Lush Fruity Beauty Shower Gel
Advantages: Delicious scent, moisturising, cleansing
Disadvantages: Pricey, hard to find
As many of you probably already know, I'm a huge fan of the store Lush and in particular their shower products that make getting up in the morning and jumping in the shower that little bit better. A recent shower gel I've tried is Fruity Beauty.
Fruity Beauty is pretty rare. It was made as a forum special, only available via the Lush forum during a special 'forum party'. I didn't partake in that party, but bought a 500g bottle from eBay a few weeks ago, as I really wanted to try this.
The shower gel comes in a standard clear plastic bottle, which is made of recycled plastic and is recyclable in turn. The shower gel inside is a kind of dark orange colour and it's easy to see how much product you have left.
The label on the bottle states: "This totally tropical shower gel for your body and hair is a fruity cocktail filled with pineapple juice, aloe vera, vodka and a hint of raspberry. Please enjoy responsibly! (Who are we kidding?!)" The shower gel is suitable for vegans. I thought it sounded really yummy and couldn't wait to give it a go!
Sniffing the shower gel, I could smell a delicious fruity scent with a bit of a kick. It smelled like a tropical cocktail and was delicious. When I came to use the product in the shower, I found it was quite runny, a bit like a cocktail! I had to be careful so as not to spill any. Only a small amount was needed on my shower puff to create an impressive lather. The scent was really potent and filled the whole shower - it was particularly refreshing on this summer morning. The product didn't irritate my skin and I felt lovely and clean afterwards.
I noticed after my shower that my skin felt soft and much less dry than usual, and in fact I only needed to use moisturiser on my driest bits of skin: my lower legs and my elbows. This was a good thing because the scent lasted on my skin for a good couple of hours, and moisturiser would have masked the smell. I was so impressed with the effect the shower gel had on my skin - I imagine the positive effect was largely due to the aloe vera, which is gentle and soothing on even sensitive skin.
Overall, I absolutely love this shower gel and it is one of my favourites made by Lush. I took a risk buying it as I hadn't tried or even smelled it before but I'm glad I did. It is really lovely, refreshing and delicious and is so good for the skin. Five stars from me!
