Lush Rub Rub Rub
Advantages: smells amazing, works well
Disadvantages: slightly on the expensive side
I got a Lush gift set for my birthday and one of the products in it was this Rub Rub Rub scrub. I was aware of this product - I even remember when it was launched alongside Yummy Yummy Yummy a few years ago - but I had never tried it.
The scrub comes packaged in one of Lush's black pots. This is a very plain looking recyclable tub adorned with white writing. When this was first released it came in a bottle, I'm assuming this was changed because the scrub is a rather thick consistency. The main negative I have found of housing the product in a tub is that when used in the shower the tub can become filled with water, therefore I have taken to using it in the bath instead.
Rub Rub Rub is vegan friendly and is described on the packaging as being a blossom-scented sea salt scrub for body and hair. Hair?! Well as someone who has never had the urge to scrub my hair I can't comment on its properties as a hair product, but I can tell you a bit about what it is like as a body product!
The scrub contains sea salt, organic lemon juice, jasmine flower infusion, mimosa absolute, orange flower absolute, jasmine absolute and lemon oil as well as a few other things. The overall scent is absolutely beautiful. It reminds me a little bit of the Big Blue bath ballistic which is one of my favourite Lush products. The scent is floral with the jasmine being quite prominent yet it has a bit of a 'sea' type scent to it in my mind as well. It's quite feminine and also quite a strong scent, which is good as I find it lingers on the skin after using the product.
The scrub is a beautiful blue colour, quite thick and with visible particles of sea salt. I'd say it has a sloppy texture if that makes sense - it's not runny, but not too thick or buttery. It's easy to scoop out a handful and massage it into the skin without too much running off the hands!
The particles in the scrub are not too big or too harsh or jagged feeling against the skin, but they do have a rough texture which reassures me that they are working to exfoliate any dead skin cells. I find that I only need to use a small amount at a time and the product feels slightly oily but doesn't leave any greasy residue on my skin.
I find this scrub to be extremely effective and I have been really pleased with its performance. At this time of year I get a lot of dry, flaky patches on my knees, shins and elbows and this scrub gently yet effectively buffs them away and leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and looking more radiant (and less flaky!) too. The beautiful scent lingers on my skin after use and I just can't fault it performance wise.
I have a 130g tub of this from a gift set, but the full size is 330g and retails at £7.95. Obviously that is not the cheapest on the market, but I would be willing to pay that as the quality is fantastic and only a small amount is needed per use, so one tub lasts a long time. It can be purchased from Lush stores or www.lush.co.uk
Overall I am absolutely thrilled with this product and will definitely be purchasing the full size. It smells wonderful, exfoliates well and leaves my skin feeling amazing, I couldn't ask for more!
Summary: Another winner from Lush!
