      Disadvantages

      A beautifully scented massage bar

Having a few minutes to myself is a rarity let alone a full day so it is important to take full advantage! On these rare days with no child and no other half I do tend to indulge myself slightly whether a nice bottle of wine or a nice relaxing soak where I can take full advantage of my Lush collection! Lush is a company I have been buying from for a number of years and one product I use (but not often enough!) is their massage bars, they are only used when I can do them justice!

Massage Bars from Lush are a wonderful invention, solid blocks of a body cream/lotion which can either be used between you and your partner or just by yourself as part of your moisturising routine. My indulgence days always include a massage bar as I find it a novel yet relaxing way of applying a moisturising lotion. My current massage bar is the Strawberry Feels Forever bar which has been discontinued unfortunately.

      == The Bar ==

Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar was bought out by Lush over 4 years ago initially as a limited edition product but managed to hang on until it was finally sent packing although I suspect it will return as a retro item in the not too distant future.

The massage bar itself is shaped like a big pale pink strawberry which looks quite cute especially compared to other massage bars Lush have currently. It has been made out of cocoa and shea butters which are of course known for their high moisturising properties together with coconut oil. For the scent fresh strawberries and bergamot have been added. The fragrance was made to resemble strawberries and cream.

      == In Use ==

Now massage bars are meant to be used in pairs but I use it purely by myself as I do find it a bit more indulgent and I don't like sharing my Lush! The massage bars are simply designed to be a more relaxing way of applying a body lotion to your skin as well as being full of nourishing ingredients designed to moisturise and look after your skin.

Now because of being made from cocoa and shea butters the Strawberry bar does melt quite quickly as soon as it makes contact with the skin and warmth. I love the smell of this massage bar it is sweet but not sickly sweet which is nice and it does have a more 'real' fragrance rather than a synthetic sweet aroma which some products can have but then I guess that's because they use fresh strawberries.

I find that the massage bar is quite easy to hold despite its size, it isn't the biggest massage bar that Lush does but I don't find it hard to hold and rub it along my skin. I simply hold the massage bar and rub it along my skin several times and then just quickly rub it in properly so that it is easily absorbed. I find that my massage bar heats up nicely but it doesn't soften up too much where it slips out of your hand.

I really do like the result it gives as apart from making my skin feel soft and moisturised it doesn't leave a horrible residue behind which is nice as it is fully absorbed. It doesn't take long to be absorbed so you are not waiting around forever! Now, I do find that if you are rushed for time that a massage bar can be quite inconvenient but when you have plenty of time on your hands then they are incredibly relaxing and with the Strawberry bar you get the relaxing feeling teamed with a gorgeously creamy strawberry type fragrance. Simply beautiful!

      == Overall ==

I have used my massage bar several times now and it still has plenty of uses left in it which is great. You do have to be careful where you store it though as anywhere warm and it can melt! I find that my skin is left lovely and moisturised for hours after using this massage bar. I really can't find any fault with this massage bar unless you class it being discontinued a fault! If you can get hold of one these strawberrylicious bars then do so as you won't be disappointed!

        A really nice product

For Christmas last year my friend bought me a strawberry feels forever solid massage bar from lush as she knows I love lush items. This massage bar was actually the first I had tried from lush as I had never been entirely sure how much use I would get from one but I was very pleased with my gift. Having looked online it would seem the product has been discontinued in the UK but not in the USA so I am not really sure why it has been discontinued over here but it may make an appearance in the retro section as a lot of people seem to like this product.

The massage bar is cleverly named to make you think of the song strawberry fields forever but it is also made in the shape of a strawberry which I think obviously indicates that it will have a strawberry scent. The bar is made using strawberries, hibiscus flowers and coconut oil and so I do think it has an almost summery smell to it and one which evokes memories of warm days. Strawberry feels forever is a pale pink in colour as opposed to a bright red strawberry colour which I think represents the creaminess of the product and makes it look more appealing to the eye. What I think is very sweet with this product is that you can actually see small flecks of strawberry in the massage bar which just makes it seem more authentic and natural to me.

Now as I said I have never used a massage bar before and did wonder how I was meant to really use it but the idea is that you can either warm the bar on your hands and then rub it in to your skin or you can rub the bar directly on to your skin after a bath or shower and then massage it in from there. When I tried to get some of the product on my hands and do it that way I found it too time consuming really and so found that after a bath when my skin was still warm from the water it was very easy to glide the massage bar along my skin and then massage it in as I went along. The strawberry shape to the massage bar made it ideal for me to hold in my hand as I went along as well making it very easy to use.

As the bar glides along my skin it leaves quite a layer of the bar but this is easily rubbed in to my skin and my skin just feels so soft afterwards and this feeling will stick around all night. The scent that stays on my skin is just delicious and it reminds me of real strawberry with cream and I actually find myself sitting there and just sniffing my skin for a little while after I have used this product! My only issue with this product is I would much rather have a big strong man in my life who could massage it in for me as I feel it would be a perfect product to use for a relaxing night in with your partner.

My massage bar lasted me six months of regular use and would have lasted longer had I not popped it on the radiator to warm it slightly and then become distracted and ended up melting it! The plus side was my bedroom smelled divine for a while afterwards but I was gutted I could no longer use it! I stored mine in some tissue paper in my wardrobe but I know you can buy tins for massage bars but whether this one would fit in one I don't know.

I do really hope lush introduce this product to their retro line as I would love to buy it again and would certainly recommend it!

Thank you for reading my review!

One of my favourite massage bars

I love Lush and take great pleasure in treating myself to their yummy bath and body products. Lush's massage bars are actually one of my surprise favourites, as they are a lot more practical than I had first imagined. I have a whole collection of them and they last for ages which makes them good value for money. I have had several of these Strawberry Feels Forever bars and they are one of the best that I've tried so far. You can purchase this massage bar from Lush high street retail outlets, via mail order or online at www.lush.co.uk. It costs RRP £5.35 for a 75g massage bar, and if you buy two or more massage bars then you also receive a free massage bar tin, RRP £2.95.

Product description: "Our fruity Massage Bar is made with crushed strawberries and an infusion of hibiscus flowers. It's scented with a delicious fruit-sundae-with-cream-on-top aroma that will make you think of summertime. Celebrate the strawberry feels forever."

If you've ever walked down a high street with a Lush store on it then you know that you can smell them as you are approaching from a far off distance! Lush are well known for their yummy smelling goodies and this one is truly gorgeous. It has a sweet and fruity strawberry fragrance with a light feel to it that is mouth-wateringly delicious. This would go down great with anyone that loved foody fragrances. The scent is immediately noticeable when using the bar for massage and the scent lasts on skin for a while afterwards. Strawberry Feels Forever also has a cute appearance and is shaped to look like a strawberry. The bar has a pretty pink colour to it rather than a bright berry red. I have never experienced any colour transfer or staining to my skin when using this so please don't worry about turning pink as you rub this over your skin - it won't happen!

The idea of massage bars is to act as a solid packaging-free product that is heat responsive and melts down to form a gorgeous light lotion to massage with. You can use these in the place of ordinary massage oils for a Lush massage experience! To prepare, you simply hold the massage bar between your hands and rub gently to allow the heat of your skin to warm the bar. The bar will then start to melt a little and give your hands a lovely smooth coating of oils to be used for the massage. If the bar feels hard to begin with and you are having trouble melting it with your hands, I sometimes find it helps to place the bar inside a Lush massage bar tin and place this on a radiator for a couple of minutes to help speed up the process. Of course the tin will heat up too so be careful and don't burn yourself! Alternatively if you prefer to go for a hot oil massage, you can cut off a small block of the massage bar and heat it in a microwave-able tub for a few seconds to heat the bar into a hot oil form - one of my friends absolutely swears by this method.

I find that this particular massage bar is very responsive to body heat and will melt quickly and easily. When the massage bar is cold it has a solid feel with a smooth creamy texture. When you warm it up it retains this lovely thick creamy feel and creates a lovely lotion effect that is easy to spread over the skin. It is rich and heavier than some of the other massage bars but it does not leave behind any sticky or greasy feeling.

Now you can get ready to give (or receive) your massage! Strawberry Feels Forever has a smooth creamy feel that allows you to give smooth and steady flowing movements without breaking the continuation of touch, or grinding to a halt by drying out. Although it spreads easily and gives a good coverage I do find that I need to use more of this massage bar compared to others, as it can dry out a little as it is absorbed readily by the skin. While the massage is in progress the massage bar stays warm and retains heat transferred through the hands. This helps to keep the massage bar in a fluid form which makes it easier to work with. Because it has a light feeling you can use this on all areas of the body, including back, neck, chest, and it has fantastic moisturising properties. I like to use this massage bar by heating it up in my hands to give them a good coating, and then applying my hands to the masage area so that the bar has metled and warmed to give a comfortable feeling. If you prefer you can spread the massage bar directly onto the skin, but this would not be appropriate for delicate or hair-covered areas so it is best to apply to the hands first.

The feeling left on the skin afterwards is very soothing and this is relaxing to be massaged with. It absorbs into the skin very quickly which makes it practical to use if you do not have much spare time and want a quick massage, or to use before getting dressed without having to worry about it soaking in fully and leaving marks. Afterwards my skin feels comforted, thanks to the lovely combination of natural ingredients. In combination with the effects of massage, this massage bar leaves my skin feeling firmer, nourished, and moisturised. I am left with lovely soft smooth skin for the entire following day. The massage bar has a cocoa butter base which helps to condition the skin and is the base for many moisturising products.

As well as using this as a massage bar, you can also use the bar as a solid body lotion. To do this, simply rub the massage bar directly onto your skin and rub the residue in with your fingertips. Once again, this absorbs more quickly than the other massage bars so it's great if you haven'ty got much time but still want something that will give a deep conditioning moisture treatment for very dry areas of skin. Used in this fashion a little goes a long way and you can get a lot of uses out of this massage bar.

As my massage bars near their end I find they become harder to work with as they often break up into small fragments when rubbing to heat up. In this case I often save the small broken chunks and use them in a hot bath in place of a bath melt, as they produce a luxurious moisturising oil which is great for the skin and leaves you smelling gorgeous.

I love these massage bars and this one is a nice treat that I have bought time and time again as I really love using it and it gives great results. I think the scent would be best suited to use for women as it has quite a feminine fragrance, but as a masage product it would work well on all skin types. This is a superb product that I'm glad to have in my collection. 100% recommended, if you haven't tried massage bars before then this would be a great place to start.

This is a vegan product and Lush are against animal testing - please keep your beauty cruelty free!

            Advantages

            Disadvantages

A hydrating massage bar, made with crushed strawberries, which will leave the skin feeling softer.

Lush is a company that creates beauty products for the face, body and hair and they are made using natural ingredients. Their products also smell delicious and come in eye catching colours and designs.

A product that you may not find in many beauty shops is the Massage Bars and I am slowly becoming addicted to them. They offer you a more fun and entertaining way to hydrate the skin. The product doubles up as a massage oil and a luxurious moisturiser.

What makes this product stand out from the crowd, is that the bar starts to melt into an oil when it reaches body temperature. As the bar is rubbed across the skin, it leaves a trail of oil across the body which can be massaged into the skin leaving it softer than before.

Strawberry Feels Forever is the newest addition to my growing collection and is perfect for the approaching summer time. This Massage Bar comes in a pretty pink colour and is shaped to look like a strawberry.

The nicest thing about this bar is that is actually contains crushed strawberries and it smells sweet with a hint of creaminess. It costs around £5 for 75 grams of the product and it can be bought from your local Lush store or from its online website.

            How does it work?
The magic behind this product lies in the Cocoa butter as it is this substance which begins to melt at body temperature, allowing it to work. The butter has been used by people across the world for centuries because of its highly moisturising properties that hydrate even the driest of skins, leaving it silky smooth and nourished,

Another butter included in the product is Fair Trade Shea Butter and it has similar beneficial properties to the Cocoa Butter. As well as moisturising the skin, this butter encourages the development of new skin cells and increases your blood circulation, making your skin look younger and reducing the appearance of cellulite. It is also enriched with Vitamins A and E, which have numerous benefits for the skin.

It is obvious due to the name of the product and its shape that it contains strawberries. Their purpose is to calm, tone and condition the skin. They can also help to deal with acne but I wouldn't advise using this one on the face because it is heavily oil based.

The Coconut Oil which is drizzled in to the formula is another substance which will help to hydrate your thirsty, dry skin and work towards delaying signs of aging. The Coconut Oil also helps to heal and repair damaged skin.

The Massage Bar is infused with Hibiscus which contains antioxidants that remove free radicals from the skin. Otherwise known as the Botox Plant, it tones and smoothes the skin, leaving it feeling firmer and looking more youthful. It also helps to eliminate toxins and to stimulate the circulation of the blood.

Geranium Oil is also there to soothe and hydrate the skin and to boost the circulation. The oil can help to balance the production of sebum, which prevents your skin becoming too greasy or too dry. Also included is Bergamot Oil which has aromatherapy benefits that leave you feeling cheerful and happy. It also soothes the skin and helps to relieve tension.

How do you use the product? The bar is to be used on clean, dry skin. After holding the bar in your hands for a few moments, it will begin melting and it can be smoothed over the skin. Once there is a layer of the product on your body, you massage the product into the skin using circular motions. Once the oil has been fully absorbed into my skin, you are good to go and your skin should be left feeling soft and smooth.

The product is heavily oil based, so you must make sure that it has been completely absorbed before you dress or go near anything made of fabric because it will stain. As the product melts at body temperature, if you leave it near anything warm, it will start to melt so store it in a cool, dark place. Lush sell little tins that are perfect from storing their massage bars and they cost around £5.

This is one of the least messy Massage Bars so it is perfect for beginners. If you don't like sweet smells then you should stay away from this one because it smells like those old pink bon bon sweets to me! It leaves your skin silky smooth and nourished, without a feeling of greasiness resting on the skin. A great product.

              Advantages

              Disadvantages

If it was a couple of pounds cheaper I would buy again!

This is my second product that I tried out from my Berry Box from Lush. The Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar is priced at £5.35 for a 75g bar and is vegan friendly.

This massage bar looks like a giant half a strawberry with a flat back to it. It is pale pink in colour with darker pink flecks of colour in. It's rather large and is about the size of the palm of my hand, any bigger and I think it would be quite awkward to use. So any people with little hands (like my mum) might find it hard too. Storing the actual bar is a bit of a pain as it doesn't fit into the Lush massage bar tins and you aren't supposed to leave it in the paper it comes wrapped in as this can apparently soak up the oils sometimes. I was a little worried as the bar works by melting when it comes into contact with heat so leaving it in a steamy bathroom I expected to find a container of oil (I store mine in a tupperware box in the bathroom cupboard) and it is fine.

Lush states that they can double as a massage oil or an after shower/bath body moisturizer. I use mine usually after a shower on my legs but I have used it for a massage too. You simply glide the bar over the skin and it melts upon contact, so try not to hold it in a hot hand for too long! I found at first it does feel a little greasy and doesn't sink in as quickly as I'd hoped for but for a pampering session it would be perfect, and if your strapped for time then you can always dab off the excess. My skin after using smelt of strawberries (which I had kind of hoped for) and also a kind of musky floral scent which I believe could be the hibiscus flower scent they use. I was a little dubious that it would smell really artificial but it does smell just like fresh strawberries and the scent lingers for a good couple of hours.

For a massage this is excellent as it is a lot less greasy than some massage oils and less fiddly too! Plus there isn't any wastage which I sometimes find. This bar really is very moisturizing as it is made from quite rich ingredients and contains shea butter and cocoa butter. If you don't like strawberry scented things then I probably wouldn't go for this at all. As much as I love this I'm not convinced I would spend the £5.35 on buying another bar as I think you can buy something equally as good that does the same job for a lot less. Don't get me wrong it was great to try and a nice treat but a little too pricey for the product as after using it for a couple of times (admittedly one was a massage) it ran out rather quickly.

Lush please lower the price and I will be a fan for life!

                Advantages

                Disadvantages

                -

Strawberry Feels Forever is another of Lush's massage bars. I fell in love instantly with the name being a lover of New York City and the Strawberry Fields area of Central Park (NYC's tribute to John Lennon).

Shaped like a strawberry, the massage bar is bright pink with little circles dotted over it to give the overall effect of the strawberry. The massage bar costs £4.95 which weighs 75g. It fits nicely in the palm of your hand, making it easy to control whilst using it.

If you are a regular Lush user, you will recognise the scent of Strawberry Feels as that of Yummy, Yummy, Yummy. It is a strawberries and cream type scent and I love it. It is quite sweet but yet fruity. Lush uses actual crushed strawberries in the ingredients which makes for a really nice authentic scent. I don't think Strawberry Feels smells fake at all. It makes me think of summertime. It is a really nice and refreshing scent.

The massage bar melts down very easily and doesn't feel as greasy as some of the massage bars available at Lush. I found that my skin absorbed it quickly and easily. It did feel really creamy as I massaged it into my skin. Try not to hold the massage bar in your hands too long though as it will melt really quickly and you will be left wondering where it went! It is highly moisturising and it left my skin feeling lovely and smooth.

The scent of the massage bar lingered for a good while too. My husband kept asking where the smell of strawberries was coming from and it was actually me. The scent isn't overpowering, it is nice and subtle but enough for people to be able to smell it.

I have purchased this countless times since it was available and it never fails me. I do love it and I highly recommend it if you like strawberries. I do think it could be slightly cheaper as they do melt down and you use them quite quickly.

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

My favourite massage bar so far

I bought this Strawberry Feels Forever massage bar from Lush at the same time as buying the Mange Too bar, in order to get a free massage bar tin. As it turned out neither of the bars actually fit in the tin, but I've been able to find other uses for it!

The massage bar cost £5.10, which is slightly more than some others in the range but less than Mange Too. It was the 'strawberryness' of the bar which attracted me to it - strawberries are my favourite fruit and this bar smells deliciously of strawberries (strawberries and cream might be a more accurate description), as well as being pink and strawberry-shaped!

According to the Lush website, the bar is made of crushed strawberries and "an infusion of hibiscus flowers". It smells like the Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel, for those of you that love that scent! The bar also contains cocoa butter and fairtrade shea butter to moisturise, and it is suitable for vegans.

I normally use massage bars after a bath for an intense moisturiser. To use, rub between your hands and the essential oils will melt so that you can rub them onto your skin. I found the bar melted more easily than Each Peach, but less easily than Mange Too. The oils made my skin really soft, even into the next day, but although I felt very moisturised (and you'd be making a mistake getting dressed straight after using this bar without dabbing off excess oils with a towel), my skin didn't feel greasy, which I did find with the Mange Too bar. I could still smell the lovely strawberry scent on my skin for ages afterwards, and the smell wasn't sickly (again unlike Mange Too).

I can't think of a single thing I dislike about this bar. It smells delicious, is reasonably priced and value for money (I've used mine about 5 or 6 times now and still have nearly half the bar left), and moisturises really luxuriously. Unlike the Each Peach bar I wouldn't recommend it for use as a daytime moisturiser, as it is quite intense, but then this bar isn't designed for that so I'm not going to mark it down there. It's slightly annoying that it doesn't fit into the massage bar tin, but hopefully you'll have an alternative place to put it - I'm using a leftover Ferrero Rocher box - and once you've used it a few times then it should get small enough to put into the tin.

I definitely recommend this massage bar and will definitely be buying it again. According to the picture it's limited edition, but it seems to have been around for ages and shows no signs of disappearing, so I guess I'm not the only one to think it's great!

                  Advantages

                  Disadvantages

I probably won't buy this bar again because in my opinion Lush have far better ones.

I am a huge fan of Lush massage bars and cannot recommend them highly enough, so I was very excited when I purchased the Strawbarry Feels massage bar and couldn't wait to try it! All the staff were raving about it and I was told it was one of their most popular massage bars and so naturally I had high expectations. It costs £5.10 for a 75g bar which I think is good value considering we usually get 4-6 full body massages out of one bar.

The smell is of strawberries, which is wonderful at first sniff, but after a while I found it started to smell a bit sickly. Also I found the scent wasn't as strong as some of the other Lush massage bars I've tried but this was probably a good thing seeing as I wasn't overly keen on the scent.

On application I found this bar rather greasy. It didn't really feel that pleasant to me - in fact I had to have a bath after using it because I felt far too oily. I don't usually have this problem with these bars.

the bar has so far lasted 4 full body massages and there is enough left for one more.

I think a lot of people will like this bar but sadly it isn't for me. I guess my skin just doesn't suit it and I'm not into scents quite as sweet as this. Its probably just a matter of personal taste.

                  Must have relationship saver

After recently trying and becoming addicted to Yummy Yummy Yummy shower gel/cream I had a thirst for all things pink and strawberries and cream flavour, when I stumbled across this.

This is a delicious massage bar from Lush shaped like a strawberry. It smells like their 'Yummy Yummy' shower gel or 'Magic Mushroom' bubble bar. To anyone who isn't a fan of Lush the smell is a combination of strawberries and cream! It is made from crushed strawberries and hibiscus so it isn't sickly sweet just yummy delicious.

To use simply take the bar and either hold in your hands for a second or rub between your hands. This starts to melt the bar which can then be rubbed slowly all over your body (best if it's onto someone else who then can return the favour!). It is soooo easy to use and the conditioning cocoa and shea butter leaves your skin sooo soft and smelling delicious!

After once use I wanted more and will often fake a sprain or injury to get my boyfriend to give me a strawberry feels massage! So far it has still regained it's shape and it's size after 6 uses. I must admit i even like to use it like a body butter and smooth into onto my skin once in a while when it's feeling dry and in need of some tlc! I wouldn't recommend this daily thought as it may leave your skin oily and greasy.

Lush sell a tin that you can store this in but they give it away free when you buy 2 bars. At £5.10 a bar I believe it is well priced as it lasts for months. It's a perfect pick me up and great relationship saver!

The Cocoa Butter and Fair Trade Shea Butter fully moisturise your skin the natural way, Fresh Strawberries give it it's yummy fruity smell, Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is very nourishing and help smooth the skin, Hibiscus Extract , Olibanum Oil and Bergamot Oil not only give a gorgeous scent but help to lift your mood as the oils get absorbed into your blood stream, in the same way aromatherapy works.

Overall i find this a bargain and is very fun to use, giving you a hands on invent your own massage to be used alone, with a loved one or with very good friends. It's cheaper than most top massage products and can be bought out of your pocket money! It lasts forever, is so easy to use and makes you smell like a delicious summer dessert. I can't be without this product.

This is a fab massage bar. Great for anyone with a sweet tooth!

One of my favourite Lush Showergels is Yummy Yummy Yummy so when a massage bar with the same scent came out I was one of the first to buy it! This was a limited edition massage bar just on sale for valentines day. This means there may be a few left if you hurry!

This massage bar is just heavenly. It is shaped like a heart with a pattern on the front to make it look like a strawberry. It is about the size of my hand and a lovely pink colour. It costs £4.95 like most of the other massage bars but is much bigger in my opinion.

The smell is delicious. It smells like strawberries and cream, alot like strawberry milkshake! It melts really easily in your hands and the smell lasts for ages. I love rubbing this all over me when I have just had a shower with Yummy Yummy Yummy. It makes my skin nice and soft and leaves me smelling delicious!

                      Lush valentine product

This was one of my Valentine days presents that I received this year and it was a limited edition product released for that particular day by Lush. It costs just under a fiver however you get at least a dozen uses from i so it is not bad value.

The product is a heart shaped half strawberry with the patterning on the front so that it resembles in appearence the fruit. It has a very sweet fresh smell to it like a ripened strawberry rather than the tasteless ones you get in the supermarkets. It is a bit like a strawberry starburst sweet but also has a mellow creamy sort of smell as well, either way the smell is divine and I love the feel of my skin afterwards and the smell it gives my skin.

For use I tend to massage it into my hands first to loosen it up and then apply it to my body. It does not have the greatest coveridge but given the size of the bar it does stll give quite a few applications.

This is a good product but I'm not totally sold on it and for the cost I would have expected a bit more. Nice for achange but bringing it out once a year for valentines day is about right.

                        Disadvantages

                        Love it!

I thought it was about time that I reviewed one of my Lush items on here as I do really love a lot of Lush products which is why I am so surprised that it has taken me so long to do a review on one of them! I thought what better place to start reviewing than with my most recent purchase, the strawberry feels forever massage bar.

This was released by Lush as a special Valentines Day product, a limited edition if you will. I say this as I know there are a lot of people asking for it to be made into a regular product in the Lush range... so maybe this limited edition won't stay limited if Lush listens to their fan and customer base?

I'll start off by describing the look of the bar; it is shaped like a giant half strawberry - in that it has a flat, smooth back and not a symmetrical design on each side. The front of it has rings on it, to represent the dimpled texture of a strawberry in real life and it is also a pale pink as opposed to red like a real strawberry, but it does have darker pink flecks running through it. I think the reason they decided to leave it a paler shade of pink/red is because if they had made it any deeper in colour, it could have been a bit of a pain to use as a massage bar due to it staining your skin... and possibly other household items such as bedding and towels etc.

In my opinion it is a perfect colour though... not only for Valentines Day, but for lush in general as I find a lot of girls who use Lush really like the more girly smells and products and there's nothing more girly that pink products that smell sweet! Since girls normally tend to use Lush products, more so than men it could be a good money maker for the company to keep it on as a regularly available item.

The bar fits into my hand but is about the size of the palm of my hand (if you chopped off my fingers and thumb - but please don't, as I quite like having the use of all my fingers haha). I think this is a good size to be honest, as any larger and it may have been too hard to handle and thus maybe too hard to apply to your skin depending on how you use / apply your massage bars!

Application of the bar is to me a personal preference, and not something I do the same every time so it seems. Sometimes I like to smear the bar over my skin and then massage it in, other times I warm the bar up in my hands and rub my hands on my skin. Personally I find that smearing it over the skin works best for me most of the time, as it means I'm not potentially wasting any as it's being applied directly to the area that I intend it for, and also it means I get a much stronger hit of the smell left on my skin.

I've noticed that some people actually dab off any excess that may not have been absorbed into their skin; I don't really like to do this as I prefer to apply it and then put on my dressing gown. This means that any product that doesn't get absorbed into my skin, scents my gown rather than the towel I'm about to put into the washing machine after using it and I at least feel that I get a bit more 'use' from doing it this way too... we are in a recession after all. ;-)

This brings me to my next point; the smell of this massage bar! I have to say the smell is absolutely divine. It has the sweet smell of the fresh strawberries used in the bar itself mixed with a more creamy scent that makes it smell to me something like a strawberry milkshake or ice cream. It's truly delightful, and if you have ever smelled Lush's yummy yummy yummy shower gel you may have some idea of the smell of this bar as it's also got the 'fruit sundae with cream on top' scent that is used in that.

I do think it could have been even better with a slightly stronger smell as although it's a noticeable smell, I prefer to have a stronger smell that lasts a little longer; so with this in mind, I used the massage bar after showering with yummy yummy yummy. Let me tell you now, I was in absolute strawberry heaven and still smelled like strawberries long after my shower so to get the maximum strawberry scent for as long as possible, I wholeheartedly recommend this method.

Another cocktail (so to speak) I like is using this with my snow fairly shower gel, or the godmother soap (both the same scent) as these are also sweet smelling fragrances. I am yet to try it with my candy fluff body dust, honey I washed the kids soap or any other sweeter items from my lush stash but I will do so and see if I can find any other good matches. Let me know if you have any good mixes for this too in the comments as I'm always up for trying new lush cocktails haha.

The bar also contains cocoa butter and (fair trade) shea butter along with a whole host of other oils to help with both the scent and to give an incredibly moisturising experience; it left my skin feeling beautiful afterwards.

Storing this bar is a bit of a pain, it has to be said as it's too big for the massage bar tins that you get from Lush, but it's not really advisable to leave it in the yellow paper bag that you get from Lush as the oils tend to soak into it and can end up ruining your actual product, not to mention ruining anything that may also be touching the paper bag. I find that storing it in a plastic zip seal bag works ok for me (although not totally perfect for a massage bar), as it does for most of my other Lush items in my stash. Again, please comment if you find an alternative method of storage that may be better than this.

The massage bar costs £4.95 (as of February 2009) and to me is worth every penny as my bar is still going strong after about 8 full body uses!

I recommend this to anybody who likes sweet smells like I do!

                          Advantages

                          Disadvantages

my advice: try before you buy

I bought this Lush massage bar for £4.95 as I just loved the look and smell of it when I picked up the sample and had a good sniff in the shop. I wasn't really in the mood to try the sample on so I just picked one up and popped it into my basket. I also read on their website that this is a limited edition massage bar for valentine's so I just had to try it out before it was gone forever.

The massage bar is a baby pink heart shaped strawberry that just looks so adorable, I'm sure most girls would just love this one because it's one of their cutest massage bars to date. I think the look of it is what first attracted me to this. The other bars, whilst still looking nice, don't look similar to this at all and being limited edition meant that I couldn't leave it for long.

Though I read that this is made with fresh strawberries, I wouldn't say it actually smelt of real strawberries... It's sort of a bubblegummy creamy scent. It reminds me more of the frutella strawberry flavoured sweets I used to love as a child (and still do). It's a nice strawberries and cream scent when you smell the bar. Though I wouldn't say it smells the same on my skin but I'll tell you more about that in a bit.

The massage bar is made of cocoa and shea butter to soften the skin and this one has crushed strawberries used as a base as well. This bar also has hibiscus flowers mixed into it to add more of a depth to the scent. From the ingredients list I can also see that they've used coconut oil and glycerine, which are known to help moisturise the skin and bergamot and geranium oil adds a bit of a citrusy scent to the bar.

So, as I've mentioned, the massage bar smells nice and sweet on its own but when it reacts with my skin I can smell the citrus and some other more sour smelling scent that I cannot quite put my finger on. I really wanted to smell sweet so having that hint of citrus and sour scent just doesn't really make it smell as nice and sweet as the bar on its own so I'm a bit disappointed at this.

I would say that this is an ok massage bar and is good for moisturising the skin. The only problem I have with it is that it doesn't smell exactly how I would like it to on me (or even on my friend so I'm not alone). I would suggest that if you like the look of this, just pop into your local Lush shop and try it on your skin first before you buy.

                            Advantages

                            Disadvantages

I am hooked on massage bars now.....and feeling slightly deranged as a result my new obsession!

Costing just under the £5 mark, I purchased it to cheer myself up en route to the gym. I needed a reason to work out and had decided that I could use the massage bar after my workout provided I was sweaty enough to need a shower!

The bar itself comes in a strawberry heart shape and had been brought out just in time for valentines day. I hope it sticks around as there are no other massage bars with the same scent.

It works like a moisturiser but in the format of a bar insted of a liquid/gel which you rub over yourself. Once its warm, it is very easy to use- though don't warm it too much or it will melt into nothing! (It is very hard to over heat this unless you decide to leave it on a radiator!)

To enhance the scent, you could try using Yummy-yummy shower gel which I have been told has the same scent- to me I think there is a very slight difference, but it still blends well. A very sweet strawberry scent- while I wouldn't go as far to say it smells like fresh strawberry's, it does not smell like strawberry children's chewing gum! Its sandwiched somewhere in-between these.
I used a shower gel I got shortly after Christmas (it only comes out at Christmas as far as I am aware) called Snow Fairy, it also goes very well with this scent.

To use the massage bar, the best idea is to get someone (tall fit and hansom...) to rub it over your skin for you...but failing that (and there were no nice tall dark hansom gents in the ladies changing rooms at my gym!) you can do this yourself- its very easy. You can either rub the bar directly over warm skin where it blends like lipstick would (colourlessly of course!) or massage it into your hands and rub your hands over your body. The latter way is better for smaller or rounder parts of your body such as your lower legs/ankles/feet/hands and rubbing it directly onto skin works very well for places like your back, your stomach, your chest and thighs.

That's it! So simple! No need to mix with water, no need to wash or scrub off- you will find that it sinks right in, and has left your skin soft enough to kiss! I really love this format for a moisturiser too as the main issue I have with body moisturisers and my reason for not using them, is because they just do not blend into your skin quickly enough- no matter how fast they try, you do still have some hanging around time, even if its 30 seconds, its 30 seconds longer then I want to wait and I just don't bother. With the Lush massage bars, there just is no wait- it sinks right in straight away and leaves no residue on clothes at all.

My only issues with the product are that you do need a case as the wrapper it comes in does become old and is not really designed to be used to transport it around at the bottom of a sports bag, you can buy a tin from Lush, but they are not easy to use- try opening one when you have oily hands- its a nightmare! Had these been redesigned it would have made all the difference for me.
I also found that after using the massage bar, Yoga became impossible. My hands and feet just kept slipping and sliding all over the place! But I can't fault Lush for that- they do not say anything about being good for sports grip! Just don't go do anything like power pump classes after using this, it could be very very painful and dangerous!

I look forward to using this bar. I like the scent but should prewarn you really do not want to be wearing a musk/sandalwood based perfume on top if you do wear perfumes. Stick to light, floral and day-time scents and your safe- or don't wear any perfume at all- the scent of the massage bar is enough that you really don't need to.

I would use this bar everywhere, its far lighter to carry around-and less wasteful in terms of packaging to take to the gym, on holiday or visiting friends, Its also good for nights in when you want to pamper yourself. What I like is the soft sheen your left with after using this- its not a glitter bar, but does pack a fairly good moisturising punch and so is great for dry winter skin. It is easy to use, very effective and has a scent that lasts way longer then an hour. The bar itself? I would expect it to see me through a good few months- probably 4 or 5 months -and thats applying it all over my body about 4 or 5 times a week.

                            Do it!

I had no idea I liked the scent of strawberries so much before I walked into Lush and picked up this new massage bar. Something about that shop has you wandering around in a semi-high daze, within two minutes completely suscepible to the idea that all you really need in life is to slather yourself with fruit-smelling cake-wedges of cocoa butter. Surely life itself is an entirely olfactory experience. You were a fool to have believed your other senses for so long.
How well they know us women. Those with barely a sweet tooth to begin with will be whipped straight back to a lusty, carnal moment as a woolly-panted Gatherer. Hunter comes home to the cave with a deer slung over his back, to be met with the guilty (yet satisfied) glare of his mate smeared with purple berry juice. (Well, it was pretty much our only source of vitamin C).
Nowadays we have chocolate; and Lush. My husband (confirmed Hunter but without the spear) thinks Lush is cashing in on an unhealthy modern addiction to sugar - he's right, and good luck to them. Mere shopping is not enough to satisfy the gathering instinct - we need the sensuality of smearing ourselves with that berry juice, even if it is ludicrously, obsessively over-sweet (ESPECIALLY if it is ludicrously, obsessively over-sweet).
Having said that, once I tried this strawberry bar outside of the shop I noticed a slightly acrid, soapy tinge to the smell, which does however fade after a little while. This is a great moisturiser; it soaks into the skin much better than the other massage bars I have tried, which tend to remain quite sticky and ill-absorbed, despite their similar addictive qualities.
Massage bar? What (heterosexual) man is likely to participate in this? As my own domesticated Hunter put it, "I like the taste and smell of lamb chops, but I have no desire for you or I to smell like it" (or, indeed, be smeared with its juices).
That may be the case for you guys - but ladies, this is a great all-over moisturiser. Give in to that berry-lust and be proud to be a woman!

Made with crushed strawberries and an infusion of hibiscus flowers /
