Lush Buffy the Backside Slayer
Advantages: Leaves skin looking and feeling wonderful
Disadvantages: None for me
Today I am finally getting around to reviewing one of my favorite Lush products the Buffy Body Butter. This has been a firm favorite of mine for many years now and one which I buy and use on a regular basis. Clearly all my friends know how much I love this product as I happily received three bars of the stuff for Christmas.
As with all of Lush solid products, Buffy comes packaging free. Of course reducing pointless waste is excellent but I would recommend picking up a Lush tin along with this product, just to keep it at its best.
Amusingly, its full title was originally "Buffy the backside slayer", although the makers of the TV show Buffy the Vampire slayer didnt see the funny side of the products name and therefore it was shortened to just "Buffy".
Buffy is a solid body butter in a thick square shape. Unlike most other lovely Lush products, its not so beautiful to look at, it is of a light brown colour and a bit plain looking. It contains two of my favorite ingredients, cocoa butter and shea butter, which are both brilliant at moisturising the skin. Whilst the groung rice, ground almonds and aduki beans work as an exfoliant to gently buff the skin, making it super clean and soft.
I use Buffy twice a week in the shower by simply rubbing the bar all over my body. I tend to apply a small amount of pressure and rub in a circular motion which I feel gives a really deep clean. The bar does feel rough on the skin so I would advise against applying too much pressure. When first applied to the skin it can feel a little greasy but in my experience this easily rinses off leaving skin amazingly soft. My skin is always left looking and feeling wonderful. It works well at buffing away any dead skin and leaves skin with a lovely healthy glow.
If like me you love the smell of shea and cocoa butter products then you will really enjoy Buffy. It also has a ever so subtle hint of lavander which gives a lovely relaxing feel to it. The fragrance does not last too long on the skin though.
I find Buffy to be a really decadent pamper product, but which can be used on a regular basis. Whenever I use this product I instantly feel the benefits, my skin feels wonderfuly clean and well moisturised. Long term it works brilliantly at eliminating any dry patches of skin and any problematic ingrowing hair.
Longevity of the product is good, a 90g bar lasts me around two or three weeks although this depends on how much it is used, admittedly I sometimes go a little over the top and cover myself in the stuff.
As with all Lush products, Buffy has not been tested on animals. It is also suitable for Vegans.
Buffy is available in most Lush stores and online (delivery charges may apply)
