Lush Gingerbread House
Advantages: Lovely cute shape, nice smell, soft water, good on the skin
Disadvantages: None in particular
Lush released a number of interesting products at Christmas 2010 including several bubble bars and bath ballistics. One of the most interesting bubble bars was the Gingerbread House. It was obviously popular as it was brought back again for Christmas 2011.
Gingerbread House was so cute! It was actually shaped like a little house, with a ginger-coloured body and a white roof covered in sprinkles. It smelled of spicy ginger, the ingredient that stimulates and warms, with real ginger oil. Also included was buchu oil and lemon oil, which brings a sweetness and fruitiness to the bubble bar. Like other bubble bars, this one does contain sodium laureth sulfate - this is a foaming agent which produces the bubbles, but it is also a known skin irritant. Many people, including me, are fine with it but it's something to be aware of if you have sensitive skin.
To use bubble bars, it's best to crumble them into the bath as it is running as the moving water produces more bubbles. I cut the Gingerbread House in half as I know from experience that half a bubble bar is plenty. When wet, the bubble bar felt soft and creamy to the touch and it crumbled fairly easily.
The bar produced loads of bubbles and turned the water a lovely shade of orange. The warming ginger smell was still detectable although it had faded slightly. The water felt like silk and the bath was lovely to relax in, especially as the weather at the time was so cold outside.
After my bath my skin was very soft and I could detect the ginger scent, though I still needed to use moisturiser,
Gingerbread House was priced at £2.45 which is good value considering it does two baths. It's ideal for use during the winter months as it's warming and relaxing. Sadly it is no longer available, but it might be back for Christmas 2012!
