Lush Therapy Massage Bar
Advantages: smells nice
Disadvantages: not for stretch marks! and doesn't melt so easily :(
After reading all the good reviews about Lush products on the market, I decided to pay a visit to the Covent Garden store near where I worked and see what they had to offer! There was a lovely sales assistant there who was more than happy to talk me through the most popular products, the scents, the background of the business (the guy who created white musk for bodyshop and many of their other products, but now decided to open his own natural business, etc etc!) and seemed really enthusiastic about the brand which helped persuade me even more to try some of their products!
I asked the sales assistant if she had anything that would be good for stretch marks, and she recommended this lush therapy bar to me. Since having my daughter, I was unfortunate enough to develop stretch marks on my tummy which I absolutely hate, and after having tried bio-oil and many other expensive potions for "reducing the appearance of stretch marks" I thought maybe having something natural would be a more effective solution. The sales assistant informed me that this bar contained lavender, a soothing ingredient which helps elasticity of the skin, which would make it more flexible and not prone to stretch marks and neroli which sends endorphins (I think thats the right word!) to your brain which induces feelings of happiness, and the lush therapy bar was created to be rubbed on the tummy to send happy feelings to the baby. All sounded very idealistic so I was more than happy to exchange £6.25 for this great little bar!
However when I got home I noticed it was not all it purported to be...in store she simply rubbed it between her hands and then rubbed a small amount on my hand (giving me a lovely hand massage at the same time) but at home I found the bar is very hard and I cannot apply it to my skin in the same way :( I find myself rubbing the bar all over my body (like exfoliating scrub or something) and it feels to come off in lumps rather than the smooth "massage oil" she sold it to me as...as far as I am aware my bathroom is always steaming hot after my shower, but the bar stays solid as a rock! She did advise me it doesn't contain any additives so it stays solid naturally, but I didn't think it would be this resistant. Another small complaint is that I did not find it made me particularly happy at all! Just my same usual happiness of every day, but not bouncing off the walls ecstatic (if you know what I mean!). One thing I would say is that the smell is lovely, although I use a perfume on top, as it is not a smell I would want to walk around all day smelling like....unfortunately it has also done nothing for my stretch marks so I am back to square one. I bought it 3 weeks ago, and will continue to use it until it is finished but, after that I most definitely won't be returning to buy anything else, any time soon....
