This is one of my favourite shower gels, I am a massive fan of Lush products and although they do still have a few nasty ingredients in their products there is less than in many other companies but the main thing for me is that I can come out knowing that the products have not been tested on animals.
I have been using this on and off for about a year now, I was initially drawn to to by one of the friendly sales assistants giving me some to smell! I have a habit of walking around Lush sniffing the nice smelling products and choosing my favourite.
The gel reminds me completely of a seedless raspberry jam and honestly looks good enough to eat!
The product comes in the usual style clear plastic bottles with black lids, you can see the pink gel inside the bottle which always makes me think more of berries than roses due to the deep pink colouring.
The gel is a little on the runny side for my liking but does lather up really nicely so you do not need too much for washing. When I first tried it I was a little concerned about the bright pink colour but it becomes clear as you lather it up and there has been no marking on our white bath or tiles.
The smell of this product is lovely but it is not really rose to me, it has a bit of fruit to it. It does leave the skin really refreshed and soft though!
The product sadly does not have the best list of ingredients by Lush's standards and does contain SLS but then that explains the good lather!
The shower gel comes in three sizes, 100g for £4.75 which I call the travel size containers and buy them often for travel sets. £9.50 for 250g and £15.95 for 500g.
The assistant at the time told me this was limited edition but I have had several and it does not appear to be going anywhere at the moment.
This product is suitable for both vegetarians and vegans and of course not tested on animals.
Would I suggest this product? Even with the SLS yes! The rest of the ingredients are better and most natural. The scent is lovely so do not be fooled into thinking it smells just of roses. It leaves the skin soft and refreshed, what more could you want from a shower gel?
I subscribe to Lush''s emails and when I was sent an email regarding this limited edition goodie, I went straight onto their website and snapped up a 500g bottle of limited edition Rose Jam shower gel. You probably know that I am a crazy loony fan of Lush so whilst I was at it, I popped a few other things into my online basket. The nice packing lady also added quite a few samples.
Wow wow wow! Sooo glad I opted for the largest bottle because it smells even better than I imagined. Like Turkish Delights? Buy a bottle now because it certainly fed my Eastern appetite. I applied a good squirt to my body puff to get a good lather. Not only did the bathroom smell beautiful the rest of the evening, but so did I. From my experience, most shower gels smell in the shower but the smell wares off once you are dry. Certainly not the case with Rose Jam. This scent sticks. At work I''d catch a waft of myself and smile as I felt like I was rolling around in rose petals when in actuality I was standing behind a till. Not quite as wonderful.
I only have one negative thing to say about Rose Jam. After making my purchase, I found out that this fragrance was released as the Lush forums extremely limited edition perfume last Christmas and I missed it!!! That''s the only bad thing so I advice you to stock up on this gorgeous product as it really is a rarity, not only because it''s a limited item but also because it''s so hard to find such a long lasting, heavenly scented gel and once it''s gone, it''s gone for good.
I'm rather obsessed with Lush and got quite excited when I found out from the Facebook page that there was a limited edition Rose Jam shower gel on sale. Unfortunately, it was a mainland Europe-only special, but fortunately most countries do ship to the UK. I bought a couple of bottles from the Lush Netherlands website, chiefly because they very considerately offer an option to translate the site into English! The shower gel was also on sale on the Lush Germany site but my German is pretty rusty and I didn't fancy my chances!
The Rose Jam Shower Gel comes in a clear plastic bottle with a black lid like all other Lush shower gels. The bottle has the advantage of clearly showcasing the product inside, which in this case is a beautiful rich pinky-red colour. It is suitable for vegans and contains vanilla pod infusion, goji berry juice and argan oil, which is rich in Vitamin E and fatty acids and is only produced in Morocco. Other ingredients include lemon oil to refresh and tone, and rose absolute, rose oil and geranium oil to help create the lovely sweet rose scent. These are all quite expensive ingredients, so the shower gel is pretty luxurious.
So what's so special about this product? Well, the Rose Jam range is a comparatively new but very popular range at Lush and it is scented with a sweet rose scent. The rose aspect is very authentic, rather like the Imogen Rose fragrance, but the scent is much sweeter (the 'jam' aspect). It would appeal to anyone who likes sweet floral scents, and I feel it is suitable for all ages, as it is refreshing and sweet yet quite sophisticated.
The in-store range is made up of the Rose Jam Bubbleroon and the Ro's Argan Body Conditioner, and there have also been two limited edition products: the Madame Butterfly reusable bubble bar wand and the Rose Jam forum special perfume. The Rose Jam Shower Gel is a great addition to the range.
The shower gel smells absolutely divine. The authentic rose scent is there, as well as the sweet aspect: it basically smells like the Rose Jam scent. The shower gel isn't too runny, and lathers up really well on a shower puff with only a small amount needed. The lovely smell pervades the shower and it is very luxurious to wash with. My skin feels clean and conditioned after use, which isn't surprising when you think how many lovely ingredients are in this stuff. I need to use a little moisturiser afterwards, but not too much. Sadly, the scent of the shower gel doesn't really last on the skin after use, which is a shame but not too disappointing considering Ro's Argan Body Conditioner has the same scent and can be used afterwards for long-lasting scent.
This is an absolutely divine shower gel that feels really luxurious to use and smells delicious. However I have removed a star because it was very expensive to buy, was only available from mainland Europe and the scent doesn't last on the skin. In spite of this I do recommend the product.
