Lush is a beauty company which offers fresh cosmetics. They have strong ethical values with regards to not testing on animals and reducing the amount of packaging to the bare minimum. Lush offers a huge selection of products from shower gels, bath ballistics (bombs) and even perfume and face masks.

*~*Ballistic Bonanza!!!*~*

A bath ballistic is a Lush version of a bath bomb. A bath bomb is a powdered product made up of sodium bicarbonate amongst other ingredients. Once popped into a bath of hot water, the bath ballistic is designed to fizz around and dissolve leaving the water scented, coloured and perhaps soft! Lush offer lots of different bath ballistics which are in different shapes, sizes and offer different scents and colours. There are currently limited edition flower shaped ones for Mothers Day but regular ballistics including names such as Vanilla Fountain and Mrs Whippy!

*~*I'm A Space Girl!*~*

This particular ballistic is apparently inspired by a song called Space Girl which was sung by The Imagined Village (never heard of them to be honest!).This ballistic is designed to resemble Saturn in appearance and smell like blackcurrant sweets due to the inclusion of fizzy candy within the ingredients.

Simply loose in the shop, you can take this ballistic home in a yellow lush paper bag. The ballistic is made up of two parts which are moulded together. A large ball part sits in the middle with a raised ring around it giving the planet appearance! The whole ballistic is lilac with a silver and red glitter surface.

*~*My Space Girl Experience*~*

I am quickly becoming a huge fan of Lush. I suppose its a good idea that my local Lush is in Glasgow as it costs me nearly £5 to get there and back on the train! When I do go to Glasgow though, I like to make a detour to that delightful but overpowering smelling shop! The choice is endless and it is so tempting to buy everything but of course, ethical products come at price that my bank balance doesn't allow on a regular basis!

On entering Lush, there is a large display right in front of me..this is the bath ballistic display and there is lots of scents and designs to choose from. I think its fab that Lush have some ballistics in buckets and water to allow you to test some out. Our recent visit allowed my niece to test out a ballistic which was half bubble bar too which meant there were bubbles as it floated around..it had a gorgeous gold glitter centre and I forgot to ask the name of it but it looked and smelled gorgeous!

I have used a few different ballistics in the past and have had mixed results. I usually choose depending on how things smell. I have always love bath bombs despite the fact they don't generally produce bubbles. If I was using a plain bath bomb, I would add some bubble bath for extra effect. With a Lush ballistic though, it would waste the effect so I use them on their own.

*~*Why Did I Choose Space Girl?*~*

On checking out the competition the other day, there were so many delicious options. My sister offered to treat me and not wanting to push my luck, I went for one of the cheaper ballistics. I was so tempted by Vanilla Fountain but it was highly priced so I went with Space Girl which is one of the smaller and cheaper options. The lilac outer and unusual shape also tempted me and a quick sniff and it was mine!

*~*3 2 1 Launch!!!*~*

I mainly have showers but I do have the occasional bath and bubbles or bath bombs are essential for me! For the past week, I have been unwell and felt really down in the dumps so last night, out came my Space Girl ballistic. Until this time, it had remained in its wrapper gentle allowing me to indulge in its scent every time I entered my tiny little bathroom!

Once my bath was half full with hot water, it was time for launch. The ballistic was a good size and heavier than expected. It felt powdery to the touch but didn't get my hands in a mess as I transferred it from bag to bath. The initial scent proved appealing with hints of sweetness infused with a strong and quite sour blackcurrant. Dropping this in my bath left me feeling a bit under enthusiastic! It started to fizzle but instead of shooting around my bath like a rocket, it stayed around the one area.

After a minute, the ballistic became more active and started exploring the water. It fizzled fast and as it did, a stream of lilac colour began to seep around my bath. The colour was quite intense to start with but as it spread around the water, it changed to a pale and pretty lilac. I am glad that I stood and watched this ballistic dissolving as it was an amazing experience.

The ballistic is glittery on the outside but not enough to be too in your face. I was completely taken aback a minute after this ballistic met the water. I witnessed a stunning firework like display or perhaps, I should say shooting stars or comet display in my bathroom! As the beautiful aroma seeped around my bathroom, it resembled a blend of fruit, sweetness and Parma Violets..very unusual but completely desirable and I loved it!

Oh yes the shooting stars were a bit surprise and a true treat to watch. The glitter was apparent through the ballistic and made itself obvious half way through it dissolving. A beautiful array of red, pink and blue shooting star like streaks shot out from the fizzing mayhem producing a very cool look in my bath! The streaks were glittery and highly coloured and amazed me whilst concerning me that my bath was going to be dyed multi colours!

As I jumped into my bath 5minutes later, the colours had disappeared and all that remained was a pale, lilac mass of water. The beautiful sweet aroma had travelled around the flat as I left the bathroom door open and filled it with a generous and apparent aroma. To be honest, it didn't feel right jumping in with no bubbles..no not one so I think I'd like to try the one that was part bubble bath! The water didn't impress me. With most bubble baths or ballistics, the water feels soft and smooth like I am wrapping my body in a velvety touch! Using Space Girl results in no change to my water except the colour!

I was highly dissappointed by this aspect. I stayed in the bath for around 15mins as the scent by this time had diminished and I got washed with my other shower gels. I kept sniffing my skin whilst in the shower trying to catch some sort of a scent from it but there was nothing. If I hadn't used a proper moisturising shower gel or body wash, my skin would have needed a good rub down with lotion or butter post bath.

*~*Recommendation and Conclusion*~*

This is a cool designed ballistic which smells divine and does a good job of putting on a highly impressive show in my bath. Unfortuantely this is where the good points end as I was expecting a soft water to engulf me but it made no difference with using this in my bath. It launches well but returned to Earth with a big, disappointing bang! I personally wouldn't have paid any more than £1.90 as this is designed for one bath and I don't consider it to be worth even this price.

I won't buy this again but if you choose to, don't expect too much and make sure you watch it dissolving or else you will be really annoyed!

Thanks for reading x
