Lush Therapy Massage Bar
Advantages: Organic, Fair Trade, Handmade, Packaging-free, does what it says and smells amazing!
Disadvantages: If you aren't a chocolate fan, you might not like the scent.
Most people seem rather wary and confused over the term 'Massage Bar' when it comes to one of Lush's staple lines of packaging-free, handmade products. I admit, I was doubtful to purchase my first Massage Bar as the name of it -is- very specific, and I wasn't big on giving out massages (and I very rarely ever receive them, poor me!) but I took the plunge when I was explained in store that they can also be used as an all-over-body moisturizer!
Unlike most moisturizers on the high street, this one in a SOLID, moulded form - made up primarily of creamy, Organic Fair-trade Cocoa Butter, and Shea butter as its base. This, obviously, is what softens your skin, and softens it extremely well. Both of these butters are renowned to treat and reduce stretch marks, marks, and rough dry skin.
As well as feeling yummy, it smells yummy too. It's laced with Organic Lavender Essential Oil which calms the mind, and calms down muscles - however the scent is very delicate. It is also laced with Organic Neroli Oil which comes from the blossoms of orange trees, and brings about the feeling of euphoria and well being - as well as being reported to improve the texture of the skin. And finally it is laced with Organic Sweet Orange Oil, known to uplift your mood!
You'll find as soon as you touch the bar, it reacts to your body temperature - and melts into a clear, un-staining oil very quickly. All you have to do is run the bar over the body parts you want to work on in moisturizing, and then rub the lovely oils in with your hands, or, rub the bar in your hands firstly -then- apply to your body. It isn't sticky, but it doesn't dry super quickly either like a standard body moisturizer - so I'd advise you to use this before bed, and then you can fully appreciate it penetrating your skin and truly pampering you.
I have problems with neck pain, and I found the little 'nubbin' on the top of the bar really helpful when massaging the back of my neck.
All of its ingredients contribute to its very distinct scent: Terry's Chocolate Orange! If you have an earthy, herbal, sweet tooth - this is definitely for you! It really is delicious, and a joy to use. At £5.65p for a 65g bar - I'd say its well worth it, and lasts a very good while.
Summary: Good stuff, will purchase again and again.
