Lush Dirty Spring Wash shower gel
I LOVE lush shower gels (among some of their other products) and slowly I am working my way through some of the ones they currently have to offer.
What initially caught my attention about the Dirty Spring Wash shower gel was the very vibrant blue colour of it. I was intrigued to find out what would smell like blue. So far in my experience of Lush they often pair up colours with scents, for example the grass green of the Grass shower gel or the girly pink with a hint of sparkle of snow fairy.
So what does blue smell like? Mouthwash!
Let me explain.
Lush say: "Dirty Spring Was shower gel is like a dip in a mountain spring, with spearmint and menthol to make your skin feel cool in a hot shower."
And apart from the dip in a mountain spring (which I have never tried but it's certainly on my to-do list before I die) I couldn't agree more with Lush's description. But it does mean that the fragrance of the Lush Dirty shower gel really reminds me of mouthwash but and I hasten to add, in a very pleasant way.
Could you ever love a mouthwash inspired shower gel?
Yes, yes, and yes. It's lovely, with quite a sweet strong spearmint scent taking centre stage. It makes for a great morning shower gel and definitely one that can drag you from sleepiness even at the earliest hours of the morning. I would also like to add that in my experience the Dirty shower gel maybe isn't a cure for a hangover but it can certainly ease the headachy feeling and clear your head a bit.
Although Lush Dirty spring wash shower gel does lather well it doesn't lather as well as some of the other Lush shower gels that I have tried. But having said that a little of this, especially if you use a shower puff goes a really long way. I have had my 100g bottle for a couple of weeks now and even with daily usage I've only used about half of it, so I have many more minty mornings ahead of me to look forward to!
Unfortunately Lush products don't come cheap and that's the main reason why I always use a shower puff with the Lush shower gels to make sure I get as many applications as possible. But even considering the expensive price tag I still think the Dirty Spring Wash shower gel is worth purchasing, because it does last and it smells lovely. I also like supporting Lush because although not all of their products are made from natural ingredients unlike a number of other brands out there they try and keep any chemical use to a minimum.
Prices (as of date of review):
100g - £4.25
250g - £8.50
500g - £14.95
As with most of the Lush shower gels that I have tried you can use the Dirty Spring Wash as both a shower gel and a shampoo. I have now used the shower gel a couple of times as a shampoo and it's pretty good, not quite as good as some of the Lush shampoos, but still surprising good. I found my hair was left in good condition after using the Dirty Spring Wash shower gel even after my hair had been for a lovely swim in a chlorine filled pool. Personally, I love the multi-purpose nature of a lot of Lush products it means when I go for a weekend away or to the gym I can cart around one less thing and just pack the shower gel.
What I do really like about the Dirty shower gel is that the fragrance remains on my skin even after I'm all dry. It's also a great unisex fragrance, which is something that isn't always true of a lot of Lush products. This is one shower gel that my husband likes and one that he wouldn't be ashamed to take with him to the gym - unlike my all time favourite Snow Fairy.
Recommended? Yes, yes, yes. It's a lovely shower gel and although it does have a rather unique minty fragrance I love it. It will definitely be a shower gel that will be making an appearance in my bathroom time after time.
Four out of five stars.
Do have a sniff of Dirty Spring Wash next time you are in a Lush store.
