Lush Candy Cane Bubble Bar
Advantages: smells lovely, leaves skin soft
Disadvantages: No colour to water, smell isn't very Christmassy
I've wanted to try this bubble bar for ages, but have had to wait as it only comes out at Christmas! I ordered one from the Lush Forum Party a few weeks back, but unfortunately my Strawberry Santa Shower Jelly leaked on it, and the paper it was wrapped in disintegrated, making a bit of a mess of one side. Thankfully, Lush sent me a replacement, so I have now been able to try the candy cane properly, as well as try one that had to have a chunk hacked off, due to the soggy yellow paper sticking to it!
The candy cane is a bubble bar slice from Lush - basically a solid bubble bath. To use it you simply crumble it under running water, and it will give you the same sort of effects as a liquid bubble bath, only without the need for packaging - and it's a bit more fun too!
The two candy cane's I received didn't really look like the one above. They are pink and white, but both of mine were mainly pink with a few streaks of white in there, and were an odd shape - as if you had rolled a sausage shape and squashed it down flat - if that makes sense!! The Lush products are all made by hand, which probably accounts for their uneven shape, I guess they just pick the best looking one to advertise!
The candy cane contains vanilla absolute, and smells delicious. It's a bit like Lush's rock star soap or even their Snow Fairy shower gel, which also only comes out at Christmas. As the name Candy Cane suggests, this has a very sweet candy smell, it's gorgeous, and definitely one for the girls. Lush describe it as 'Sugary sweet and full of fluffiness.'
When I crumbled this under the water, lots of fluffy white bubbles began to appear on the surface of the water and the sweet aroma started to fill the bathroom. Most of the bubble bars I have used have coloured the water, so I expected this one to colour it too, but unfortunately once it had completely dissolved there was no pink water as I had been hoping for, just cloudy water.
As with many of the bubble bars, once you get into the bath, you can really feel a change in the water. The ingredients contained in the product made the water feel silky and the bubbles feel soft and luxurious too, unlike with cheap liquid bubble baths.
I stayed in the bath for ages as it just felt so luxurious, and that gorgeous smell was lingering too. The bubbles lasted the entire bath, and when I got out, I found that my skin felt baby soft and the fragrance of the candy cane lingered on my skin.
A candy cane bubble bar will cost you just £2.25 from Lush or soon the Christmas products will be added to the website - www.lush.co.uk. You can break it into pieces to get more than one bath from it if you like, but I just chose to put the whole thing in.
So, despite being disappointed that it didn't colour the bath water - in retrospect I think the colour pink was too light to give any colour when dissolved in a full bath of water - I really liked the candy cane bubble bar. It smelled gorgeously girly and delicious - although I wouldn't say that this is particularly Christmassy, well not to me anyway. It left my skin lovely and soft and smelling like a sweet shop! Definitely recommended for a (very) early Christmas treat!
Summary: For a very girly bath!
