Lush 13 Soap (Unlucky Dirt)
Advantages: unique and slightly spicy scent, refreshing, comforting, cleanses thoroughly
Disadvantages: maybe too strong for very dry skin
I've been to Lush again - this time I bought the ,,13 Unlucky For Dirt" soap which I will review now. :)
I really like Lush! I remeber how I bought a Lush product for the first time. That was when I lived in London and was really sad and tired after my horrible telesales job. I walked through Victoria Station and wanted to buy myself a treat. I had seen lush from the escalators all the time but never went in - but that one time I did and fell in love with thescent of a blueish stone-shaped thing you were supposed to crumble into your bathtub.
Since then I've become a devotee to the brand and have been trying out new products all the time. I noticed the 13 Unlucky for Dirt soap because I thought the name sounded cool. When I smelt it in the shop, I feel in love with it and just had to buy it!
What does it looks like and what will it do?
The soap is of a dark red colour and seems to glow a little. At Lush they have really big pieces of soap and cut off a usually square-shaped chunk for you. Some a pre-cut and wrapped so you just have to pick them up.
The soap is supposed to be anti-bacterial and give your skin an intensive cleaning so dirt will really be unlucky! The mix of scent and ingredients promoted on the website sound promising, but I will mention them in the next bit. ;)
The scent is really something special and not as sweet as most other Lush products. According to the website, the soap contains Manuka honey from New Zealand, oregano and the scent of roses. All this comes out really well and creates an interesting mix of very different scents. The scent reminded me of a German cough candy I really like, which contains cherries and menthol.
The scent really soothes you, especially when you have a cold or are just feeling a little lousy. ;)
The effect on my skin
My skin really did feel squirky clean after using the soap. It will remove any dirt and is also good if you have greasy skin. Despite the somewhat spicy scent it is also great for summer when you're sweaty and want to feel fresh again!
My skin coped well with the soap, but I wouldn't recommend the soap to people with really dry and sensitive skin as it might be a bit too strong and de-mosturizing.
The soap doesn't foam much, but it still feel really nice and leaves your skin clean and smooth.
If you are allergic or have really sensitive skin, check the ingredients before buying the product.
How long will it last?
This soap as, as most other Lush soaps, a nice endurance and I washed myself with it almost daily for over a month! So a 100g piece really gets you a long way and works out compared to my needs of shower gel I'd use otherwise.
Oregano and Rose Petal Infusion (Origanum vulgare and Rosa centifolia), Propylene Glycol, Rapeseed Oil,Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil (Brassica napus; Helianthus annuus; Cocos nucifera), Water (Aqua), Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Honey (Mel), Perfume, Sodium Hydroxide, Manuka Honey (Mel), Sodium Stearate, Oregano Oil (Origanum vulgare), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Geranium Oil (Pelargonium graveolens), Sodium Chloride, Geraniol, Limonene, D&C Red No. 33, FD&C Red No. 4.
A 100g piece of this soap costs £3.79, which I think is alright.
Another Lush product I really enjoyed! This defenitely was a change from the sweet soaps I usually get and I will defenitely buy it again. The scent was comforting and refreshing at the same time.
I would defenitely recommend it, but if you have very dry skin you'd better pick a more moisturizing soap (or put on body lotion after showering ;)).
A fab soap!
Summary: Cleanses thoroughly with a great scent!
