Now when I think of the antibacterial products Ive used in the past I think of the hideous chemical smell they all seem to have but I was sure Lush had added some ingredients to combat that so thats really the reason I wanted this - to see if Lush could do something different with a kind of product I dont normally like.
The bar we have actually looks nothing like the image alongside this review. Ours is a deep red and actually looks a lot like the Godmother soap that Lush make and personally I think mine is nicer than the picture. Everyones bar will be slightly different in colour and shape though as it is cut of a giant block in the store but hopefully it should smell the same and have the same effects.
Now Im not going to say this is the nicest smelling soap Ive ever used from Lush because it simply isnt however for an antibacterial soap this does smell great. You dont get much of a scent when it is in bar form but as soon as it comes into contact with the water the fragrance of roses hits you right away and for a non-floral person I loved it. I thought this would smell very "herby" as that is how it was described but the oregano scent is in the background and just compliments the rose rather than overpower it or offend the nose!
As I mentioned at the start I only use this on my hands so I cant comment on what its like for the rest of your body but it does a wonder on my hands. A lot of soaps tend to be really drying on my skin but this lathers up really well, very quickly and leaves me hands feeling squeeky clean without drying them out. I have to say since we started using this there has been little or no colds going round in our house so it actually must work for killing those pesky germs! And best of all my mom seems to be coming round to the idea that Lush might be alright after all.
Highly recommended as it makes a change for handwash. Thanks for reading.
