''Snow Fairy'' seems quite appropriate with this current snowy weather!

I always receive a tonne of gorgeous fragranced gifts at Christmas, and this year was no exception. One of the gifts that I received was this Snow Fairy Gift Set from Lush. As it was a Christmas gift and therefore I didn't buy it myself I don't actually know how much this was. I've had a quick look on the Lush website and it's not actually listed anymore.

I'd actually never tried Lush's Snow Fairy before receiving this gift set, and was looking forward to trying out some of the products. However slightly disappointingly the gift set only contains one Snow Fairy product - the shower gel. I'd hoped that the gift set would contain just Snow Fairy products, as I'd seen that there was also a lip tint and a solid eau de parfum available.

The Snow Fairy Gift Set contains three products; a 100ml bottle of Snow Fairy Shower Gel, a 60g Angel's Delight Soap, and a 30g Shimmy Shimmy Glitter Bar. It's beautifully boxed in pink snowflake wrapping paper, with a silver ribbon and bell, and a fold out angel gift tag which lists the contents of the gift set.

The Snow Fairy Shower gel is definitely my favourite product in the gift set, and one that I will definitely repurchase. It's a limited edition Christmas time fragrance, so I may have to wait until next Christmas to do my repurchasing! It is bright bubblegum pink and it smells like candyfloss and pear drops and all things sweet and nice, kinda like a sweet shop I guess - sweet and sugary and delicious. The pink shower gel is shot through with a sparkly iridescent sheen, but this doesn't transfer to my skin at all.
It states that you can use this as a shower gel or a shampoo; I've only used it as a shower gel as the bottle is so small I don't want to waste it on my hair! I don't need much of this to create a lovely foaming sweet smelling lather on my skin, and it feels really creamy and moisturising on my skin when I'm rubbing it in. This is a wonderfully moisturising shower gel, my skin doesn't feel dry or tight after using this, just refreshed and clean, and smelling absolutely gorgeous. It rinses off easily, and it just leaves behind the divine candy floss and pear drops fragrance. The sweet fragrance lingers on my skin for absolutely ages after showering, and also the bathroom always smells just like a sweet shop after I've showered with this as well.

The Angel's Delight Soap is in the shape of a star, it's a gorgeous translucent pink colour soap, and it's flecked through with gold glitter. It has a really sweet scent; it's a very fruity scent - sweet oranges and tangerines maybe? The fragrance doesn't really seem to linger on my skin at all, which is slightly disappointing. The gold glitter also doesn't stick to my skin, which isn't as disappointing as I don't want to head out to work every day covered in gold glitter! The soap doesn't lather up that well in the shower; however it does leave me feeling clean and refreshed. The soap isn't moisturising in any way, it doesn't dry my skin out either though, and I do always follow a shower with body lotion anyway. The soap is quite small at just 60g, but it does seem to be lasting really well, in fact it's hardly changed shape at all.
Angel's Delight Soap is apparently a Christmas limited edition, I'm not that sure that I'd buy it again as I do normally prefer shower gels to soaps, and I also like the fragrance to linger more than this one does.

The Shimmy Shimmy Glitter Bar is a heart shaped vanilla scented massage bar or body bar which you rub across your skin to then leave behind a delicate trace of glitter, shimmer and sparkle, and a gorgeous vanilla scent. The bar contains cocoa butter and shea butter which melt at body temperature and then sink softly into your skin and hold the glitter lightly in place on the surface of your skin.
I just literally rub the bar directly over whichever area of my body that I want to highlight with the iridescent gold glitter, normally my shoulders, arms and chest. I just need to stroke this gently over my skin and the heat from my skin then allows the bar to melt slightly onto my skin and allows the glitter to 'stick' to my skin. The glitter in the bar is an iridescent gold colour, it looks lovely on my very pale freckly skin, and I would also imagine that it would also look good with a tan. I find that I don't get an awful lot of glitter transferred from the glitter bar, but I certainly get enough to give my skin a beautiful shimmer without being too over the top. The gorgeous vanilla fragrance is subtle, but it's enough to be noticed if I sniff my skin, and it's not too much that it overpowers any other fragranced products that I may be wearing, the vanilla fragrance lingers on my skin for hours too.
The drawbacks however to the glitter bar are; the glitter does very easily transfer off onto other items, if I cover up with a pashmina or a cardigan then I find that most of the glitter will rub off before I get to my night out. Also if I'm not careful then the glitter bar can actually scratch my skin when I'm rubbing it in, some of the flecks of glitter are definitely very sharp. Finally the bar is actually a bit too greasy on my skin if I use to much of it, if I've rubbed a bit more into my skin to leave more glitter on my skin then I find that my skin has a definite greasy feel to it, less is definitely more with this.
The Shimmy Shimmy Glitter Bar is a regular Lush product, and is therefore available year round. This is another product from the gift set that I'm not sure I'd buy again; I think that there are better products available which leave a shimmery and glittery finish on my skin.

Overall I wasn't hugely impressed with the contents of the Snow Fairy gift set. They are really nice, just nothing special in my opinion. It's certainly a lovely gift set for someone, although I do suspect that like most Lush products it's probably overpriced. I think that it probably deserves a middle of the road 3 stars overall.

      Not worth the price!

I have brought this for myself as well as having it brought for me. It's the Lush Snow Fairy Gift Set and is only available from Lush Cosmetics stores or on the website www.lush.co.uk. You can try out EBay if you are interested also. It retails for £14.95 in store but obviously this will differ on sites such as EBay. You pay a little more money to have it packaged but you get a really cute pink wrapping paper with a bow and a little bell. It's very cute and girly and I was thrilled to both receive it as a gift and repurchase for myself.

You get three items within this gift set and this includes a 100ml (smallest size) of their famous Snow Fairy Shower Gel, a star shaped block of Angels Delight Soap and an Iridescent Glitterbug Massage Bar It's a really cute and pretty gift set you could buy for someone, and it is all of a high quality. I will now tell you what I thought of the products inside:

Snow Fairy Shower Gel - This is without doubt one of my favourite shower gels Lush have to offer, and I really wish they were available all year round. It is a very gorgeous candy pink colour with iridescent glitter that doesn't stick to your skin. When you open the lid the smell is divine. It smells like candyfloss and bubblegum, and is a very sweet scent. If you don't like sweet fruity smells this really isn't the shower gel for you as the scent can be a little overpowering.

Angels Delight Soap - It looks really pretty, particularly in the star shape. It's pink again and has tiny little stars and glitter inside it. It smells very fruity, however this smell doesn't linger on the skin when used. I did find that it wasn't easy to lather up this soap unlike some of other soaps Lush sell and it didn't really have any moisturising properties. It was a very basic soap, although I was pleased with it as I really liked the smell and it looked nice in my bathroom.

Iridescent Glitterbug Massage Bar - I can not stand this. I was always dubious about Lush's massage bar collection at all as they are all quite pricey and I didn't think they'd be any good at all. Needless to say I did try one out and loved it. This one however receives no stars what so ever. It's very small and white with specks of glitter throughout. I guess it looks quite cute but what a bad product it is. When applying it to my skin it was like rubbing sandpaper all down my arms and legs. It was extremely rough which is good for people with dry skin as it is exfoliating. However, this was just far too rough to use, I found it very uncomfortable and wasn't happy with it at all. I only did my arms and a bit of my leg before giving up. The worst thing about this was an hour later, when I noticed glitter absolutely everywhere...on my face, my hands and all over my body. It was that annoying glitter which doesn't come off unless you scratch everywhere. I had a number of showers and exfoliated often and it eventually came off. I was very unhappy with this product!

Overall, I am going to give this product three stars. This is because it is very pretty and is already packagaed which is great. However, I only enjoyed 2 out of the 3 products and had a bad experience with the massage bar. I think that the product is way too overpriced for all it is but I do love the Snow Fairy range and the soap so I am happy to buy it again. Unfortunately this is a limited edition range and is therefore only available at Christmas, along with the two products I like. You can check out Ebay to buy one of these gift sets and the massage bar is available al year round...no idea why you'd have any intention of purchasing it though! Thanks for reading.
