“ Brand: Lush / Type: Bath Salt „
I ordered some products from the Lush website recently, among them the Silent White ballistic. I wanted to choose some products that were a little bit festive, and I was drawn by reviews that said that the ballistic was reminiscent of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe! I love all things Narnia and festive so had to choose this ballistic.
The ballistic is designed to cover your bath in a white froth resembling snowfall. It is nothing much to look at, being white in colour, rather like the current Christmas ballistic So White, or the classic Butterball. It is a large ballistic, however. The ballistic contains petitgrain, ylang ylang and patchouli, all exotic sounding oils that are supposedly good for the skin. The ballistic is supposed to be very calming, which appealed to me! While it was still solid I thought it smelled lovely - I could detect the patchouli, which I find a very distinctive scent, but it smelled calming and rather festive - very different from when I smell it in Lush's Karma range, when it reminds me of summer!
As usual I got my book and my glass of wine ready and ran the bath. With Lush ballistics I always run the bath first before dropping them in (as opposed to the bubble bars which need to be crumbled into the water as the tap is running) as I like to lie in the water and watch them fizz away and dissolve. Silent White fizzed away slowly, quietly and peacefully, turning the water a cloudy white that was very relaxing to watch. The patchouli smell was lovely and relaxing and lasted throughout the bath. The water felt soft too.
After I got out of the bath (a good while after getting in!), I could still smell the lovely scent of patchouli on my skin. My skin felt really soft too, and I didn't need to apply moisturiser. I felt incredibly relaxed and had no problem getting to sleep that night!
Silent White is a plain, simple ballistic but it is really quite lovely and I do recommend it. At £2.80 it's one of the cheaper ballistics (though available only via the website or the telephone, being Retro) - it's still comparatively expensive, being a single-use product, but nice for a treat. Great for a relaxing bath to recover from the Christmas rush!
As a devoted Lush fan I was quick to order this bathbomb when it appeared in Lush Times.
It arrived with my other purchases in the post and I was quite excited, promptly ran a bath and dropped it in when....oh dear...MAGGOTS. oh yes, MAGGOTS in the bath.
I didnt notice them until I was happily flapping about in the murky waters. The thing is, the thing didnt smell very much and I remember pondering wether or not the smell had gone as it was from 'retro' lush and maybe it was kept in storage...then I saw something..
After further investigation, I realised I had located - and gathered - on the side of the bath three brown maggots. I sat there, deflated, stunned, wondering if they came from the bath taps. It soon dawned on me that my new little friends were from the bath bomb...
This has never happened before and trust me, I have used alot of Lush so i'm blaming it on the popcorn they use to pack the boxes. I wouldnt use Silent White again, After I complained to Lush and recieved my free ''we're sorry'' gift box, I found that hilariously, they had sent me another Silent White amongst other things. Needless to say, the boring scent didnt do it for me, it didnt soften my skin and it didnt fizz much either..the only exciting thing about this bath bomb was the maggots!
I purchased this ballistic as I had heard so many people rave about it. I wasn't so sure as it was possibly the most plain ballistic I had seen, but as i'd never tried it I thought I should! I believe this product was a Christmas special but it has now been brought back into 'almost' regular Lush (it's in the retro section which means you can only buy it online or through mail order, not from shops).
I placed an order online and was disappointed when it came lacking my Silent White - there was however a note in there saying they were making some fresh ones and it would be sent out asap, which it was.
When I smelt this for the first time, I wasn't overly impressed, it didn't smell of anything too exciting. It was plain white in colour with no bits in it or anything else to make it a little more exciting. It is also the same size as other normal ballistics. I was however still excited to use it so I ran my bath!
I popped the ballistic into my bath, but it didn't fizz as normal ballistics do... it just kind of bobbed around very, very slowly fizzing. As it did this it left a small amount of white froth on the top of the water. As the ballistic is white, other than the froth no other effect was had on the colour of the water.
The scent of it now had changed a little and I would describe it as a clean cotton smell. A very small amount of floral came through but to be honest it just smelt 'clean'! If you are more into recognising individual scents than me, the three main scents detailed in the ingredients are petitgrain, ylang ylang and patchouli.
I found the scent to not be a clinger with the ballistic and was disappointed that the scent didn't hang around on my skin for much longer afterwards. I could still smell it in the bathroom the next morning though!
This is definitely a ballistic for when you want to feel clean and not have an overpowering scent!
This ballistic costs £2.75 and is unfortunately not suitable for vegans.
