Lush Dreamtime Bath Melt
Advantages: Smells lovely, makes for a really relaxing bath, leaves skin really soft and hair very shiny.
Disadvantages: A little expensive but completely worth it if you ask me.
There's nothing I like more than winding down at the end of a long day with a nice, hot bubble bath. I often add something or other from Lush in said bath just to make it a little bit extra special and enjoyable and their creation I threw into the water most recently was this dreamtime bath melt.
The bath melt can be bought from Lush stores and their website, a 30g block costing £3.15. Normally with such things from Lush I recommend breaking them up and getting two or three uses out of each one and, in all fairness, you could probably do so with this one. I, however, find it is so wonderfully relaxing I just want to use it all in one go to get the most from it.
If you're unfamiliar with bath melts then these are basically a way of softening your skin whilst you bathe. You drop one into your bath and not only do you receive lovely smelling skin but you also receive skin soft enough to be the envy of a baby's bottom. Lush's bath melts tend to include 'luxurious' ingredients which is why they're a little bit pricey. However if you just use the odd one every now and again to treat yourself to a bit of a pamper I personally think they're completely worth it.
I've tried all except one of Lush's bath melts and I do think Dreamtime is probably my favourite. This rectangular white block of goodness is relaxation is solid form. This one is made up of plenty of oils, almond, lavender, ginger, chamomile blue and sandalwood oils go into one of these bath melts with jasmine absolute and cocoa butter thrown in for good measure. Along the bottom of the bath melt you'll see a few golden jasmine flowers poking out too which are released into your bath water once this starts to melt away.
The bath melt smells beautiful. It is what I imagine my dear Mother would call a 'hippy smell' but, as she often points out, these are scents I'm most often drawn too. You can clearly detect the lavender oil's contribution to this scent but it isn't that sort old fashioned lavender scent which reminds of your grandmother, it's much more fresh and sandalwood clearly shines through too which I personally love as I have a lot of love for sandalwood!
To use the bath melt you can either pop it into your bath whilst the water is running leaving the water fully soft and fragranced before you get in or you can run your bath first and allow the product to melt around you in the bath, slowly releasing everything it has to offer whilst you bathe. I personally prefer to do the latter, a great little tip for giving your skin an extra fragrance boost is you just rub this over your arms and legs in the bath before it all completely melts. The scent lingers on the skin much stronger if you do that!
Dreamtime takes about two minutes to fully melt away in the bath water. Whilst doing so that soothing and relaxing mix of lavender and sandalwood is released filling your bathroom with a beautiful scent which now has an added gentle aroma of ginger to it along with a floral undertone. The scent of this reminds me of burning an incense stick, another thing I find very relaxing, only this scent is much more subtle. The smell alone really helps me to unwind and relax and I love it.
The melt turns the bath water into a creamy white colour and those little jasmine flower petals are left floating about the water so, not only does my bath smell divine, it looks rather pretty too. The bath water is left silky smooth to the touch and Dreamtime just makes for a generally really relaxing soak.
When I eventually drag myself out of the bath (which can take me a long while as I fall so deep into a state of relaxation, and the effects of this melt can still be felt in the water after a good forty minutes of being in the bath) my skin feels beautiful. It's so soft and smooth and has quite a nice natural glow about it. My skin is left feeling so wonderful, in fact, that I don't even feel the need to moisturise afterwards which is a big deal for me as this is something I do religiously! Not only that but I also find my hair is left looking much shiner if I wash it in the same water as this has melted in, it almost sparkles actually.
The scent left lingering on my skin is quite a floral one with the musky tone of the sandalwood and, should you wish to build on this scent with lotions and perfumes, I find anything floral based works really well, particularly the moringa and jasmine ranges from The Body Shop. Otherwise the scent of the bath melt alone will still be faintly lingering on your skin the following morning, it is rather long lasting.
If you're looking for some 'you time', to just relax, pamper and treat yourself I strongly recommend this. Just don't bathe in it until you're ready to go to bed because you will be very sleepy after a Dreamtime bath!
Summary: The perfect way to relax and unwind.
