Lush Figs & Leaves Soap
Advantages: Long lasting, nice scent, cleans and exfoliates really well.
I much prefer washing my hands with soap as opposed to hand wash and I'll always buy my soap from Lush as I know the ingredients will be natural and good for my skin and, most importantly, not tested on animals. This Figs and Leaves soap is probably my favourite.
This soap can be bought from Lush for £3.25 per 100g. This soap can be found in your local Lush store in the form of a massive block and there will always be a lovely shop assistant around somewhere to cut you a piece off, whatever size you like. If you're buying this from the Lush website you can purchase it in 100g, 250g or 500g blocks.
This soap tends to make me feel quite nostalgic as it reminds me of my childhood spent running around in the woods at the bottom of my street. With its brown colour with leaves along the top of it the soap does resemble that dirty woodland floor in appearance and it certainly doesn't make you think 'clean'. As we all know though, looks can be deceiving and I think this soap is a perfect example of that.
The scent of this soap is a really natural, earthy but fresh scent which also has a typical soap smell to it. It's quite a bizarre scent but I would describe it as pleasant and I have no qualms with my hands smelling of this which is good as the scent does linger on the skin for some time after using this. The soap is quite soft as well and can easily be pushed and moulded into new shapes.
This soap lathers really well and lasts for absolutely ages as well. I tend to get about five months regular use out of a 100g block so the price is pretty reasonable in my opinion. You use the soap like any other, just rub your hands with in under running water and then feel the benefits! I always keep my soap in a closed soap dish by the sink to ensure my soap doesn't get wet unless intended to which allows me to keep the block for longer.
The effects this soap has on my hands are amazing, it's hard to believe I manage such a difference just by using a bar of soap! Firstly, the soap really does clean your hands. My days at work are spent accepting money from people and it's horrid just how much dirt builds up on my hands over the space of a couple of hours from doing this! I cut off little chunks of soap to take to work with me as the hand wash they supply in the toilets really dries my skin up. I use this at work and the dirt just comes dripping off of my hands and into the sink. Awful to know it was there in the first place but wonderful to know that it's coming off quickly and easily.
Secondly, the soap really exfoliates my skin. It's not rough or uncomfortable to use like some body scrubs are but it really gets rid of all dry and dead skin on my hands making them appear a lot healthier and nicer to look at. Because all of this dead skin as been removed the soap really brightens my hands up and there's a clear difference between my the colour of my hands pre-wash and post-wash. For some reason the skin on my hands is constantly mottled and this soap really gets rid of that appearance. It does eventually come back after about an hour or so but it's nice to have hands that don't make me look as though I'm freezing just for a little while!
Lastly, my hands feel wonderfully soft, smooth, fresh and clean after using this soap. As I've mentioned the scent lingers on the skin for a good couple of hours which helps to make me feel like my hands are clean but they just look cleaner as well. The skin on my hands is left feeling beautifully soft and smooth and hydrated to the point where I actually abandon all hand creams when I'm using this soap as I simply do not have a need for them.
Typical of lush, this is an absolutely amazing soap and the formula is apparently so gentle it can even be used on the face! I haven't actually tried this myself as I worry about my really sensitive skin on my face but if it has the same effects there as it does on my hands this would be better than any other face washes I've ever used! I highly recommend this soap, if it doesn't turn into the only one you ever buy again you'll certainly keep going back to it.
Summary: One of my favourite soaps from Lush.
