Lush The Melting Snowman Bath Melt
Advantages: appearance, soft bath water, not too expensive, moisturising, scent
Disadvantages: not as exciting to use as other Lush products
Lush offer a collection of bath melts. Bath melts are packed full of bicarb of soda, shea butter and cocoa butter. They melt in hot water and leave your bath water soft and your skin moisturised.
Melting Snowman is released as part of the Lush Christmas range. He has a Christmas fragrance of clove, cinnamon, benzoin, lime, sweet orange oil and patchouli. Regular Lush users will may be aware that this is the same as the Snowcake fragrance. Melting Snowman also has almond oil in it and potential users can check the full ingredients list on the website if they have concerns or allergies. Melting Snowman is suitable for vegans.
~Price and Availability~
Melting Snowman can be purchased from www.lush.co.uk or instore. The current selling price for this little guy is £2.25.
During a recent visit to Lush to obtain a specific product from their Halloween range, I ended up taking this little guy home. He looked very cute and at £2.25, he is a bit cheaper than the majority of Lush bath products. The sales assistant wrapped up it up for me and I used it the other evening. I personally prefer showers over baths but if I have Lush products in the house, I like to treat myself to a long, relaxing bath.
Visually, Melting Snowman lives up to his name. He looks like a big puddle of melted snow with a round head and little chocolate buttons for eyes and buttons. An orange carrot completes the look perfectly and he is very fun to look at. I think he would appeal to children as well as adults and I am tempted to buy another for my son as a treat as he loves Lush products.
I have used other bath melts from Lush in the past and whilst I favour bubble bars, I do find the bath melts to be appealing. Melting Snowman is a good size and has a powdery feel to it. Melting Snowman smells gorgeous in solid form - quite spicy and warm. Lush have recommended two ways that you can use him. You can either drop him in to a running bath or wait until you are in the bath and drop him in then. I used the first option. As with the other bath melts, the snowman starts to dissolve into hot water and doesn't fizz about like a bath ballistic does. I actually felt quite guilty watching this little white blob melting away but my conscience was cleared when I stepped in to the bath!
The snowman melts at quite a slow pace and I noticed the water started to become a cloudh white colour. Touching the melting bath melt, it feels like a smooth paste. The entire snowman completely melts including the chocolate buttons. The water is completely white with a very delicate froth on the top - no bubbles. Using this bath melt proved to be a very relaxing experience and I spent a good 30 minutes in the hot water. When I first stepped in, I was pleased by how amazingly soft the water felt. It was like stepping in to a bath of silk. I was able to lie back, relax and take in the lots of scent of this bath melt. Whilst the spicy scent was still evident, the almond oil came through too and offered a sort of sweet, marzipan scent which I liked.
The water remained soft and beautifully scented for the duration of my bath and didn't leave any residue on my bath when the water had gone down the plughole. I was pleased by how my skin felt after drying off. I have dry skin which needs moisturised. I would say that this bath melt moisturised most of my skin really well and left it feeling soft and delicately scented with the almond oil all night. It wasn't quite so effective on extra dry areas but did soften my skin well. I have sensitive skin and didn't experience any irritation from using this bath melt.
Overall, I was very impressed with Melting Snowman. It was adorable in design and was quite luxurious to use in my bath. The scent is perfect for cold, Wintery evenings and I would happily purchase this bath melt again. It can be used alongside the Snowcake soap to ensure your skin is soft and beautifully clean too.
Thanks for reading :)
