Lush Snow Fairy
Advantages: Smells amazing, soft skin
Disadvantages: fragrance not so strong after shower, only available at Christmas
I love the scent of Lush's Godmother soap (although I have yet to actually try it) and when I found out that the soap was made with the same scent as Snow Fairy shower gel - a product that comes out especially for Christmas, I really wanted to try it. About a month or so ago I was lucky enough to get a little 100g bottle from someone on the Lush forum. As it is a Christmas product, I have waited until now to review it, as the Lush Christmas products have now gone on sale, and I didn't see the point in reviewing it, if it wasn't possible for people to actually go out and buy it. At the time of writing this, the Christmas products are in the shops but not actually online yet, but should be within the next week, I believe.
The shower gel comes in a clear plastic bottle, with flip top lid and has a black label. Like most of the Lush products, the packaging is very simple, as Lush prefer to spend money on the ingredients in the product, rather than the packaging it comes in. The main problem I have found with the bottle - and this goes for all other Lush shower gels in the 100g size - is that the bottle is really tough plastic, and its quite hard to squeeze. This means that sometimes you end up using more than you intended as squeezing the bottle so hard, often results in more coming out than you would like. I do think this is limited to the 100g bottles, as I have a couple of the Retro shower gels in the 500g size which are fine.
The shower gel itself is pink, and contains glitter. With my bottle the glitter seems to have all settled on one side of the bottle, and no amount of shaking seems to distribute it throughout the gel properly. That said, the amount of glitter seems to be minimal anyway, so I have been using this as an everyday shower gel, rather than one to use before a night out, as I would normally do with something glittery!
The smell of the shower gel is really what sells it. It is absolutely gorgeous! It has a very sweet -almost like vanilla - and has a sugary smell with a little bit of a fruity edge. As well as the Godmother soap, it also reminds me a bit of the Candy Cane bubble bar I recently used. I think this is a very unique scent, and I cannot think of any other product you will find on the high street that smells anything close to this.
Only a small amount of this shower gel is required to get a good lather, although I must admit I do use a shower puff, which helps it lather up better and last longer. When you use it, the creamy scent really comes out, and it really does feel like a treat to use.
After using the shower gel, I find that it not only gets my skin clean and soft (and it isn't drying like some cheaper brands), but leaves it's lovely fragrance on my skin. Unfortunately, the scent is not as strong as the Flying Fox shower gel I have also been using recently, which you can smell on your skin for hours after. This is a little disappointing as I do love the fragrance of this so much, but it is still detectable, if for example, you put your arm to your nose, but I suppose you'd look a little mad if you kept doing that!
Snow Fairy comes in three different sizes:
100g - £2.95
250g - £5.95
Snow Fairy is only available over the Christmas period, so I would recommend stocking up if you like this one, I know I certainly will be!
