Lush Honey I Washed the Kids Soap
Advantages: smells AMAZING, nice and cleansing, gentle and easy to use
Disadvantages: can be a little drying if used frequently, gets crumbly towards the end
I love shopping in Lush and although soap might seem a bit boring, Lush always try their best to make it more interesting! I seem to have amassed several pieces of Honey I Washed The Kids soap from various goody bags and gift sets. It is available from the Lush high street stores, via mail order, or online at www.lush.com. The blocks come in several size options: £3.40 for a 100g block, £8.50 for a 250g block, and £17.00 for a 500g block.
Product description: "You can wash the kids in this if you want, but make sure you get your share of this honey toffee-scented addictive soap! Don't blame us if a fight breaks out over it - buy several to avoid family rifts. The family that washes together stays together."
Seeing as it's quite a mouthful, I'm going to refer to this soap as HIWTK from now on. The HIWTK soap is quite plain to look at and doesn't seem so impressive compared against some of the fancier, more decorative soaps that Lush have on offer. It has a plain honey toned golden brown colour, with a darker layer topping it off. My 100g blocks are cut into flat rectangular sections which do not include the top layer, so this makes them appear even more plain looking.
The thing that makes this soap so amazing is the super strong scent. It has a rich, sticky sweet smell which does smell very much like honey with an even sweeter scent than the natural stuff. It is very notiecable and the scent spreads around my bathroom when this is just sat in my soap dish, and it also leaves the fragrance behind on my skin after I've washed my hands with it. Personally this is one of my all-time favourite scented beauty products and I would recommend HIWTK based on the scent alone!
This soap has a nice texture and it feels quite gentle to use. It creates a nice light amount of foam which is enough to cleanse the hands when needed. I only ever use bar soap to wash my hands as I prefer other products for cleansing my body. I find that there is a slight negative to this product, and that is that it can be a little on the drying side if I'm having to use it frequently. I make sure to follow up with applying a hand lotion afterwards, particularly in this cold weather.
A 100g block of this soap lasts me for around 2 and a half months. Because of the shape of the bar, it is easy to get a good grip on when washing, but it also ends up turning into quite a thin strip when I get near to finishing it up. Once the bar starts to thin out too much it becomes very fragile and breaks down into loads of tiny little fragments which are impossible to use. This is a bit annoying as these pieces end up having to be thrown away and are wasted.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend giving HIWTK a try, if only for the sensual scent experience. It's a lovely soap to use and one of my favourite things from Lush.
