      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Fingers crossed that this is released next year too.

Quite a while ago now, I remember reading a great review on the So White bath ballistic from Lush cosmetics. I had browsed online and in their stores with no such luck. I now realise that this is actually a limited edition product, which is released for the Christmas period. I was really happy to see this in the winter sale, so I had to order one and try it out. Lush can only be purchased in their stores or online on their website. This is currently unavailable.

I am unsure as to the retail price of this bath bomb, but I know that it is quite reasonable - around the £2.00. I got mine in the online sale after Christmas so paid under £1.00 for it. I feel that this was a complete bargain, and I am really regretting not ordering more.

Most Lush bath bombs are brightly coloured with fancy designs and hidden treats. So White however is completely plain. As you can see in the image, it is just plain white in colour. I think this might be why I have never opted to buy this in previous Winter's. It is a good sized bath bomb and adequate for those who like a full bath tub like me. Although the bath bomb itself does not look too appealing, I have found it to be one of the nicer limited edition products.

This bath bomb is apple scented. You can smell it quite well before you put it into the water. I found that the bath bomb took quite some time to dissolve fully - much more than previous bath bombs I have used. This does not bother me however. Most people (me included) love Lush for the way it makes the bath look. I have enjoyed many a sparkly pink bath or a nice shade of green in my bath water in the past. This bath bomb doesn't give much colour - in fact the change in the water was minimal. It does product a frothy top layer on your bath and creates a slightly pale pink colour in the water, but that is about it.

For me, it was the apple scent which has sold it. The longer I stayed in the bath, the more the gorgeous scent would fill the room. Apple would not be the first scent I would choose for a bath product, but wow does it work! It smells just like a golden delicious apple, and is almost good enough to eat! It really is a pleasant aroma without being overwhelming. Could not fault that one bit.

I am not entirely sure if it was the frothy layer on the top of the bath that caused this, but I noticed how moisturised my legs were without having to use body lotion. There is definitely an ingredient within this bath bomb which has moisturising properties. I was really impressed with how silky smooth my skin was from just using this.

Overall, I am really impressed with this bath ballistic from Lush. Although it is not crazy and colourful like some of their other ballistics, this is just right. It smells lovely and has great moisturising properties. I have my fingers crossed that they will release it again next year. Thanks for reading and hope this helps.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        Just ok

Although I have tried some Lush products, I had never tried one of their bath bombs up until recently. While in the after Christmas sales, I managed to pick up some in the sale and the first one I used was So White.

Lush describe this product as 'A bath of pure white apple temptation on the outside - a secret colourful heart on the inside.' This is a limited edition product which is only available at Christmas so you either have to get it before or just after when it is in the sales. As I got mine in the sale, I managed to get it for just under £1.

Compared to the other bath bombs that you can get at Lush, this one is pretty plain and quite boring looking. However, I wasn't too bothered about that when buying it as it was so cheap. Being part of the Christmas line of products however, I do think the crisp white colour goes really well and it does remind me of the snow and Christmas in general. The bath bomb is quite large and round. Before even putting this in the bath, you can clearly smell the apples in it while the bath bomb is dry.

In order to use the bath bomb, you need to run a bath and just before getting in, put in the bath bomb. This will then begin to fizz and dissolve in the water, releasing a stronger scent. Not only does the scent get stronger whilst in the bath but the feel of the water changes too. This bath bomb leaves a frothy and foamy layer on top of your bath water while the colour of the water becomes quite dark. Unfortunately, the darkness doesn't look too nice but I guess that doesn't really matter too much.

While the apple scent gets stronger once the bomb is in the bath and dissolving, I was quite disappointed that it didn't last long on my skin after I had got out and dried. I really liked the apple scent and I think this would be a much better product if the scent lasted. However, So White did leave my skin feeling super smooth and hydrated. I was pleasantly surprised with how good my skin felt after my bath.

Due to how this product made my skin feel, I would definitely buy it again but maybe only after Christmas when it is on sale.

        Disadvantages

        This one surprised me!

This 'So White' bath ballistic is one that I purchased in the 50% off sale from Lush just after Christmas. Upon first picking it up and smelling it, I wasn't sure what to think, as the apple scent that it stated it was,was actually not that strong, and as the ballistic itself was quite small, I didn't think it would do much to my bath compared to other Lush ballistics I had used.

However, I decided to buy it and give it a go due to its low price. It was originally £1.90 I think, or around there, and so I got this for just under £1 in the sale. I didn't think I would ever get the chance to get a bath ballistic this cheap from Lush again so I felt I had to while I could!

Lush describe this as: "A pure white bath of apple temptation." As it is part of the Christmas range, the 'white bath' description reminds me of the winter season and I was quite excited to try it out.

So as I do with all bath ballistics, I first ran my bath and got in it, only putting a tiny amount of bubbles in as they don't stick around for long anyway after using a bath ballistic, and I wouldn't want them to overpower the scent of the ballistic. I then placed the ballistic into the bath and watched it fizz away around me. It didn't move about much or even make any noise, but it did seem to fizz away quite quickly, taking around 5 minutes, which is a short time compared to the other larger bath ballistics that I have used from Lush.

The apple scent really stood out to me and gradually got stronger and stronger. I was quite surprised that a little bath ballistic like that could create such a stong scent, especially as it didn't smell that much when I first picked it up in the Lush store. Therefore I won't be judging any bath ballistics on their size again!
As for the 'white bath', it certainly did this. It created lots of soft and silky feeling white foam in my bath, and it made me not care about the lack of bubbles. I really enjoyed it and I was in the bath for well over an hour as I didn't want to get out! The scent stayed strong whilst I was in the bath but unfortunately it didn't linger on my skin when I got out, which is a shame because the apple scent was gorgeous, and not a scent I come across much in bath products. It did however, make my skin feel soft and quite moisturised.

I loved this little bath ballistic and I wish I bought more when I had the chance, as I will now have to wait until next Christmas to buy one again. If you like apple then you will like this, and no bubbles are needed as it makes your bath feel nice and look pretty with the white foam it creates.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Lovely stuff thats kind to my skin!

As much as I love the bones of my Mother (I really seriously do!) we are completely opposite in many different ways and thinking back this has caused many problems, in the past in our relationship. Lush is just another example of our differences lol.

I love the store, I love decent and luxurious products and don't mind occasionally treating myself to something from there simply to make myself feel great. Mum on the other hand won't even go in the shop and has the attitude why pay all that for a bar of soap and that its ludicrous. Don't get me wrong my mother isn't stooge and only uses very fine fragrances and wears the best jewelery money can buy. My step dad drives a Jag and so on but serioulsy...some things she really doesn't approve of and is noisy saying so!

So for Christmas no matter how many hints I drop I never get any treats from Lush from her.......until last year I think I got a bath bomb and I cried most of the morning from shock at her buying it. This year I think my Mum remembered the reaction she got and she went went bought me stacks of stuff which was a proper shocker and left me speechless but completely delighted and surprised with my Mum and she has won a few browny points this year I can tell you that and also requested some Godmother soap for herself from there for next year (as she got me a big block of that too lol)!

Amongst my goodies she bought this 'So White Bath Ballistic'. She has informed me now that she has a friend that works in there (lol like the staff in Lush arnt everybody's best mate but I'm not ever telling her that!) and that he helps her get my goodies and he chose this one.

          The Ballastic:

All you do of course is pop this under running taps and let is fizz away giving away its wonderful scent and plenty of with froth to the water. it is a pure white colour, round and with Lush engraved into the top of it. This one has a gorgeous, clean and unisex scent to it which is of gentle and natural of apples, it doesn't really give any colour to the water and softens it nicely with the scent lingering in the air and on the skin your dunking for the duration of your bodies stay!

After bathing in it my skin was left gloriously soft with no need to moisturise afterwards and my skin was left delicately and still naturally sort of scented with the scent lingering in my Mums home for a while after using it to which even she liked!

This is wonderful product and although its £1.90 for one ballistic (weighing around 90g per ballistic) it does give a sufficient amount for a wonderfully luxurious bath and I really do like this one as its so simple and just good and none singing and dancing!

Only available from Lush stores and from Lush.com

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

A great little treat, without the calories of chocolate!

I bought this bath ballistic because it wasn't an in your face fragrance. It smells predominantly of apples but there are hints of bergamot and rose water in there too. It smelled delicious and I couldn't wait to drop it into a lovely warm bath.

As with all bath ballistics you just drop it into your bath and let it fizz around the tub and dissolve to nothing. This bomb doesn't have glitter or paper bits in like some of the others. It isn't brightly coloured and garish, it's plain white and when you leave it to fizz it gives off a little bit of foam. This means your bathwater is left milky white with faint traces of foam and delicately fragranced with apple.

I really liked this for a no nonense relax in the bath on a Monday night. I didn't want sparkles etc and so this was perfect. It's one of the small bath ballistics that Lush has and so it only weighs 90g and costs £1.90. This does seem like an expensive bath, but you know what, sometimes it's just worth treating yourself and I loved the smell of my bath!

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

3 out of 5 stars, bigger and better value next year please Lush!

I'm a big fan of Lush, and particularly enjoy their seasonal products. They usually have very good choice of products at Christmas, and there's usually something for everyone. This year I decided to purchase some 'So White' ballistics. These ballistics cost £1.80 for 90g, but prices do vary from year to year. For £1.80 this does seem like a quite an expensive bath product in general, but for Lush it's a reasonably priced ballistic.

So White is white (of course!), and sphere shaped. Some people may be familiar with big chunky bath ballistics which totally fill your hand when held, So White is one of the 'compact' ballistics, which is much smaller. It costs less than the larger ballistics, but I personally don't think it gives you better value or a better bath in smaller sizes.

To use a ballistic you simply drop it into a pre-run bath. It will then fizz and float around dissolving as it does, and releasing it's scent and colour into your bath. So White has a distinct apple scent, and as a fruit lover I love it! As the ballistic fizzed through the bath I found that the scent was wafted around my bathroom a little, and made it smell gorgeous, this did fade over time though and after about 15 minutes I could no longer smell the apple scent very well.

So White is also a slightly different ballistic in that it creates a small amount of foam while it fizzes, which makes it far more interesting that other ballistics which I usually find quite boring after they have fizzed. The foam did melt away over time, but it was nice to have something other than just coloured water when using a ballistic. As So White is white it doesn't give the bath water a distinctive colour, but instead turns is a very slightly cloudy/milky colour.

So White comes as a 'naked' product, which means it has no packaging. You will need to store it somewhere air tight and dry to prevent losing smell. I sugest wrapping it in cling film.
After using a So White I find that my skin is very soft and moisturised, to the point where I don't actually need to use a body moisturiser afterwards unless I want to, which is a big bonus. The scent has never really lingered for me, which is a little disappointing, but I don't usually expect it from smaller ballistics.

Overall, I really like So White, but would definitely advise using the whole ballistic in the bath as any less and you really wouldn't be able to notice the effect very well. I'm going to give it 3 stars, as although it smells gorgeous I don't think it's particularly good value for money when it's so small.

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

What do you mean there's no apples in it!!!!!

Another of my winter warmers was the So white ballistic which I loved the sound of as it contains the scent of apples. It cost £1.80 for 90g.
            Lush say......

"So White was one of our first bubbling ballistics created by Jack. This tempting, white, apple-scented ballistic has grated Bubble Bar to create a frothy carpet of white snow on the water as it fizzes down slowly."

It contains bergamot and neroli oil although I noticed on the website that it doesn't contain an apple oil as this doesn't exist so I assume the scent was created with the rose and orange flower absolute.

When I opened the bag I was hit by a very realistic apple smell which I found beautiful although it did seem to be a bit strong. When I left it in the bathroom the scent filled it within minutes. As you can tell by the name it is completely white so I did wonder how it would be in the bath.

So dropping it into the bath it immediately started frothing ad spinning and also started creating a large amount of bubbles which I found great although they didn't last that long once I was in I didn't really mind although I did assume that as it has bubble bar in it it would have lasted for the entirety of my bath as bubble bars tend to. I was pleased to notice though that it all dissolved quickly.

As it was white it didn't really change the colour of the water just made it slightly cloudy.
The smell was a lot more muted while I was I the bath which I found pleasant enough as being pregnant I am tending to get more headaches.

Once I got out I did notice that my skin was softer and smoother (I didn't need to use my normal cream after)and smelt great, the scent lasted for a while on my skin and was pleasant enough, I did notice that it didn't really last in my bathroom or on my towels as others have.

I would buy this product again as it smells beautiful and very realistic, although I would love to know how!! The bubbles lasted a fair amount of time and I did feel very relaxed afterwards. For the price it is in the mid range of price and it is only available for Christmas although I think they would be able to sell it all year with ease.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              I like it

Lush So White reminds me immediately of a snow ball and alongside Christmas I love snow. This ballistic will cost you £1.80 for 90g which means it is sadly only going to last you one bath because it is one of the smaller products in the ballistic range.

This ballistic has an apple scent to it probably to make up the So White SNow White link I guess. YOu run your bath and drop this ballistic in. As it hits the water the fragrance is released its not overpowering put its there all the same. The ballistic also has a different effect on the water to other ballistics I have tried it turns the water a creamy colour but also leaves a light white foam on the top of the water as well like fallen snow its a lovely effect I think very Winter Wonderland in my opinion. Once in the bath the water feels really soft and moisutrising which is great. The apple smell does not last all that long but for me I didn't mind because apple isn't one of my favourite scents when it is strong and this one was just right. Once out of the bath my skin feels soft and moisturised which is wonderful.

I give 4 stars for this ballistic.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

              An average seasonal treat

I love Lush's bubble bars and their bath items are my favourite treats. The bath bombs are good fun as well and I buy these from time to time as the fancy takes me. I had a couple of these in my festive goody bags from last year. The So White ballistic bath bomb is available from Lush during the Christmas period and costs £1.75 for 100g. I got mine during Christmas 2009 / January sales 2010 and they are limited edition so you cannot buy them in the shops right now.

So White is a very plain and boring looking bath bomb, with a pure white colour and a simple spherical shape. It has a soft scent when it's dry before you put it in the bath, which then becomes more noticeable as it's dissolved in the water. The scent is fruity and has a strong note of apples as well as a slight hint of a musky undertone.

To use, you simply put it into a hot bath and let it dissolve into the water. This was the first attempt from Lush at the foaming bath bomb, which creates a different effect than their usual fizz. The bath bomb foams away gently leaving a frothy layer of foam over the top of the bath, and the water underneath turns cloudy and murky. There are four newly released bath bombs from the Summer 2010 range that have used this effect; Fizzbanger, Mrs Whippy, Twilight, and Dragon's Egg.

Although the foamy layer looked quite nice and managed to hide most of the cloudyness, the bath still looked a bit un-inviting. I had a good long soak in the water and it was fabulously moisturizing, especially on my legs. I was surprised as I did not feel any oilyness in the water but it really worked to hydrate my skin and I felt lovely and smooth afterwards. I didn't even need to put on body lotion like usual, and the effects lasted for a long time.

This was a bit of an average bath, as the scent faded away and didn't last on my skin. I also didn't experience any effects of the aromatherapy oils. The best thing about it was the conditioning effect that it had on my skin, it felt a lot smoother afterwards and was a nice treat in this respect. I would have to say that I prefer the luxurious experience of using a Butterball ballistic more than the So White, as it has the same moisturizing benefits, but the smell is more pleasant and you can buy it all year round. Although, I wouldn't be too disappointed if I ended up with one of these in this year's Christmas stocking!

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                not bad

This little fellow was produced in the run up to Christmas, a sort of take on Snow White, with the name 'So White.' So what makes it so festive? Well for starters it looks like a snowball and the scent of the thing is orangey which I guess is close enough to satsumas.

The bath ballistics always present a problem to me, in that they are over in a jiffy. Your hard earned money down the plughole for the sake of a quick bath. That is why if you're going to buy a bath bomb, you need to have an extra long bath to get your moneys worth. This one is priced at £1.75, making it slightly cheaper than the other bath bombs. This is probably because it has fewer ingredients and also no fancy shape to it.

When you first sniff it you will be greeted with a flowery essence which will stimulate the nose. The orange pushes through with an understated zest and just about commands the attention. When you pop it into the bath it will take a few minutes to fizzle down into nothing, leaving you sitting in a bath of white fuzz. It might tingle the skin to begin with then gently settle. My experience was that it gave the bathroom a fruity aroma, before subsiding after half an hour or so.

It did leave the skin smelling zesty, but based on looks it just isn't the most endearing bath bomb. I would say this is a bomb to be used when you want a perk me up, maybe late at night or when you have had a rough day. They should have coloured it orange really and then it would have signified the scent better, that aside, a middling bath bomb.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

One of the best bath bombs

This is one of my favourites and i'm a huge Lush fan.

Firstly I bought one for £1.75 for a 100g bath ballistic. If your new to the word of Lush, a ballastic is a round ball shape that you drop into your full bath. it fizzes away releasing essential oils, nourishing ingredients and often a suprise too (eg. Blackberry Bomb reveals a piece of paper with the word 'bang', some shoot out rose buds etc). They dissolve in the bath leaving you feeling fully pampered and relaxed.

This ballastic is small in size but does the job just as well. When dropped in the bath it immediately filled the room with a refreshing apple scent. As the bath ballastic fizzed away it spread a milky foamy trail throughout the bath which looked like a covering of snow (perfect as this ballastic is limited edition and onl available during the xmas period!). My skin felt so refreshed and silky soft. It contains Bergamot oil which enfances your mood and lifts your spirit and the rose absolute helps to leave your skin kissably soft.

I felt that this ballastic did a really good job considering it's small size and good price. I was gutted it was limited edition so bought 10 during the xmas sale (spend £20 in store and get any free xmas gift, product from a selection of £20 grab bag). I leave these in my underwear draw so every time I get changed in the morning the beautiful apple scent makes me smile and go to work feeling more happy than I usually would be.

I find these bath bombs when stored away from water or too much heat last up to 1 year but as this is so delicious I'm afraid i'll use all of them much sooner than that!

                  Disadvantages

I won't be bothering with these again

Firstly, sorry about the title.... its just how I feel!!

                  *About the Ballistic*
Lush's So White Bath Ballistic is part of the Christmas range and so is no longer available to buy, but I am sure it will be back around in 10 months or so time. It is one of the smaller from the ballistics range and cost £1.75 this season just gone.

The beauty of this ballistic is that not only does it fizz around the bath, it also creates bubbles, which is what ballistics lack in my bath. I love bubbles.

This white ballistic has a strong apple scent, which further releases once the bomb is in the hot bath water.

We water turns a very pale milky white, almost clear colour and the fizzing lasts for a few minutes after impact and whizzes around the tub nicely.

                  *My Thoughts*
I was a little disappointed with the bubbles, as there were not huge amounts. I was expecting more in honestly. That sais, it was an enjoyable nicely scented bath and I threw a bit of Happy Hippy Shower Gel to create bubbles. This was a good combination and made the bath more enjoyable.

I did feel cleansed after this bath and smelt nice for a couple of hours, but really its nothing special.
I am a bit let down by this product. I expected it to be an amazing invention by Lush - but no!!

                  Disadvantages

A scented bath - but there are plenty of better options

It's no secret that I'm a Lush addict, I love most Lush products and they very rarely do anything wrong in my eyes. However, for the purpose of reviewing I do try to approach each product afresh, and past glories an not be taken into account!

The So White bath ballistic was part of Lush's 'Christmas Present' gift box this year, which I was lucky enough to receive two of. (It was also available on it's own, at £1.75.) The name immediately appealed to me, suggesting fairy tales and pantomimes, and reminding me a little of one of my favourites - Ruby Slippers. So White could not look more different from Ruby Slippers though, being snowy white and without a hint of ostentatious glitter. It has an apple scent, inspired apparently by the apple gifted to Snow White by her marvellously evil step mother (Disney's highest point, in my opinion...). I also felt that the ballistic had a slight scent of marzipan, but that could have been due to having being stored with other Lush Christmas products.

So White promises 'a frothy blanket of apple scented snow', so I was expecting a subtle bath, no 'bits' or glitter but a little bubble, froth at least. Sadly, once in the bath the ballistic was altogether too subtle. It smelt great, and softened the water, but exhibited almost none of the ballistic's trademark fizzing. Instead it bobbed sadly about, trailing a tiny creamy stream but definitely no 'frothy blanket'! It seemed to take ages to dissolve, and by the time it did I was getting bored and ready to get out.

For me, this was a disappointing bath by Lush's (very high) standards. As I have said before, Lush's sense of fun and glamour is one of the attractions of their brand, and when paying so much for one bath, I expect it to be a special one. For me, this means plenty of fizz and ideally some 'bits' and glitter too, but I do think that even those preferring a more simple bath might regret their choice of So White.

Update - item now discontinued by Lush.

                    Makes a nice change

I received a So White ballistic in my Lush goodie bag the other day (actually I got two, so I was hoping to like them!). Normally they cost £1.75 which is quite reasonable for a bath ballistic, however this product is a seasonal one brought out for Christmas so is no longer available. It may be out again for Christmas 2010 however. Having said that, although this product is a festive one it is not so festive that you feel daft using it in January. It is inspired by the fairy tale of Snow White, making it particularly appropriate for use in this current wintery weather.

The product contains rose absolute and bergamot for relaxing and skin moisturising properties. The ballistic has a very unassuming shape and appearance. At first I thought it was a Butterball, however the smell of fresh apples proved me wrong.

When I decided to use the ballistic, I dropped it into the bath once it had been run, the same way as I do all ballistics. Instead of fizzing loudly and disappearing like many similar products, it actually dissolved quite slowly - I was sitting in the bath for a good while before it had dissolved fully. This is not a negative comment, more of an observation, and in fact it was quite relaxing.

The smell of apples was clearly discernible and was very pleasant. Apples are not my favourite fruit or scent, but it made a nice change: as far as I know there aren't any other Lush products with this scent so it was quite unusual. The ballistic left a layer of white foam over the top of the bath, which made me think I was lying in a bath of (albeit rather warm) snow! Again, an unusual effect and one I have not seen in any bath bomb, not even a Lush one. This is a bath product for minimalist people - the sort who have white bathrooms, living rooms, walls, furniture... it lacks the brightness and colour of a lot of Lush products but that isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on what you are looking for.

When I got out of the bath my skin felt soft, although not as soft as when I use Butterball: however it isn't meant to have the same effect as Butterball so I can't really complain.

I really enjoyed my experience of using this product and I'm looking forward to using my other So White ballistic. It isn't my favourite Lush product but it made a nice change, and I think it would appeal to anyone who loves the smell of apples and would like a calming, minimalistic bath.

                    Lush So White Ballistic

Description: Brand: Lush / Type: Bath Salt.

                    http://www.lush.co.uk

I love Lush and tend to shop there quite a lot. They make hand made cosmetic products from totally natural ingredients and never test on animals. Find out more by having a look at their website, where you can also find your nearest store and order online (goods usually arrive within 3 or 4 days and are packed in popcorn instead of polystyrene which is kinder to the environment).

Bath ballistics (often called bath bombs) are great, you simply drop them into a warm bath and they go mental! They fizz their way round releasing a delicious scent that fills the room and makes the water lovely and soft.

This one costs £1.75 for a 100g ballistic which is actually a little cheaper than some. It doesn't look like much because it is plain white and quite boring in appearance but they are actually much better than they look.

They have a delicious apple scent which lasts for ages and makes the whole room smell delicious. It isn't overpowering but has a lovely fresh smell that stays on your skin for ages after you get out of the bath.

I really like this one, it is lovely and a real shame that it is only around for a while (it is a seasonal one) so I will have to stock up while I can. If you haven't tried this one then you should pop along and give it a try, relax in a nice bath, light a candle and pour yourself a glass of wine, then just chill out!
