Lush The Olive Branch Shower Gel
Advantages: Can be used on body and hair, suitable for men, lathers well
Disadvantages: Smells a bit masculine for a women's product
I received a huge Lush gift box for Christmas this year, hence I will probably be writing lots of reviews about Lush products over the next few weeks! One of the products in the gift box was this shower gel, called The Olive Branch.
Upon looking at the shower gel, I was a bit wary as it seemed to be a strange orange, rusty colour and I noticed that it had separated. The liquid on the bottom was more orange and transparent, and on the top there was a kind of white, opaque liquid. I read the bottle and it did say to give it a good shake before using it, so I did and it seemed to do the job!
I'm not sure what I was expecting this to smell like, olive oil I suppose! But it doesn't smell like olive oil, I actually think that it smells quite manly. I don't mean that in a bad way, it doesn't make you smell like a man or anything, it's just quite a masculine scent - like a really weak, toned down version of a man's shower gel with a hint of femininity about it! I really don't know what that description will conjure up in people's minds but I find the scent quite hard to describe as it doesn't particularly smell of anything else that I've smelt before!
The shower gel lathers up quite well and I find that I only need to use a little bit to wash my whole body. This is always a good thing with shower gels that are quite expensive, because it makes me think that I might buy them again as you actually don't get too bad value for money.
I probably wouldn't have picked this product in the shop, but I am glad I got to try it out as part of my gift set as it is a nice product. Also, because it's not really girly smelling like some Lush shower gels (e.g. snow fairy), it means that my boyfriend can use it too (although I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing - he always uses loads!!).
I don't think I like this enough to buy it again, not because there is anything wrong with it but just because there are so many other Lush products which I rate more and which I prefer the smell of. To be honest, I'm more of a girly girl shower gel kind of girl so will probably go for sweeter scents in future.
I should also mention that it says on the bottle that this product is for body and hair - however as I have never used it on my hair, I can't comment on how it works as a shampoo!
Summary: Nice product but there are so many more in Lush that I prefer so I wouldn't re-purchase
