The hot toddy bar was one of my favourites back a couple of years ago when I first purchased a bar around christmas time as a present and decided to buy myself one also, as they where limited edition. I think the bar was around £3 which is quite expensive but your paying for a high quality product and Lush cosmetics is known for selling only 100 percent vegiterian products completely non animal tested, so your also paying for that as well. But the toddy bar has been my ultimate favourite product I have ever bought from the Lush store. This bubble bar in particular is amazing, there is nothing better than a hot toddy bar in the bath after a long hard day - you unwind and feel so stress free, the products from Lush are all amazing but this product in particular was so popular it made it back into the retro product sales a year after and I bought myself a bundle. Only bad point I can possibly mention is that they usually don't last very long, one bath and mine was gone which can be quite expensive if you bought them constantly and in bulk.. but the lush products are completely worth it, they leave a long lasting smell all over your body after a bath which is great and they smell so strong and the hot toddy bar is perfect for relaxing wind down time in the bath. Over all price well worth it and one amazing product!
This is one of Lush's limited edition products that they released a few Christmases ago but from time to time they also release retro products in the new Lush Kitchen but you have to be really speedy to grab them I have found.
This cost me around £3 I think which I still think is a lot to pay but Lush products are not cheap and you are paying for their ethical standards and innovative great smelling products.
I found I could get 3 or 4 baths from this as our water is quite soft. If you have a bubbly spa bath then that should be plenty as it really bubbles up then.
The smell is lovely; it reminds me of Christamas when you might drink a hot toddy or mulled wine. It is orange and cinnamon like. Kind of like the pomaders you make with cloves stuck i them combined with mulled wine. It smells sort of sweet mulled wine and it still smells lovely and string in the bath too.
I left the remains of my bar in the bath room and it really filled the bathroom with its great scent. I also store bubble bars in my drawers and they make my clothes smell nice too. It is always a nice surprise when you find one you had forgotten about too.
I got plenty of bubbles and the water not only smelled warm and cosy and spicy but the water felt silky too.
After the bath the scent hung around the bathroom and beyond for quite a while and I could smell it on my skin too after I dried off.
I hope they bring this one back again soon. This year they have Hot Toddy shower gel which is a similar scent and I have bought that already as I love the bubble bar so much before.
A warming hot toddy is the perfect companion to those cold winter nights, so there were no surprises that Lush decided to make a Hot Toddy bubble bar as part of their Christmas range a few years back. In 2010, the bubble bar was popular enough to make it back as part of the Retro section: these were products available to buy online and via mail order, but not in stores. After Christmas I went a bit mad with my Christmas money and ordered one of every festive Retro product!
The Hot Toddy bubble bar cost £2.95, which is a standard price for this kind of product in Lush. The price seems expensive, but bubble bars can be cut into pieces to be used for more than one bath, and they are made with the highest quality ingredients to ethical standards and produce loads of bubbles!
When I first smelled this bubble bar, I thought it was absolutely delicious - almost good enough to eat. Cloves, paprika and cinnamon, along with orange, lemon and lime peel, gave the bar a delicious orangey and cake-like scent that was absolutely yummy. Muscovado sugar added to the sweetness of the product and the bar also contained patchouli oil and lime oil. The bar is suitable for vegans, like many of Lush's products.
I used half of the bar in my bath. I find the best way of using bubble bars is to crumble them underneath the water as it is running, swirling it around to make loads and loads of bubbles. When I did this I found that the water was a lovely orange colour and a delicious warming orange scent was wafting from the bath.
I really enjoyed my bath and found it was an incredibly relaxing and luxurious experience! The orange smell was lovely and there were tons of bubbles. Okay, perhaps it wasn't the same as a real hot toddy but at least it didn't have any calories!
After my bath, my skin felt lovely and soft and I found that the scent lingered on my skin. I didn't need to use much moisturiser at all so I was able to enjoy the smell all night!
I loved using this bubble bar and it's one I'd definitely like to pick up if it comes back next year. It's ideal for use during those cold winter evenings!
While writing this I am in my dressing gown having just got out of the bath and had tea. I bought this the other day as I was looking through Lush's Christmas specials and saw this.
"While you can't drink this toddy, you can dive into its bubbles. It's a winter-warmer with clove, paprika and cinnamon, but it also has generous helpings of fruity orange, lime and lemon peel. To make it authentic, we've even added muscovado sugar. A nice hot toddy to toast the Christmas season."
It costs £2.95 for 100g so it is slightly on the expensive side but as its Christmas.... It is a nice orange colour with sugar, orange peel and a piece of cinnamon on the top-this I thought was a lovely touch and added to the Christmas theme. Mine was properly around 2 inches by 1 inch high.
The bubble bar smelt gorgeous sitting in the bathroom and I felt it smelt more of the clove than anything, but I didn't find this a problem although it was quite a strong smell, although I couldn't tell that is was meant to smell of a hot toddy, I could tell that it was Christmassy!!
I did find that it was hard to break the bar into pieces for later due to the sugar and other pieces on the top and had to remove the orange peel to break it, I have to admit I don't understand the need for this bit as it was dried so didn't really serve a point I don't think.
As usual I started to crumble a piece under the hot tap and found that bubbles started almost strait away, although I found that the water didn't change colour much it seemed to turn a musty orange colour, by the time I did get into the bath there was a decent amount of bubbles and they seemed to be quite thick as well.
The smell seemed to tone down whilst I was in the bath and I found it quite relaxing, although unfortunately my bubbles didn't last long in all about 10 minutes.
I did find that the sugar did dissolve easily and didn't discover any bits in the bottom of the bath as I sometimes do with things like this.
After my bath I did find that my skin felt smoother and I did feel relaxed and I felt I had un wound slightly after a bad day!
The smell is still on my skin a good hour and a half later and also still on the towels and in the bathroom which I found nice.
Overall I will be buying this again before Christmas is over (as far as I am aware it is a limited edition item) as the smell was lovely (although I couldn't tell it was meant to be a hot toddy) and it did produce results in the bath.
The Hot Toddy bubble bar is one of Lush's nicest Christmas bubble bars ever invented in my opinion. It was discontinued from the Christmas range a few years ago now but made a reappearance last Christmas on the Lush Retro range which was great for me as I have never had the chance to try it before then. After my first try, I was aboslutely hooked and I sometimes crave for this loveliness for my bath (sadly I have run out and it is almost impossible to get any more!). It was a highly popular Lush bubble bar and most people thought it was the best thing since sliced bread!
The Hot Toddy is orange in colour with a lemon peel and a bit of cinnamon embedded in the top. Scent wise it is gorgeous - it smells exactly like cola bottles. It is a very sweet scent but it has a little kick of something spicy too which I think must be the clove and cinnamon oils in it. I have never been able to smell the citrus scent of the lemons in this bubble bar.
When it is crumbled under hot running water, Hot Toddy turns the water a lovely shade of orange, complete with a tub full of bubbles. This bubble bar is the perfect remedy to a cold day or if you have a cold. It instantly makes you feel warm and it wraps itself around you like a big bear hug. The scent fills the bath room and lingers on the body long after the bath has passed. It makes for the perfect warming up. Also if you have a cold, it soothes and comforts you as well as clearing the airways.
Hot Toddy left my skin feeling smooth and it actually made me feel really warm despite our house being freezing cold. The only complaint I have about Hot Toddy's is that when you get them from Lush, they always tend to have broken up into a million pieces. I ordered a few from Lush and none of them were whole. Apparently, Lush mail order was sending the bubble bars out before they had completely dried out which was causing the curmbling. Hopefully if they bring them back this Christmas they will have sorted this out as I prefer to receive a whole bubble bar and not a bag full of crumbs.
I highly recommend Hot Toddy if you can get hold of one. It makes for the warmest, most perfect Winter bath. Ever. Even Lush's crumbling mistake cannot knock this product off course for a full 5 stars!
