“ Brand: Lush / Type: Gift Set „
Good Karma is a cute little gift from Lush, one of the cheaper gifts available. It was designed by Lush people from Italy, Australia and Germany, who apparently take more showers than baths. While Lush do make lots of gifts suitable for bathers, Good Karma is designed for those who take a lot of showers, as it contains a piece of Karma soap and Happy Hippy shower gel.
Good Karma comes packaged in a retangular box covered in a bright, cheerful wrapping paper, primarily orange and yellow in colour, which can be taken off and reused if you so wish. Inside, there is a sturdy cardboard box which can also be reused, to box a present or store anything you like. A picture label on the box lid states who made it and the use by date. Inside, the voucher, descriptive booklet (which lists other things that Lush makes) and the two products are packed within Styrofoam pieces, which are recyclable, fully degradable and can be wetted and used to make sculptures!
I'll discuss the individual products included in the gift below.
Karma soap is deep orange in colour, though when the sun shines on it, it becomes sort of see-through and jewel-like. It contains patchouli, sweet orange oil, lemongrass, elemi and pine - all the ingredients of the Karma scent. The soap is made with Lush's new palm-free base, and also contains such ingredients as rapeseed oil and coconut oil.
I always find that with different Karma products, different aspects of the scent dominate and with this soap I find it is the orange oil and lemongrass, although when you wash with it different parts of the scent come out on the skin, especially the patchouli and pine (I don't know what elemi smells like so can't really pick up on it!). The soap is suitable for use in the shower or bath, possibly in conjunction with other Karma products such as the bubble bar or Karma Komba, and can be layered up with the Karma Kream, Karma dusting powder or the perfume if desired. The soap has no exfoliating properties, but doesn't dry skin out, leaving it feeling reasonably moisturised. It lathers up well using a body puff but seems to last for ages. It can also be kept by the sink for handwashing purposes!
Altogether, this is a great soap that is up to Lush's usual standard. Karma is very much a 'love or hate' fragrance, and it does last on your skin, so it won't be for you if you don't like the smell - but personally I love it.
***Happy Hippy Shower Gel***
Happy Hippy is a pink grapefruit shower gel, although the colour is more like lime or lemon (Lush do say the fresh pink grapefruit juice used in the product can be a different colour every time, so the hue of each bottle is different). The label also has the distinction of bearing a fun picture of a hippy! The product also contains grapefruit water, grapefruit oil (that's a lot of grapefruit), frankincense oil and bergamot oil. Apparently it's a bestseller because it's so cheery and fruity and refreshing.
The product does smell lovely, and very fresh and natural, unlike the artificial fruity scent of some shower gels. It is refreshing and helps to wake me up in the morning. The gel is quite thick in consistency and sometimes disappears back into the bottle when I try and squeeze it out, which can be quite frustrating on occasion! On the plus side this does mean that none of the shower gel gets wasted by squeezing too much out. It lathers well too so you really don't need to use much. Happy Hippy is one of Lush's most popular shower gels, and while it's not a personal favourite it is very pleasant to use.
***The gift as a whole***
I do feel as though the name of the gift - Good Karma - is a bit of a misnomer as there are lots of products with the Karma scent and I would have thought a gift with Karma in the name would contain more of them. However, I do think that it's a good idea to create a gift specially for those who shower (particularly as some people don't have access to a bath) and the two products do go well together as they are both very summery and refreshing. Altogether, a really nice small gift.
The Good Karma gift is fully suitable for vegans and is priced at £7.90. This is more than the cost of the individual products which works out at £6.84 at current prices. There used to be a 10% off voucher in each set, but these have now been discontinued - so you're probably better off buying individual products if you're only purchasing for you. However, if you're buying this as a gift you may as well purchase this packaged version as you'd have to spend money on wrapping paper anyway.
Currently retailing at £7.90 this gift is perfect for those who prefer showers to baths and also at a great price. In the pack you get Lush's popular shower gel Happy Hippy which smells of delicious grapefruit, which is great for when you're wanting a morning shower to wake you up and feel refreshed. The other gift is some karma soap which is a soap which smells of the popular lush fragrance scent karma which compliments the Happy Hippy shower gel really well. Along with these as you do in other LUSH gifts you will also receive a 10% discount voucher which is a great incentive to get the gift receiver to check more of LUSH's products out.
The gift also contains eco flow which is what LUSH use to fill there gifts and packaging to keep the items safe, it's bio degradable and made from potato starch.
It's a great gift to give to people of all ages and also to both genders, such a good gift that I can't think of any disadvantages, unlike some of LUSH's other gifts this certainly isn't out of the price range for the majority.
