Advantages: Delicious scent, lovely colour
Disadvantages: Expensive
As anyone who reads my reviews regularly will know, I am very fond of Lush and am trying to work my way through all of their bath products. Earlier this year I got into the Retro range, and purchased a number of items from the website, which is the only place Retro items are available. The latest product I have tried is Absolute Delight.
Absolute Delight is a bath ballistic: these do not produce bubbles, but fizz away in the bath, releasing essential oils and hopefully turning the water a lovely colour. This particular ballistic is based on the concept of Turkish Delight. It is large in size and round in shape, scented with Turkish rose absolute and geranium. The ballistic contains fresh rose petals as well as sandalwood and jasmine. It is suitable for vegans. I've had a thing about Turkish Delight ever since I first read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe as a child, so I was very happy to try this!
The ballistic is pale pink in colour and smells lovely. It smells of roses (not much like Imogen Rose, Lush's new rose perfume, though) and the scent does rather remind me of Turkish Delight.
I dropped the ballistic into my run bath and it fizzed away, turning the water a lovely shade of pale pink. The delicious scent was released too, and unlike with some other bath products the scent did not vanish or weaken.
I really enjoyed my bath - I found it very nice to sit in pink water! I didn't actually find any rose petals in the bath - perhaps they were blended within the rest of the ballistic - but this was a good thing as it meant I didn't have to worry about picking petals out of the bath afterwards.
My skin felt soft after my bath and I didn't need to use much moisturiser. I was impressed that I could still smell the lovely rose scent on my skin. Almost as nice as the real Turkish Delight, and with zero calories!
This is a very expensive ballistic, costing £3.55, although it's large so you could possibly cut it in two and get two baths out of it. I do understand that rose absolute is very expensive, and products that contain it do tend to be a little pricier. It's too expensive to use often, but the delicious scent and lovely colour make it a worthwhile purchase every once in a while.
Summary: Lovely Retro ballistic
