If you are unaware of Lush's bath melts, they are nothing like their bath bombs or bath ballistics. They often do not colour the water, or release stars and confetti in the water, or even create fizz and bubbles! A little boring in comparison to some of the bath products, but the bath melt is renowned for create a layer on the top of your bath water which helps to soften and smooth the skin, as well as releasing oils and fragrances to make your bath more relaxing.
The bath melt is fairly small, so I just used it all in one bath. I suppose you could split it into two and get two uses, but I just threw the whole snowman in. I think it is quite cute, and makes a nice change to the relatively simple designs that their other bath melts have. As the name suggests, it is a melting snowman, and I just think its lovely. Some of them in the shop were a little disfigured and odd in shape, so you could not tell what they actually were. However, my one was a very well formed little snowman, and I could not wait to pop him in my bath.
To use this, you do not have to mess around by crumbling under water, you just simply have to drop it into the bath once it is full and warm, and the snowman starts to get to work. I found that the melt took quite a while to dissolve completely. I would say a good ten minutes for all traces to disappear. It is simple to use, and within minutes you start to see the water gather a layer on the top as all of the product rises to the surface. It smelt lovely, and started to create a vague white shade on top of the water which was nice. You could almost see where some of the oils had reached up. One thing I was disappointed in was the chocolate buttons on the snowman. He has them on his eyes, and some as his buttons. They are a nice decorative thought for the bath melt, but they are a real inconvenience when in the bath. They started to melt and get messy, with brown bits sticking to my skin. Eventually, with a bit of effort I got them to sort of melt away into the water, but this really wasn't relaxing. I would recommend picking these out before use to save this happening.
The scent of this bath melt is quite nice. He is filled with essential oils, and scented of marzipan, orange, vanilla and rich fruits. I was really looking forward to this as I am a huge fan of the Snowcake soap and Smitten hand cream. They smell just like marzipan, and many compared this snowman to these. Unfortunately, although the snowman had a slight marzipan scent, it was not too strong which I was disappointed in. I smelt chocolate and fruity smells much more, and they stood out most for me. The combination of scents for me was a little muddled and maybe too much. All in all, it was not bad, just not really that good either.
I found that my bath was just so much more relaxing when using this little snowman, and in particular there was just one benefit that stood out for me. This was how moisturising the bath melt was! It left my skin feeling and looking lovely and smooth. I was really impressed with the results, and this meant that I did not have to use a body butter or lotion after my bath. Bath melts are a great way to moisturise the skin, as well as pamper yourself a little. The great results on my skin from this bath melt are all down to the fact that it contains shea butter and cocoa butter which are well known for their moisturising properties. I have tried many bath melts, and I can confirm that this is just as good as the more expensive ones for moisturising the skin.
Overall, I was really pleased with this little snowman. He was a nice treat to use and great to receive as a gift for Christmas. It worked well, and left my skin feeling wonderful. Unfortunately, he is no longer available, but he might pop back for a visit next Christmas! In terms of value for money, this is really good, and if it comes back this Christmas I will be sure to grab a few. One star knocked off as I noticed some minor issues, but nothing big. Thanks for reading. :)
Summary: A nice treat at Christmas time.
