Lush Figs & Leaves Soap
Disadvantages: Leaks an oily liquid
I treated myself to a smallish wedge of Lush Figs and Leaves soap on a recent Christmas shopping trip to Cheltenham. On the whole I am a fan of Lush shops, and enjoy trying out some of the products, on this occasion though I had some difficulty choosing what to buy as the smell in the shop was so overpowering, I say smell perhaps perfume might be a better description, it is nice but too much, you can smell it for yards ahead before you even reach the shop.
Surprisingly though once I got it home, I found that the perfume from the Figs and Leaves soap is not especially overpowering in the bathroom. It is a nice warm, clean sort of friendly smell however, and I believe contains the gorgeous patchouli oil.
My soap, about 2x the size of a conventional bathsized bar cost about £4 ,around the Lush average I should think. but lets be fair where else could you buy such weird and wonderful bath products!.
It is an ugly soap, I don't mind that at all, it is brownish with some white mottling, there are 2 definite downsides, one is that if you leave it on the edge of your bath or sink it leaks an oily brownish substance (I really don't like this too much) and secondly it is heavily peppered with fig seeds which do not immediately flush away from the bath or basin (I don't mind that so much) Also the fig seeds have served a purpose as an exfoliating agent. It also leaks some rather unappetising looking bits of chopped up fig, the leaves are on the top of the soap only so not a problem ,though I don't know that they serve much of a purpose either.
The soap itself is quite nice, it does not produce too much lather, so you need to rub it well onto the flannel or puff before washing. It feels quite ok on the skin I think probably rather drying rather than moisturising, but not excessively so.
I think I'll give it 3 stars, less over the top than some of the Lush range, I'm glad I tried it, but think I'll move on to one of the other varieties on my next visit.
Summary: An interesting soap
