Lush Marzibain Bubble Bar I love Lush and spend a lot of my browsing time in the Westfield shop in Derby but I also keep my eye out on Ebay for things I know are no longer available in the shop and this was one of my bargains in a job lot from Ebay recently. It is available at times in the retro section on line but I resent the postage costs on there and although I pay postage on Ebay in job lots it seems to be a fairer potage to product balance. This is a bubble bar so you not only get lovely soft water and a great scent but you also get a bath full of creamy bubbles to enjoy as well. Lush say: "Sophisticated sweetness: Marzibain is for those who want a creamy sweet bath, but aren't partial to candy or fruit scents." "We call it Marzibain because it smells like Marzipan but it's for the bath. (See what we did there?) If you've got a sweet tooth but you're on a diet, take a long luxurious bath with one of these and you'll be satisfied." This is of course pronounced Marziban as in bain meaning bath in French rather than bain meaning bane of my life ! For Lush connoisseurs this smell like Snowcake the Lush Christmas soap which is kind of marzipan or almond paste scented soap. It is sort of like an almond biscuit and very sweet sugary almond like and doe remind me of Chritmas as almond to me I a Christmassy sort of smell. LUSH Lush have a very positive attitude and are against animal testing, they fight the cause for many smaller charities and try to avoid wasted packaging, they recycle their pots and reward you for bringing them back too. They are always on the look out to improve their products, use natural ingredients and share the joy of their product with everyone who steps into their shops. They have invented solid shampoos and conditioners so no packaging needed for either of those and they are fabulous for traveling with. They invented toothy tabs as they were concerned about the plastic tubes from toothpaste causing so much landfill. The fact that they use so little packaging means that their hops smell wonderful as all their smelly product are out giving off their great smells. These bubble bars have no packaging and they simply pop them into a mall recyclable paper bag which can even be composted with your garden rubbish. ENJOYING YOUR MARZIBAIN AT HOME You can use this as soon as you bring it home. You can put them in a basket in your bathroom which gives off a great scent in the room but this does make the bubble bars and soaps lose their scent eventually. I personally pop them in my clothes drawers which makes my clothe smell great and the bars and soaps do not lose their scent s as quickly as they are in the cool and dark . It is also a surprise when I rummage in my drawers and find one I forgot I had. WHAT IS MARZIBAIN? This is a rectangular bar with rounded edges and it is a creamy white bar with a real almond in it centre. It isn't the prettiest bubble bar from Lush but I rather like its simplicity. I find the scent a grown up ort of scent and the simple look suits this scent. It sells for about 3.00 usually and weighs about 3,5 oz so it is not huge but I find I can usually get two baths from one bar and often three as I like my bath to smell and have bubble and soft water but not be so bubbly that I am covered in bubbles. USING THIS IN THE BATH The idea is you break the amount off that you want to use and then crumble it under the warm water as your bath is filling. I then swish my bath water around a bit to create a few more bubbles. If you have a spa bath or Jacuzzi bath then a third will give you plenty of bubbles I discovered when we had Jacuzzi bath in various hotel. Being a white colour means that the bath water doesn't really take on much colour but the smell is just lovely; a creamy, war sugary sweet almondy and slightly fruity aroma. The water feels lovely and soft and creamy and the bubbles lovely and creamy too. The scent is quite strong in the bath but not overwhelming. It did linger in the room and go beyond into our bedroom but was not obvious on my skin once I had dried myself. It did leave my skin feeling soft and smelling pleasant but not 'bowl you over' almond like. WHAT IS IN THIS BUBBLE BAR? Well we have sodium bicarbonate which gives the water the creamy soft feel as does the cream of tartar and the two combine to give a bit of a fizz as the bubble bar dissolves in the bath. Benzoin Resinoid gives a wonderful creamy almost vanilla scent. Cassie Absolute which is blackcurrant scent giving the sweet slightly sweet aroma. Rose Absolute is great for your skin and give a slight floral hint to the bar. A whole real almond is there for decoration but you could eat it if you really wanted to. Sadly they also have , Sodium Laureth Sulfate and, Lauryl Betaine both of which have dubious benefits and some believe they cause eczema and other allergies so if you suffer from allergic reaction then check if these cause the problem. RECOMMENDED? I like this bubble bar and get at least two or three baths from this as I feel it is too much to pay for one bath. It smells nice and creamy and gives plenty of bubbles for me. My skin feels soft and smell nice too after my bath which I like. Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same username. ©Catsholiday
As Ive worked my way through most of the bubble bars that are available from Lush recently Ive started searching through their 'Retro' range to see what other amazing products they have to offer - that arent available in store. So a few weeks ago I ordered about 5 new products from the Retro range that Id never tried before and Ive just finished trying them all out so I thought Id start reviewing them now the site is back up and running. Starting with the first one I used 'Marzibain Bubble Bar' which a Lush member of staff actually recommended to me when I said that the Ma Bar was one of my favourites - this one she said was a lot like that but even better if you can believe it. Anyway with a recommendation like that I couldnt pass up the oppurtunity to try this one out and it is definitely one Ill be buying again in the future. Useful Information: Price: £2.75 - 100g bar Stockists: ONLY available from lush.co.uk as part of their Retro range. This one is NOT available in stores. Other Info: 100% vegan & as with all Lush products this has not been tested on animals. This bar in reality is exactly as it appears in the image. It is an off white colour with a large almond stuck in the top - a lot like the Ma Bar. Its not the most attractive bubble bar Lush make Ill say that but in this case its more about the scent and the effects rather than the overall appearance. To use this bar you simply crumble it underneath the tap whilst your running your bath - a lot of people tend to use half a bar at a time but in this case for the full effect I say use the whole thing as it smells much better and works better that way. This bar produces a shed load of bubbles and turns the water a kind of milky, cream colour which looks very relaxing and inviting - perfect after a long day walking about in tis weather! The water feels instantly softer and really silky which is exactly what Ive come to expect from Lush's bubble bars. Also the smell of this is actually amazing. The almond scent is the strongest all the way through and for me this is just like bathing in Disaronno as that is exactly what the smell of this reminds me of - with quieter scents of rose and cocoa butter running through - definitely one of the nicest Lush scents Ive tried and happily it does linger on your skin for ages after youve got out the bath and dried off. This makes my skin smell and feel amazing. After Ive used this in the bath my skin feels super soft and smooth - so much so that I didnt need to use any lotion after bathing with this my skin felt smoother and hydrated enough already. This is one of the nicest bubble bars Ive used from Lush so I cant understand why it was taken out of the stores but thankfully I still got to try it and that is it still very widely available. This has a brilliant smell which lasts for hours and my skin feels amazing after getting out the bath - oh and Im super relaxed so this wins on all counts for me. Highly recommended. Thanks For Reading. x0 Salz 0x
I paid a last visit to the Lush store in Sheffield before leaving (on the day I was due to come home no less!) because I'd heard the store was selling a limited edition batch of Creamy Candy body lotion! When I got there I found that there were some Retro products being sold, and of course I had to pick up a couple! Marzibain dates from the time when bubble bar slices were just that, as opposed to being shaped individually. The bar is a rectangle with rounded corners. It is creamy white in colour and has an almond stuck on the top. I bought this bar because it smelled absolutely amazing - just like marzipan, in fact, or the icing on a cake! Apparently it was a limited edition Christmas product that was kept on in Retro. The bar contains rose and cassie absolutes which add to the delicious smell. It is suitable for vegans. I decided to use half the bar for a luxurious bath one Sunday evening to relax. I crumbled half the bar into the running water and was pleased to see the piles of bubbles it produced. In the bath the water felt like silk, although it didn't change colour. I could smell the delicious almond smell but I do wish it had been stronger as it faded quite a bit. On the plus side, after I got out of the bath I felt really happy and relaxed, and my skin was lots softer. I do think this is a good bubble bar - it produces loads of bubbles and makes skin soft - but I've deducted a star for the lack of smell. At £2.75 it's comparable in price to other Lush bubble bars and can be broken in half and used twice. Definitely worth a try if you like marzipan and bubble baths!
This is one of the really luxurious Lush products which is good enough to eat. It costs £2.75 for a 100g bar of this special marzipan smelling treat. Now I would say you need to be a fan of marzipan to enjoy this I am. It reminds me of christmas cake and also a little shop I used to go in when I visited Oxford which sold marzipan shaped treats which my mom used to buy me if I was good anyway you get the picture I like marzipan. This is available in Lush shops at christmas but you can buy it on the Lush website from there 'Retro collection' all year round. The bubble bar is a off white colour and looks sort of like a lump of marzipan before it has been rolled out, and it has an almond on the top. The bubble bar contains:Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocamide DEA, Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax benzoin), Cassie Absolute (Acacia farnesiana), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Whole Almond (Prunus dulcis), Benzyl Benzoate So what about the experience....... So with this bubble bar you are advised to crumble it under the running water as soon as the crumbles mix with the water the bubbles begin to form and before you know it you have a lovely marzipan smelling bath full of lots of lovely bubbles. The smell is not to overpowering just enough so you know its there but not so much that it fills my flat with the fragrance. The bubble bar makes the water feel really creamy which is lovely and makes my skin feel soft. As this bar costs £2.75 plus the postage and packaging of £3.95 if your not getting it from the shop I would advise you use half first then the other half at another time as it is pricey you may even be able to stretch it to 3 baths if you crumble carefully as the bubbles do come thick and fast. 4 stars for another great bath product the price still gets me though hence why I get others to buy it for me lol.
Marziban was one of the very first Lush bubble bars I tried as I remember getting into Lush one Christmas and picking this up and thinking it looked nice and smelled nice too. This is another bubble bar which is a Christmas bubble bar. It is only available at Christmas time. It is creamy white in appearance with a almond stuck in the stop. It is oval in shape and is solid. This bubble bar is the same scent as my beloved Snowcake - almond and marzipan so it is a must if you love that scent but be aware that it isn't as strong a scent in the bubble bar form as it is in the shower gel form. You can either take the almond off of the bubble bar or leave it in your bath. I always take them out as I don't need to have a almond floating around in the bath. You can break this bubble bar in half so that you can get two uses out of it or you can just crumble it all for one bath. I always do the latter as the scent and bubbles are never as good using just half. To use the bubble bar you simply crumble it under running water and let the water do the rest. As soon as the water hits the crumbs of the bubble bar, masses of bubbles start to form and the scent starts to waft off of the water. I love this bubble bar, I really do but each time I use it, I can't help but be disappointed by the lack of scent. Although you can smell the familar Snowcake scent it is nowhere near as strong as it should be or could be. The scent doesn't last overly long in the bath and it does not linger on the skin. To make the scent a bit stronger, I tend to put a couple of drops of the Snowcake shower gel in the bath with it. The bubble bar does make the water feel creamy and it feels lovely as it laps against your skin. It leaves your skin feeling silky smooth after the bath and my skin always feels lovely after using one of these. I definately recommend Marziban but if you are looking for a strong scent, this is not it. The bubble bar costs £2.50 and is only available at Christmas though it is not guaranteed to make a comeback this year.
Lush Marzibain Bubble Bar is a must have product when I do a stock up of lush stuff. This bubble bar is one that they've discontinued from their bricks & mortar shops but is still available online at www.lush.co.uk or by phone/mail order at £2.75 for a 100g bar (Standard UK deliver is £3.95 per order up to 30kg) Those familiar with lush will know what a bubble bar is & does but for those who don't: A lush bubble bar looks a bit like a bath bomb but isnt round and is slightly squishy. You pop it in the bath, under running water and as it melt it scents & colours the water and while doing so creates lots of lovely bubbles, just like a standard bubble bath (but without the nasty chemicals!) This particular bar is a favourite of mine as (like the name suggests) it smells exactly like Marzipan - yummy! The scent comes from whole almonds, and Cassie & Rose Absolute oils. It really makes me want to eat it, but that wouldn't be clever and I don't think it would taste as nice :) Lush recommend you crumble the whole bar under running water. I use a whole one if I'm having some serious relaxing "me time" but otherwise half a bar is more than sufficient. Also instead of crumbling it under the tap, I have a shower head mixer tap on my bath and find I get lots of light, fluffy bubbles by placing the half bar in the empty bath and sqooshing the shower head right onto it while frothing the water! The water turns a slightly milky colour as the bar itself is off-white and after a nice soak my skin is lovely and silky soft. A great bonus is that the Marzibain Bar is suitable for Vegans, so everyone can enjoy. Just don't forget to take the real whole almond decoration out of the bath before you get in, or you could end up with a sore bum, lol.
I got this Lush bubble bar for Xmas off a mate, I've used Marzibain before and loved it so was mega excited to get another one especially because it's part of the retro Lush range and not available in the shops only online. It's got a gorgeous smell before it goes in the bath and is just like marzipan, it's quite boring to look at and it is a plain off white bubble bar with an almond stuck in the top. You only have to use half of this bubble bar to get loads of bubbles in your bath, it tells you to crumble the bar under warm running water but I think you get more bubbles a lot quicker if you do it under the cold tap. As soon as you crumble the bubble bar into your bath you get a wicked sweet smell in the bathroom, it's deffo a marzipan smell and is loads stronger than I thought it would be. You get LOADS of bubbles using half a bar and to give you an idea I'll tell you that the surface of my bath water was covered in bubbles and they stood at least an inch off the top of the water. The bubbles are thick and strong as well and don't disappear while I was lying in the bath. When I got into the bath I saw straight away how soft the water has gone after using this bubble bar. The water smells of the same gorgeous marzipan smell and I can feel on my skin how moisturising it is. Last night I used it in the bath and relaxed in the bubbles for about an hour, when I got out and dried myself my skin felt mega smooth and soft. I had used the bubbles to wash myself and I think that's part of what was so moisturising as well as the essential oils in the bubble bar that went into the water. The delish marzipan smell lasted on my skin for ages, if you're not mad keen on very sweet smells then this might be a bit overpowering for you but I love it because marzipan is one of my fave smells ever. The Marzibain bubble bar costs £2.75 but it's one of them you can deffo get 2 baths out of so is worth the money I reckon for such a wickedly moisturising bath. Recommended!!!
Lush Marzibain Bubble Bar Description: Brand: Lush / Type: Bath Foam / This Marzibain is one of those Lush specials for people with a sweet tooth who dont want to eat too much sugar. www.lush.co.uk This is another one of the products that Lush decided were too good to be consigned to the past and so are selling online as part of their "Retro" range. You can buy this bubble bar along with heaps of other treats from the Retro range on their website. In case you don't know what a bubble bar is, these bars are solid but when crumbled under warm running water, fill our bath with deliciously scented fluffy bubbles which last for ages. They are not the cheapest of products but one bubble bar can be used for two or even three baths depending on how frugal you are feeling. Sometimes the bubble bars colour the bath water too. If you are not familiar with the brand, Lush create hand made cosmetic products from only natural ingredients. Not only do they never test on animals themselves but they also won't by from suppliers who do either. Lush also carry out a wide range of charity work and campaigns, both in this country and across the world. You can find more details on their website as well as product information (including ingredients) and also locate your nearest store, and of course, purchase their Retro range. This 100g Bubble Bar will cost you £2.75 and is suitable for vegans. The fragrance of this bar is delicious, I am not sure why it was ever decided to take it off the shelves! If you like the smell of marzipan then you are sure to like this one. It has the most delicious almond scent which fills the whole room and lingers on your skin for hours after bathing. I easily get three baths from one of these bars and each one is filled with loads of bubbles which last for ages too. Ingredients are as follows; Sodium Bicarbonate, Cream of Tartar (Tartaric acid), Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Betaine, Perfume, Cocamide DEA, Benzoin Resinoid (Styrax benzoin), Cassie Absolute (Acacia farnesiana), Rose Absolute (Rosa damascena), Whole Almond (Prunus dulcis), Benzyl Benzoate} *Occurs naturally in essential oils This bar also leaves my skin feeling smooth and soft, and despite me having sensitive skin, never irritates. The fragrance is quite relaxing and soothing and you cannot help but feel chilled out and refreshed after your bath. For me, this is one to be enjoyed before bed because once I manage to drag myself from the bath, I feel so chilled out that I don't want to do anything! Remember that you can only buy this online so why not have a look now. All orders placed online will arrive packaged in popcorn instead of polystyrene which is kinder to the environment. I usually find that they arrive within a few days of being placed and are always correct too.
Originally a Christmas special edition, Marzibain is now available all year round via Lush on-line or mail order hidden away in their retro section. I'd purchased this bubble bar as I was looking for a bubble bar to complement a bar of Snowcake soap I'd been sent as part of a spend £30 get £10 worth of goods free offer. Lush describe this bar as "a sweet cake that smells just like marzipan, whole almonds with a hint of rose and cassis absolutes make it smell like tasty almond icing." Sounds pretty nice, doesn't it? Costing a fairly reasonable £2.75 Marzibain is a pearly white oblong of delicately scented goodness topped with a whole shelled almond. Whilst dry, sweet almond is the dominant scent with a very slight floral undertone, that could be the rose, but is not that distinctive to my nose. As with all Lush bubble bars using this couldn't be simpler, simply start running a bath and then crumble the bar under the tap. Lush recommends using each bar in a single bath, but personally I normally find that a third or even quarter of a bar gives me the perfect amount of scent and bubbles. So I cut this into three pieces so giving me three baths for the price of one (I would recommend storing the unused bits in a Tupperware style container to keep them fresh). This is one of the harder bars to cut, and is definitely the hardest to crumble out of those I've tried. Once I've crumbled the bar into the water my hands do feel quite oily, but it's easy enough to remove this oil by swishing my hand in the water, which in turn starts the bubbles off. As my bath ran the wonderful aroma of almonds filled my bathroom and wafted throughout the whole flat. I wouldn't say that it smelt of marzipan though, it was a far more natural and pleasant scent than that. As the bath filled the water was coated with a layer of soft, dense bubbles, I've always found that the bubbles from Lush bubble bars are always far more dense than with other brands. Although many bubble bars change the colour of the water, as this is an off-white colour it doesn't change the appearance of the water. It did however, turn the water beautifully soft, as I found as I got into the bath. And what a bath, the fragrance, while delicate, was divine, the water was luxuriously soft, the bubbles incredibly moisturising and in all in all such a relaxing experience that I didn't want to end. But as they say, all good things must come to an end, and after ¾ of an hour the water had started to become distinctly cold and so it was time to rub the remaining bubbles (and there were still lots) into my skin so that I got the maximum cleaning and moisturising effect. After getting out of the bath and drying myself my skin felt wonderfully clean and soft, and I didn't feel the need to moisturise. Unfortunately the scent of almonds didn't seem to really linger on my skin, I got the occasional waft for about an hour, but it was very subtle and didn't last very long. It did, however, linger in the bathroom for a bit longer. One thing I can say is that the bath left me feeling incredibly pampered and relaxed, especially as the bar didn't stain the bath and so left it easy to clean. In case you haven't guessed, I love this bubble bar. It may not be as strongly scented as other bubble bars or turn the water a funky colour, but it still creates a wonderful bathing experience. I will be saving the rest of this for those times when I want a more gentle and sensuous bathing experience. As with all Lush products, Marzibain, is hand-made with as natural ingredients as possible, being solid means there is very little packaging (mine arrived 'naked'), none of the ingredients are tested on animals and it is vegetarian friendly. In actual factual Marzibain is also suitable for vegans. All this adds up to a far more environmentally friendly bath. Marzibain is also one of the more grown-up bubble bars, it looks elegant, smells delightfully sophisticated and would make a great present for any female friend or relative. At £2.75 it is one of the more expensive bars (although by no way the most expensive), but I needed to use one third of a bar and still felt incredibly pampered, and this is a 'retro' product that cannot be bought in the High Street stores. Therefore, I still feel this was excellent value for money and will be buying again when I make my next on-line order. Marzibain gets an extremely reasonable four and a half stars out of five from me, only losing half a star due to it only being available on-line or by mail order and therefore incurring a delivery charge.
Recently I have reviewed the Mr Butterball bath ballistic and the Christmas Kisses bubble bar, both of which came in a Lush Christmas gift set. The third and (sadly!) last item in the set was the Marzibain bubble bar which I used half of last night. According to the Lush website, the bubble bar is named Marzibain because 'bain' is French for bath, and is pronounced 'ban'. Therefore 'Marzibain' should be pronounced 'Marziban' to rhyme with the lovely almond icing treat marzipan. The bar is a creamy colour and has an almond deeply embedded in the top of it. Now is the time to advise you all NOT to eat this almond - I'm sure it is a real almond but I'm equally sure it will not taste nice after a few weeks of nestling inside a bubble bar. The bubble bar is supposed to smell like marzipan but to be honest I don't think it does, which is a shame as I am a massive fan of marzipan! However it does smell really nice, with a mixture of almond and something light and flowery. This is probably due to the almond and rose oils which have been added to the bar. To use the bar you just crumble it under warm running water and leave it to bubble up in your bath. I cut my bubble bars in two first to avoid mess, though if you're rich you can use the whole bar in one bath (or if you're strapped for cash or just sensible, you can cut it into three or possibly even four pieces). I found that the bar left quite a few bubbles, though not as many as I was expecting. The bubbles were soft and frothy and the water was quite silky. The scent wasn't as strong as I anticipated and seemed to fade quite quickly which was a great shame. Also, unlike other bubble bars I have used this did not change the colour of the water which makes it distinctly less exciting. After the bath my skin didn't feel any softer than usual but I could smell a slight hint of almond and rose left on it. Of the three Christmas items I've just tried, this was the most disappointing as it was not much better than a normal bath from cheap bubble bath. The scent was too light, the bubbles weren't as excessive as I'd have liked and the water didn't change colour, so it was all a bit of a non-event. Unlike most of the Lush Christmas items, which are only available for the Christmas period, the Marzibain bubble bar can actually be bought all year round via the retro Lush section on the Lush website. However it is only available in stores at Christmas time. It costs £2.75 which is obviously a lot for one or even three baths, but that's pretty standard for Lush, and after all, it is supposed to be a special indulgence rather than an every day item. Personally, though, I won't be buying one or even hoping to receive one as a gift.
Marzibain was one of the first bubble bars I tried (do I say that about all of them? I have a rubbish memory! But,no - this one really was one of the first!) It's creamy-white in colour and apparently has an almond in the top (mine never seem to have the bits they're meant to on the top,but it dosn't matter as I'd normally just take them out anyway) It's a sort of oblong circular shape. This one smells of pure almond-marzipan goodness. To use it you simply crumble some (I use about a third at a time) under running water or onto the bottom of your bath tub. As soon as the water hits the crumbs, your bath will start to fill up with lovely thick bubbles. The bubbles this one produces,if anything, are even thicker and softer than from some of the other bubble bars (saying something,as the bubble bars were DESIGNED to produce amazing bubbles!) and the whole bathroom will smell almondy. A third of the bar produces plenty of bubbles, any more and I think you'd be wasting it - so it does three baths! As for what this does for your skin - as with most almondy sort of products, this does leave your skin feeling lovely - it softens it up a treat and moisturises without leaving you greasy. I'd definately reccomend it to all almond, marzipan or bubble bath lovers!
This is my favourite Lush bubble bar of all time! It's incredibly indulgent and relaxing, as well as doing wonders for my dry skin. It was originally brought out as a Christmas limited edition, due to it's marzipan scent which I associate with christmas cake- It even comes with a real almond on the top. However it was so popular it has now been added to the retro section of the Lush website, which means it can now be ordered online whenever you need a well-deserved pick me up. It is currently being sold for £2.70, which is very good value as you can get a minimum of 2 amazing baths with it- up to 4 baths if you are frugal. However you do need to factor in postage which is £3.95, as Marzibain can only be ordered online at present. Therefore you really need to be ordering several products to make it worth the hefty postage charges. To use the product, simple break a chunk off and crumble it under running water. Swish the water about a little in order to maximise those gorgeous bubbles. The bubbles are beautifully irridiscent and smell heavenly, a gorgeous blend of almonds and sweetness. It is incredibly relaxing, you can feel all your worries drift away as the bubbles soothe and calm you. When I finally had to drag myself out of the bath (a good 2 hours later!!), my skin was left incredibly soft and smooth, and the gorgeous scent of almondy goodness lingered on my skin for the rest of the day. Marzibain is a bath of sheer blissful indulgence. My skin loves it and it puts me in a calm but happy mood for the rest of the day. I really can't recommend it highly enough, everyone should give this a try when they are feeling a bit low or run down and in need of a treat.
As part of a bid to stop eating so much sugar I thought about trying chocolate and sweet scented bath products. Lush seemed the best choice as everything is made from natural ingredients making the scent would be more authentic. The Marzibain smells absolutely lovely - it has a really strong scent of marzipan and also makes the most amazing amount of bubbles. I accidently dropped more in the bath than I intended and had a bath that was half water and half bubbles! I would recommend cutting this up first out of the way of the water. The thing I love most about Lush products is that you can still smell the scent on you hours later, and this was no exception. I think in comparison to the bath bomb and ballistics this is better value as you can cut the bar up and control how long it lasts. With the bombs and ballistics there is nothing you can do but drop them into the bath whole! I also prefer getting the bubbles with the bars as I have to have bubbles in my bath! I think that at £2.45 this bar is expensive compared to a bottle of bubble bath which last a lot longer, but it is a treat and other treats like a takeaway or even a drink in a bar are often more expensive, so I still think that it is value for money if pampering is your way to relax. I'm off to the Lush (www.lush.co.uk) website now after writing this to order myself a little non-fattening treat!
I ordered this Lush Marzibain bubble bar for £2.45 from the Lush website as it's listed under the retro items and I really wanted to try this out. I love all things sweet and scents that smell like desserts so this seemed the perfect retro item to try. I never had the chance to get these when they came out and were being sold in the Lush shops as I've only just discovered them about a month or two ago. This bubble bar smells of marzipan and almonds and it's cream with a little almond in the top, which I think is really cute. It does look and smell good enough to eat (but luckily I know better). There's also rose in this bubble bar and that must be the ingredient that gives the scent a soft hint of some flower but at first I couldn't really place the scent. It's very soft and pleasant smelling though. So what you're meant to do is either take a piece (but I like to use the whole thing as for some reason I don't feel that I'm having the most luxurious bath I could possibly get with just a bit) and then you crumble it up under the running bath water and it creates mountains of beautifully scented bubbles, softened water and when it's a coloured bubble bar, will turn your water a cute bright colour as well. This one didn't turn my water any other colour but it did make the water's texture feel like silk and did a great job at moisturising my skin as well. I really like the scent of this bubble bar and I also found that the scent lasted throughout my bath and lingered on my skin for a good few hours. It's a very relaxing bath product and I just love how silken the water feels. The thick blanket of bubbles is also awesome and I find it wonderfully relaxing and calming. I will definitely be buying more of these as they are fantastic and a great pampering treat. I'd recommend these to anyone with a sweet tooth who enjoy soft scents and moisturising formulas.
I received no less than four of these Marzibain Bubble Bars for Christmas, included in a couple of gift boxes and as individual gifts from friends who know I adore not only Lush in general but also the smell of marzipan. I'm not sure why, but I only got around to using one this evening and I absolutely love not only the smell of it but also the fantastic effect it had on my skin. As soon as I unwrapped the bubble bar I could smell the delicious aroma of almonds, this disappointed me somewhat as I was hoping for the rich and sugary scent of marzipan itself and not just the nut used in its creation! This disappointment soon turned however when I crumbled half of the bar under the warm running water, this is the point at which the aroma intensifies and develops into a much more marzipan-like smell which filled my bathroom and beyond with its luscious scent. The bubbles were fine even using just half the bar, but I ended up crumbling the other half under the cold tap as I'd accidentally put the unused portion in a puddle of water which meant it had to be used. After the whole bar went in I was amazed by the amount of bubbles which appeared on the top of my bath water and by this I don't just mean there are lots of bubble in the water, there are masses of them in large fluffy clumps and a thick foam which stretches the length of my bath. I sank gratefully into my bath and instantly noticed how soft the water is after the addition of this bubble bar, the bubbles don't pop as much as I thought they would and are substantial enough to simply move themselves out of the way as I slouch back on them. The steam rising from my bath is filled with the aroma of marzipan and as I pick up a handful of the bubbles I soon realised these are strongly scented too. I soaked for an hour with a good book, when I got out and dried myself I was surprised to find how soft my skin felt. It was not only beautifully scented with a sweet marzipan aroma but also felt smoother to the touch and extremely well nourished. I'd used the bubbles to wash myself and this combined with the long soak left me feeling squeaky clean and nicely moisturised. I didn't need to apply a body moisturiser until the following morning, which is unusual for me, and even then a small amount of the scent remained and fought to be noticed above the plain lotion I'd chosen to use. I'm rather impressed with this one, unfortunately it's one of those bars which are only around over the Christmas period so I'll just have to make my remaining three last as long as possible. Cutting each of them in half will ensure six lovely baths and surely they'll be back in Lush by November so perhaps a Marzibain bath every six weeks until then? Oh, I don't know if I can last that long! The silver lining is that these appear in the Lush Retro range so can be purchased online at the reasonable price of £2.45 - which is no doubt how I shall be buying mine from now on as using this little gem once every six weeks just is not going to happen.
This Marzibain is one of those Lush specials for people with a sweet tooth who dont want to eat too much sugar; its a sweet cake of bubble bath from the Bubble Bar that smells just like marzipan with the added bonus fragrance of almonds with a hint of rose and fruity cassie buds /
