Advantages: Warming fragrance

Disadvantages: None

At the weekend I was starting to finally get over my horrid cold but due to the cold weather I really couldn't warm up however hard I tried. Having had a child free night I decided that I needed a little pampering especially after feeling rotten. I had decided to have a nice long bath and finally relax. When I have these rare moments I do head to my Lush stash which is ever increasing. I wanted something that would warm me through and in the end after debating for a few minutes I opted for Lush's Gingerbread House.

I had received the bubble bar known as the Gingerbread House in a gift set (the little metal hansel and gretal house set) and thought the face that it packed full of ginger and lemon oil I thought it would be perfect to use on a cold winters day to warm me up. Gingerbread House is currently no longer available as it was and is only released at Christmas but I'm sure places like Ebay may have a few pop up for sale.

"If you're feeling the winter blues a soak in this will help you find your way out of the woods"

To look at, Gingerbread House looks ever much the scrummy treat you would expect. The deep ginger coloured colour topped with the snowy roof and cinnamon stick as a chimney not only does it look incredibly festive but it also looks incredibly cute especially as the little snowy roof is finished off with a few rainbow sprinkles! For a bubble bar it is actually quite a decent size and you can easily break it in half to get two bathes out of it.

To use you simply just pour under warm running water and let the bubble bar do it's magic. The first thing I noticed when it was dissolving is the colour it turns the water! A bright gingery brown colour which doesn't seem to get any lighter in colour when your bath is full of water. However, despite this a rich, spicy aroma does manage to fill your bathroom which is gorgeous and for me when feeling a little low and cold this is just what I needed.

Now I don't like the bubble bars which turn the bath water a dirty colour (can cope with pinks etc!) but for some reason because this was quite gingery in colour I didn't mind it so much although my other half thought it was a bit off putting! Once in the bath I found that the white frothy bubbles Gingerbread House had supplied were lovely and soft and that the water was incredibly silky and it made my skin feel silky smooth to the touch which was lovely.

I really found that not only did the bath warm me up but the ginger aroma really did wonders for making me feel a bit more normal again. It was one bath (despite the colour of the water!) that I really did not want to get out of. The aroma is a lovely deep spicy aroma which has a slight citrus kick to it thanks to the lemon oil. It does feature bechu oil which gives blackcurrent notes but for me I couldn't really pick up on a fruity fragrance. It really is one for those cold winter nights where you need warming up from the inside out.

Post bath and that wonderful gingery scent doesn't seem to linger around on the skin which is a shame but to me not overly important as I tend to use a scented body cream. It did however make my skin feel quite soft afterwards which was nice. The one thing you do need to remember is to rinse your bath out as it will leave a gingery colour ring around once dried!

Although this is a festive product I could definitely use it throughout the colder months as this really does help warm you up and it provides a lovely spicy type aroma which can be suitable for both men and women. It's a shame you cannot get it currently and I guess I will just have to hope that Lush will stock it next Christmas so I can buy a few! If you can get hold of it then do so as I highly recommend it!
