      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      good for a treat

I got this in a set I as given as a present at Christmas. The bottle I was given was the 500 g bottle. The first thing I thought about the gel was how cool it looked it is a lovely bright blue color quite attractive to the eye. The gel comes in a plastic bottle, it has a flip lid which is black. When I first used the shower gel the first thing I noticed was the strong menthol smell. It really is a strong and refreshing smell. I especially like using the shower gel first thing in the morning as it seems to make me wake up more because it is so refreshing. The gel is a lovely thick consistency and lathers up very well. I only have to use a little bit each day and it is more than enough. The smell increases as it lathers up and really does fill the whole bathroom. After I got out of the shower the scent stays on my skin so I smell lovely and fresh. I got this as a gift so didn't buy it myself but checked online and it cost around £11 so it is quite expensive. I would definitely recommend this shower gel. Although it is expensive it lasts ages so it is still worth it, the cheaper brands are not as economical as you have to use loads to get any lather.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      Four out of five stars

I was given a 500 gram bottle of this shower gel last Christmas from my Dad. He'd asked me what I wanted and I said that I liked Lush products and this is one of the things that he bought me. Personally, I wouldn't have chosen this product my self based on the name and the bright blue gel, because it just looks a little masculine in my opinion. Not that it matters what a shower gel looks like, but that's just my opinion. It is also extremely expensive, and I definitely will not be buying another one - even though I do actually like it. A 100 gram bottle costs £4.50 and the much larger 500 gram bottle costs £11.95. The shower gel is described as being Lush's original full blast minty shower gel and they say that it is packed with menthol which is really refreshing and cooling. It also contains lots of other ingredients including synthetic and natural ingredients. It contains sea water, fine sea salt, several oils and aloe Vera gel amongst many other things. It doesn't bother me that the ingredients are not completely natural, however considering the price I must admit that I was expecting the ingredients to be completely natural. The shower gel comes in a bulky plastic bottle which has a black Lush label wrapped around it and it has a flip top lid which is also black. It is part of the retro range which confuses me because most of the retro shower gels have got white labels. The shower gel its self is a lovely bright blue colour which I absolutely love! It smells fresh and minty but not like toothpaste, it is more of a light and refreshing smell which is really uplifting and it is perfect for waking me up in the mornings while I'm showering. The consistency of the gel is better than I had expected, and it is reasonably thick and not as runny as some of the other Lush shower gels that I've tried. It lathers up really well so I don't need a massive amount which makes it better value for money. While using the shower gel my skin feels cooled and tingly, which I wasn't keen on - the tingly feeling has grown on me though and now I like it. It is best to use it when the weather is warm as that way using it is sort of a relief and it feels amazing to be instantly cooled down. The smell doesn't linger for very long and it is not as strong as I thought it would be. It washes off of my skin well and it doesn't leave any residue or irritate my skin at all. My skin always feels fresh, squeaky clean and soft after using the gel but I don't get a silky smooth feeling which I get with other shower gels. I've had my 500ml bottle for nearly six months now an it is just under half full. I've used it quite a lot especially when the weather was much warmer and like I said I only need a blob or two for my entire body so it is quite good value, All in all I definitely recommend this shower gel and I give it four out of five stars. I've knocked one star off because my skin never feels smooth or silky after using it, and I like my skin to feel smooth after having a shower. It also is quite expensive but a bottle does last for a while so I am not going to knock another star off.

      Disadvantages

A body tingling shower gel from Lush

Look at the suns come out and having been to France for a few days, I am more than enjoying the continuation of the weather I had out there. That said I am in no mood for having a long hot bath, what I want before and after work is a nice cool shower and to enjoy it even more I have some lovely Lush products. I quite like the older Lush products, some of those are now found in the 'retro' section of the website, whether that means I am too cool or simply past it is up to you to decide, but I am one of those people who likes to stick with a product they like once it has been found and then when I get bored to death of it, or something better comes along, I change. Lush Freeze is a bit of a eye catcher of a product, it stands simply because of how blue it is, it is simply the most brilliant blue colour to have a product if you want someone to notice it and Lush being Lush they have to out do themselves most of the time with their products to get your attention because as soon as I walk into a shop my eyes are darting everything at all the vibrant colours, had this been on the shelf I have no doubt that it would have caught my attention. When it comes to minty flavoured products, I am not always a fan. Original Source Tea Tree mint products put me off for life because I find them far too strong and irritating to the point of a headache, an issue I know a lot of people have when the words Lush and shop are mentioned to them, but honesty, once in the store the smell isn't so harsh. The mint flavour of this product is peppermint although its description says it is spiced with sweet orange and Bergamot oil to add some uplifting citrusy scent to the peppermint flavour. A concoction which sounds like I have to try. Shower gels with Lush have risen in price, similar reviews of this product state that the 100g bottle I bought at £4.50 had once cost £2.40 but I find with Lush products you tend to get what you pay for and it is very rare that I find a product I don't like, there have been some products I have disliked but on the whole I usually like Lush. So this shower gel is sold in a see through plastic bottle and it hosts a black flip top lid and around the middle of the bottle is a Lush label which details the product you have bought, who made it and a little blurb describing what the product will do for you and by that I mean phrases such as "When your feeling hot and bothered there is nothing better than a good squirt of this" hence my title for all you rude minded people! As the bottle is see-through you can see how bright a blue the shower gel is and it is nothing like I have ever seen before, infact I would love this colour on the walls of my bathroom because it is so fantastic. Once in the shower and with the lid of this product flipped, all you need to do is squeeze the bottle slightly and out comes a blob of the shower gel and the first thing you will notice is the very fresh smelling peppermint, as though you had picked it from your garden there and then. The texture of this shower gel is quite thick and gloopy so you only need a little on your sponge, flannel or whatever to ensure you get lots of lather and because it is quite thick in texture then you won't be squeezing the bottle and half the shower gel hit's the walls because it is so thin. Once on your body you immediate feel the icy coldness which I have to say is a complete blessing. After a long hot day travelling too and from work, the air con doesn't work because well it only gets switched on occasionally and mind spluttered into life on Friday and then quickly died a sudden death meaning the office this morning was like a sweat box and unbearable, so as soon as I am home I am in the shower with this. The icy coldness is simply lovely, instantly cooling and refreshing on the skin and it makes you tingle all over as the bubbles appear whilst you wash. Out of the shower with my skin dried off, I am can still smell the peppermint aroma and yes there is a hint of something else, it isn't too powerful a scent but you can smell it on your skin, a slight hint of citrus and soft, smooth skin with a very noticeable peppermint aroma to it. Now it comes as no surprise that Lush have a host of ingredients for this product and whilst Peppermint is the main one there are a few other surprises thrown in. Peppermint Oil is a menthol oil which has a cooling effect on the skin and therefore helps to reduce redness and itching. Aloe Vera Oil, one of my favourite ingredients is used because it works really well with peppermint oil in soothing and cooling down the skin as well as acting as a brilliant after sun treatment, which in this weather is priceless. Bergamot Oil comes next and it is an uplifting oil and improves your mood but is also very refreshing and relaxing. Sweet Orange Oil follows and it has a really tangy scent to it, the one I could probably smell on my skin after I had dried off, like Bergamot Oil it is refreshing and relaxing but it also helps to decongest the skin and detoxify it leaving you with soft smooth skin. The last ingredient to mention of the huge long list, which can be found online, is fresh sea water, not something I expected to find here but according to Lush water is alive with many minerals and we need those minerals for the body and it is used because it has a neutral pH balance meaning it is better for your skin but also because it is packed with so many vital vitamins it is better for your skin, especially if you have dry skin that is in need of a little TLC. Now I am not a scientist but there is a more in-depth article on the Lush website as to why they use sea water should it interest you more. I love this product it is brilliant and not only can you use it as a shower gel, you can also use it as a shampoo and I have used it once, by accident when I picked up the wrong bottle of shampoo and all I can say is my scalp tingled and it was a lovely experience and I was left with soft shiny hair and it is something I might use on the odd occasion for a change, but for the moment I like it too much as a shower gel and wont hesitate to purchase more of it as soon as run out.

Minty refreshing shower gel from Lush

Last time I made an order from Lush online, I chose several items from the Retro range including a 100g bottle of Freeze shower gel for £3.95 (a 500g bottle for £10.45 is also available). This product was described as an 'inspirational shower gel' and according to the label is a "Refreshingly stimulating, peppermint, sea salt and orange gel to make you tingle all over". The product can be used on your body and hair "for stimulation, inspiration and concentration". ***What is Lush?*** Lush is a store that makes toiletries and cosmetics, using natural and organic ingredients where possible and minimising packaging where they can. It started out as a mail order company called Cosmetics to Go, but this failed and the new store, Lush, opened in Poole, Dorset. Later branches of the shop opened in London and beyond, and there are now Lush stores all over the world. As well as in store, you can also buy products from the website, www.lush.co.uk. There are similar websites for many different countries including the USA, Japan and Germany. Lush buy ingredients only from companies that do not test on animals. All of their products are suitable for vegetarians and many are suitable for vegans. Lush say: "We believe in happy people making happy soap, putting our faces on our products and making our mums proud. "We believe in long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again." ***What is Retro?*** The Retro range is only available online or via mail order, as it is made up of products that have been discontinued from stores, but were deemed popular enough not to be discontinued completely. Retro products are often more expensive than the normal range of products, as they are made in smaller quantities, but there is some interesting stuff to be found among the products! ***Freeze!*** Freeze is suitable for vegans and is made with fresh spring water and sea water. It contains aloe vera to soothe your skin, peppermint which contains menthol to refresh and cool you down, sweet orange oil to revive and bergamot to uplift. In colour, it is a lovely bright blue and it smells absolutely lovely - refreshing and minty with a sweeter citrus hint. Using the shower gel is easy. Only a very small amount of the gel is needed on my shower puff to create a good lather and the gel feels fresh and tingly without irritating my skin. I'm currently alternating this gel with Grass and Yummy Yummy Yummy, depending on my mood, and I use this particular gel when I want a morning wake-up call. It really does shake the cobwebs from my brain and make me feel refreshed. The scent doesn't really last on my skin once I'm out of the shower, but I don't mind as I use a scented body lotion anyway. Though this gel is expensive, I find I need to use a smaller amount than normal shower gels, so it lasts longer. I really like this refreshing, minty shower gel and I'd consider repurchasing.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

I was wandering round the Lush store in our local town recently when it suddenly occurred to me that I had never used any of the shower gels that they produce. I am not really sure why this is, but probably is due to the fact that I always spend so much money on other items that by the time I reach the shower gel section, that is located at the rear of the store, I am normally already berating myself for succumbing to temptation and spending a fortune once again. This time I decided to head for the shower gels as soon as I entered the shop. Lush do a fine range of items for the shower and bath, from bath melts to soaps and bubble bars to bath ballistics. The shower gel range is slightly smaller, but all are brightly coloured and packaged in minimalistic bottles with the distinctive Lush labels on the front. The Freeze shower gel is available in three sizes. A 100g bottle costs £2.40, 250g will set you back £4.30 and the largest size, 500g, costs a whopping £7.50. Although this is quite expensive for a shower gel, I was happy to hand over the money, because I?m a Lush devotee and know they only used the finest ingredients in their products. There were two factors why I decided on the Freeze gel over the other varieties on the shelves. The first was that it contains peppermint, a fragrance that I totally adore, and the second was the colour. A bright vibrant shade of aqua, the shower gel not only looks appealing through the transparent plastic bottle, but indicated to me that the gel was going to smell delicious, and the peppermint was also going to leave me feeling invigorated after my morning shower. I suppose peppermint scented products normally will be green in colouring but it didn?t deter me a bit. The following morning I awoke from my deep slumber and was just about to roll over again when I remembered & #73; had a new shower gel to try. After turning on the shower and hopping under the cascading jets of water, I opened the lid of the bottle and prepared for the wonders of another Lush product. The smell from the shower gel is gorgeous. The peppermint scent is very strong and one could almost be forgiven for likening it to a minty toothpaste. The minty smell was totally scrummy, and strong enough for my nostrils to inhale an almost icy blast of mint. The shower gel itself is extremely thick and almost gloopy, so there is no chance of any of it being wasted when distributing it onto the body, another bonus, as thin shower gels tend to squirt everywhere but on the bits I want to wash. Unfortunately the shower gel has no means by which to hang it in the shower cubicle, as the top is a simple flip top lid, which means the bottle has to be either held during the showering process, or placed on the floor of the cubicle which is a bit of a pain. Freeze is transparent, which suits me fine, as I have a bit of an aversion to pearlised shower gel, for no apparent reason! As soon as the shower gel made contact with my skin, a bolt of icy coldness spread over me. The mint properties certainly hit the spot, as a tingling sensation spread over every part of my body as I washed. A creamy concoction of soapy minty bubbles quickly appear, and the gel lathers really quickly, even using a small amount. Although the peppermint scent is very strong and quickly fills the shower room, there is a very faint floral, almost medicinal smell to the shower gel, and although barely noticeable, it is there. I felt revitalised as soon as the gel came into contact with my body. Apart from Original Source, I have never used a shower gel that is so invigorating and I would say that Lush Freeze is possibly better. It may sound expensive at £7.50 a bottle, but believe me, the gel lasts for a long time as you really only need a small amount. My skin feels soft and fragrant after using the gel, and the peppermint smell is very noticeable for hours afterwards. After showering with Freeze, my skin feels squeaky clean and stays silky smooth all day, as well as smelling gloriously minty. Sea and spring water is used in the preparation of the Freeze Shower Gel and it is probably due to this that the gel has the skin softening properties. The shower gel can also be used as a shampoo and I must admit I was a little wary of using it as such, but my fears were unfounded. Freeze sets the scalp alive with its tingling properties, and lathers into a cascade of minty bubbliness. My hair was silky smooth after using it, as well as smelling fantastic, so I would thoroughly recommend it. A shower gel and a shampoo that makes you feel this good can?t be a bad thing.
