“ Brand: Lush / Type: Massage Bar „
I went into my local lush shop and promised myself that I would only have a quick look. I was on a budget at the time saving for my wedding so any extra cash I had was going into our wedding fund. As I was looking round lush I started to browse the massage bars. I had previously bought a muscle massage bar and loved the way the oils made my skin feel but was not a huge fan of the smell. Already my will power was fading. The lovely sales assistant approached me and I explained that I was just browsing. Before she left me to browse she pointed out a few of the cheaper massage bars and told me about their fantastic deal. Buy two massage bars and get a tin free. This was my sign that surely by spending money I was in fact saving money.
The tin is solid and silver in colour with the lush logo on the top. The tin has a lid which is easy to open and close. The tin is also water proof which ensures that if you keep your massage bars in the bathroom then they are safe from any moisture or water from the shower. The tins are large enough that they hold all the different types of massage bars that lush sell.
I found these tins really useful and for free who can go wrong. I know technically I had to buy two massage bars first but the smell so nice and make my skin feel great so it's not really a bad thing. I would definitely recommend the lush massage bar tin. I use mine for my stinky wiccy muscle massage bar which would stink the bathroom out if it were not in a tin.
Sorry guys, yet another Lush review from me!
I've fairly recently discovered a new found love for their massage bars (reviews coming soon). These bars are designed to melt at skin temperature. Whilst this works wonderfully in relation to the bar it does cause a bit of an issue in relation to storage. If it's stored anywhere too warm it melts, unfortunately I feel the cold easily and so like my house to be warm. Of course I could get around this by storing the bar in the fridge but then I'm putting a very cold bar against my skin - not the best feeling!
What I needed was a way to keep my bar close to room temperature but cool enough to prevent it melting. That's the problem Lush were trying to solve when they created this massage bar tin.
These tins are made from the same thin, lightweight metal as the solid shampoo tins. They are the same shape as the long oval massage bars such as "into thin air". The tin measures 11cm by 7cm and has the Lush logo embossed on the top.
According to the Lush website these tins fit therapy, fever, each peach and two's a pear. However I currently have wiccy magic muscles in mine and it fits so I would also say that it fits that and into thin air. Why they couldn't make it so it fits them all or do different ones to fit the bars I don't know but please do bear this in mind if you don't have one of these bars.
As for whether or not it stopped the bar melting I have kept my bar in this tin on my desk. Behind the desk is a radiator which is on during cold days and my desk is also below my window so obviously gets the sun on hot days. Now I probably will move it during summer since I don't think keeping it in direct sunlight is a brilliant idea but for now, that's where it stays. Despite being in sunlight and close to a warm radiator I have never had a problem with the bar melting. The tin seems to stay cool enough to keep the bar from melting but it still keeps it warm enough to be comfortable on my skin.
I usually use the bar and then put it straight into the tin. Whilst this does mean that the bar hasn't completely solidified before going in I only very rarely have a problem with it sticking to the tin. If you do find this to be a problem for you then a small amount of greaseproof paper used to line the tin will combat this.
These tins cost £2.95 when bought but you can get one free when you buy any two massage bars. I probably wouldn't buy one as despite the protection they offer that does seem a little expensive especially since they don't fit all bars. I got mine by buying two bars and I am very happy with it, I certainly wouldn't turn down an offer to get another.
I'm going to give it four out of five as it is very good and does the job but I recommend getting one only if you get it free or if they drop the price. I wouldn't pay the £2.95 for it and therefore don't recommend that you do either.
I'm lucky, I have a Lush shop in my town, which means on the rare occasions that I go into town you can guess where I like to head! Well I was in there recently buying some bits and pieces, a couple for me, and a couple for a friend's birthday, and amongst other things, I bought two of those massage bars that Lush sell.
Well, I knew that when you buy two of the round solid shampoos they give you a free shampoo tin, but I didn't know that they do the same thing with the massage bar tins, so I was very pleased when the sales girl pointed it out to me.
The tin itself is much the same as the shampoo bar ones, except for being a different shape. Instead of round, it's oval, but it has the same LUSH word embossed into the top, and is a push fit designed to just fit snugly around one of the massage bars.
Now having bought one of the bars for myself - they do a wikki muscle rub one which is excellent! I have to say I was quite glad to get this free tin as massage bars are sticky slippery things to deal with and you don't really want to use a whole one at one time, so having somewhere sensible to store it makes a lot of sense to me. Stops it from melting all over the side or anything, and before I'd always put mine in a plastic tub but this is much more suitable and easy to keep in the drawer and find when I want it again.
I would say make sure the tin is open ready to pop the bar back into when your done rather than trying to open the tin with slippery hands lol, trust me its not easy to do.
I've never done it, but a friend of mine tells me that she uses the tin to hold the bar while she warms it on the radiator so that when she applies it, it's already slightly liquid instead of having to warm it in her hands - but then she's always got cold hands so that's probably a really good idea for her, and I think I'd be a bit worried about it going everywhere if I did that.
If you buy the massage bars regularly, or if you're buying a couple as a gift for someone I'd definitely recommend getting one of these as a freebie to keep your bars in. Like with the shampoo bar tin, I don't know if I'd want to spend £2.95 on one after all it is just a tin, but to get it free with the double purchase is a nice touch I think.
I hadn't bought a Lush massage bar tin up until recently because I'd always thought they were a waste of money. However, I decided to pick one up on a recent shopping trip because I thought bars would last longer compared to just the ususual Lush yellow paper bags.
These tins are available for around £2.95, and if you buy two massage bars you get a free tin. This is slightly annoying because it means you'll always have one more bar than tin; I wanted to just buy the tin and a bar, but the pushy sales assistant convinced me to pick up another bar, adding another £3-4 to my original spend. So rather than eliminating the problem of not having a tin, I seem to have maintained it!
The tin is oval shaped and will not hold all the different shapes of Lush massage bars easily, so check before you buy. The tin is made out of very thin metal and is fairly cheap-looking; however it does the job of storing bars safely and is an essential for holidays.
The tin also has the 'Lush' name/logo embossed in the top, which is a nice touch.
However, I do feel that this tin is quite overpriced for what it is; an essentially rather cheap box. I feel that Lush have taken advantage of customers with this as it is something that's needed for travel/proper storage of massage bars and it's not got the best offer with 'buy two massage bars, get a tin free'. I suppose eventually you'd get to the stage where you'd have the right number of tins and massage bars, but it just seems likely a thinly veiled attempt to get you to buy more.
This tin is available from Lush stores, where it can be found with the massage bars, and can also be purchased from the lush website, www.lush.co.uk.
Overall, I'd be tempted to buy a much cheaper travel soap holder if you can find one in the right size, because I feel this is too expensive and you're really paying for the Lush branding rather than anything else. However, it would make a nice gift when accompanied by a massage bar or two; it's just not something I'd be happy to buy again at that price.
- Keeps bars safe and clean
- Looks fairly nice
- Good at part of a gift
- Quite cheap feeling
- Too expensive
- Annoying deal associated with them
- Not suitable for all bars
Now before I talk about this product, I must admit that I am a total Lush addict. I find it hard to resist having a browse in the store when I smell the strong, but highly appealing scent coming from inside.
Lush is a company that specialises in freshly made cosmetics and bathroom goods. Every product is handmade, and contains natural ingredients. Lush guarentees that every product that they stock is not tested on animals, only "willing human beings", and the products are environmentally friendly. Products range from bubble bars (bubble bath), bath ballistics (bath bombs), haircare products, perfumes and much more.
This Lush Massage Bar Tin is an excellent product for those fans of massage bars. The tin is big enough to store one massage bar, and is an ideal way of packing one of your favourite massage bars away in your suitcase for your holiday. The massage bar tin manages to successfully protect your massage bar from getting dirty, and prevents the oils in the massage bar from messing up surfaces or fabrics. I have found that when keeping a massage bar in this tin, it also helps to preserve the lovely scent of the bar, which, without a tin, can at times fade when exposed to air.
The tin has a silver metallic look to it, caused by the material (tin) used to create it. The Lush logo is endorned in the companies font on the front of the tin, so you will always know what is contained inside of the tin. It is also a very easy product to use. The lid simply pops off without difficulty, and the massage bar is easy to slot in, and take out when needed. The tin is also rather strong, and is hard to break, and because of this, it should last you for a very long time.
Due to it's smooth tin design, it is very easy to clean out. Simply use a sponge or damp cloth and wipe out any leftover massage oil. It is fit to accept a new massage bar in no time!
The massage bar tin will cost you £2.95, but you will get a free one if you purchase two massage bars at the same time. However, it is quite a cheap price, so I'd reccomend paying for another one, so at least you can store your two massage bars at once. The tin is quite attractive, and of a great size, so it will be easy to store in a bag, a drawer, a bathroom cabnet, or even on display in your bathroom. The tin should last you for a very long time, and it prevents your massage bar from spreading it's oils over your storage place. You will find that your massage bar stays clear of any dirt which it may pick up if it was not in one of these tins, and the scent stays as strong as it was when you first picked it up in one of the Lush stores. A great price, and an excellent reuseable item, this is a must for Lush Massage Bar fans! Hopefully Lush will follow suit and sell storage tins for their other products, such as the Bubble Bars, soon!
On a recent browse of the Lush website I realised that if I purchased two of my favourite massage bars I would receive a free tin for storing one of those massage bars in worth £2.95. I was definitely swayed in to placing two bars in to my online basket by the thought of a nice free gift and one worth almost £3.
When my tin turned up I was very pleased with the weight and the style of the product. This tin is adorned with the Lush branding and is a nice stainless style effect so it looks nice and stylish if I leave this out on my bedside table for easy access.
The tin has a nice sturdy feel to it and it's easy to pop the lid off and pop in my favourite massage bar. I found that this tin fits most of the massage bars and I read on the website that it's actually designed for Therapy, Fever, Each Peach & Two's A Pair so a nice range of the Lush products are covered. I have also cut some of the other bars in half to ensure that they will be able to fit in to my new tin once I am ready to start using them.
This tin stops the massage bars from melting all over the place and making a mess. Also it means that I'm not spending £5 or £6 on something and then wasting some of it by it melting all over my shelf. The tin means that the bars are kept in their nicely and it keeps everything nice and cool so that they don't start to melt before you want to use them. The tin is nice and easy to clean as well just give it a simple wipe with a damp cloth to remove any excess mess and residue.
Another top tip that I have come across is to place the tin on your radiator for a few minutes (be careful when moving it off as it will be hot) and this will heat up the massage bar gently and mean that the bars are ready to be used immediately rather than you having to rub them between your hands to get the oils warmed up and dripping from the bar.
I really do think that this is a fantastic product as it's saving me time and money by not wasting loads of my product and it means that I always have a massage bar to hand. This tin is well designed and it's very sturdy and I feel that even at £2.95 it's a reasonable price for something that helps to keep my bedroom mess free from the oils in the massage bars.
If you use the Lush massage bars then I would definitely recommend this tin to you as it should hold at least one of your favourites and when you've finished with your current bar you can just rinse it out and then place your next one in ready for use. They are very versatile and I am sure I will use them for some different products in the future as well when I don't have a massage bar on the go.
These really are a fabulous idea and a must-have for any Lushie. The tin is made in a shape that fits most - but sadly not all - of Lush's massage bar products. Massage-tin-shaped bars include: Each Peach (And Two's A Pair), Fever, Therapy, Wiccy Magic Muscles. It can also contain the smaller bars including: Irridescent Glitterbug, Shimmy Shimmy, and Soft Coeur.
It is easy to open, even with slippery massage-bar hands, and keeps the product fresh and safe from changes in temperature. It is much safer than storing the massage bars in the Lush paper bags as they are prone to melting, and the oils and colours can leach out out onto the paper. Although, if you want to intentionally melt the bar, for example to give a hot oil massage, place the bar in the tin and leave on a radiator for a few minutes until the heat melts the surface of the bar. This is wonderfully indulgent and the tin avoids messy spills.
The best thing about this packaging is that it's reusable and very durable, making it eco-friendly and saving you money. To save even more money, simply pick one up when you buy 2 of Lush's massage bars and they give you the tin for free.
RRP for tin = £2.95
RRP for massage bars = starting from £3.65
A must have item for any Lush fan! This tin is a simple and stylish way of preventing 'massage bar mayhem'. As every Lush fan knows massage bars are designed to melt, and melt they will.... in your handbag on the way home! That's why you need a tin. It keeps it cool and away from valuables on the trip home, it's perfect storage for at home-just pop it in the tin and put it in your drawer. You can also rest your bar in it mid massage to prevent greasy mess on your bedside cabinets! Tins are free when you buy two massage bars but well worth buying as they are pretty cute and very practical and as with all good Lush products it helps save the environment. Simply take your empty tin with you back to the store and pop your next massage bar, soap slice or bath melt inside.A massage must have from Lush!
I love the Lush massage bars, but when they have been used its difficult to know where to put them as they melt when close to anything warm and the scent starts to fade if you leave them out, which is why the Lush massage bar tins are such a great idea.
The tin is a silver coloured metal and has Lush embossed onto the lid. The lid comes on and off easily - although you do need to wash your hands first if you have been using the massage bar because it is quite difficult to do with oily hands.
The tin costs £2.95 if you want to purchase it on its own, however you can get a tin for free by purchasing any 2 of the Lush massage bars.
The tin is an oval shape which is not ideal for all the massage bars; you can easily fit the following into the tin -
Each Peach and Twos a Pair
Wiccy Magic Muscles
Cosmic dream catcher
Into thin air
Each of those massage bars an oval shape like the tin.
You may also be able to fit in the smaller massage bars such as soft couer shimmy shimmy and the irredesant glitter bug.
However there are still 9 Lush massage bars which will not fit in the tin either because they are rectangle circular or some other shape.
I find it disappointing that the bars do not all fit into the tin and no other massage bar tin shape is available.
I think Lush should make all their massage bars in the oval shape as they are much easier to use in that shape and they would then all fit into the tin too.
Sometimes I use my tin for other things such as storing soap if I am going away - I always cut my Lush soap into smaller pieces as I find it either shrinks or goes a bit soft if I use too much at once, so I cut a piece about 2 or 3 inches from my bar and then I keep it in the massage bar tin to keep it fresh, I have also kept my little Lush toner tabs in the massage bar tin as well, so it does have many uses.
I think for £2.95 it is a good buy, it is worth that money although personally I would not buy it, I would just get it free with some massage bars - the 2 cheapest bars are£3.65 each so for just £7.30 you could have two massage bars and a tin to keep them in which I think is great value.
You can purchase / get your free tin from any Lush store, through Lush mail order or from the Lush website.
I have given the Lush massage bar tin a score of 4 out of 5 because it is good value, it has many uses and I have found it does not rust even though it is kept on the bathroom window which is prone to condensation, however a point is deducted because it is not able to house all of the massage bars.
I paid a visit to a couple of Lush stores lately and while on one visit to Covent Garden I was tested out with lots of lovely products and was willingly coaxed in to buying a few nice massage bars and such like and I received this massage bar tin for free when I purchased two massage bars.
The massage bar tin is quite catchy with it's brushed steel and the word Lush emblazoned on the top in chunky font that stands out. The tin is in two parts and you just need to pop it open which is very easy and the tin doesn't stiffen up or cease opening for any reason (well, it hasn't for me). This tin is very useful for storing massage bars (amongst other things) and the one that I currently store in mine is the 'Each Peach (And Two's A Pair) bar which is exactly the same shape as the tin just slightly smaller. The massage bars stay in perfect condition in these tins and it just means I can throw the tin in to my wash bag and not have to worry about water or light or anything else making the massage bar melt away and therefore waste my money.
The Lush Massage Bar Tin is available from Lush stores for £2.95 or can be received free of charge when you purchase two massage bars which is fantastic if you are going to be buying some already, as I was. The first bar I purchased was £6.00 but the second one was only around £4.20 so I was very pleased with this freebie.
I really like the look of this tin as while it's fairly basic it serves it's purpose very well and providing you don't live the tin in a hot place or in direct sunlight then this tin will protect your massage bar from all the elements and will mean that you always know what it's stored when you want to use it. The Lush massage bars are fantastic anyway and I will be buying a couple more on my next visit and no doubt I will get another massage bar tin for free as it's nice to be organised and everyone loves a freebie don't they.
I think that the £2.95 price tag for this is perfectly reasonable and if I only ever purchased one of the cheaper bars then I would be willing to pay for this outright because it's so handy to have around.
There are three or four massage bars that are the right shape to fit this tin and some of the shampoo bars and other items in Lush can fit in this tin too just because they are on the smaller side. I actually purchased one massage bar that does not fit in to this tin (mange too) but I just loved the scent of it so much and maybe in the future I will cut it in to half and then half can live in the tin for when I get another one.
The Lush Massage Bar tin is an oval, metal tin with the Lush logo, in the same style as Lush's other tins for shampoo bars and body butters. Like those tins, there is a permanent offer: buy two massage bars and get a tin free! Otherwise the tin costs £2.95, but there's really no need to ever pay that, just make sure you buy all your massage bars in pairs!
The tin can also be found inside the Lush Legends hatbox and with the travel wrap (it comes with one each of the tins).
One thing to say about this tin straight away is that not all of the massage bars can actually fit into it. The massage bars that do fit are:
-Wiccy Magic Muscles
-Each Peach and Two's a Pair
These ones don't fit though:
-Strawberry Feels Forever
However, some of the bars (Soft Coeur, Shimmy Shimmy and Irridescent Glitterbug), although they aren't the right shape, ARE small enough to fit in the tin anyway.
However, even if you choose two massage bars that don't fit in the tin, you can still pick up one free!
This is a really versatile tin anyway: some of the other Lush products that could be kept in the tin include:
-Soaps (smaller pieces)
-Some of the bath melts e.g. Dreamtime
-Snake Oil scalp bar
-Pieces of shower jelly
-Bits of body butter (if you don't have a body butter tin)
You don't even have to keep Lush products in there; they don't even have to be toiletries. This tin is ideal for jewellery or anything else that can fit. You could even use it as an ashtray if you smoke, though I don't suppose Lush would approve!
The lid fits on the tin securely, and doesn't fall off.
This tin is ideal to be used with the product it's meant to be - a massage bar. If you have ever tried a Lush massage bar you will know that they melt at body temperature and can get a bit messy. This tin is an ideal place to keep it. Leaving it in the original paper bag isn't a good idea as the essential oils soak into it.
Wow, I can't believe I've managed to write so much about a tin! What I'm trying to say, I guess, is that if you are buying a Lush massage bar, buy two and get a tin for free - it's really handy to have around!
