Lush THINK PINK Bath Bomb
Bath ballistics are not my favourite product from Lush despite my true addiction to Lush. In my humble opinion these are a fun product and apart from giving off a little scent they soften the water and give a fun fizz as they dissolve but that is about the extent of it. I had this one as part of my gifts for my birthday and I decided to use it just before Christmas over a couple of nights.
WHAT DOES THIS LOOK LIKE?
This is another of the rather more plain bath bombs that are round and a bit smaller than a tennis ball. It does however have small flowers around the outside sort of pushed into the ball. They look a bit like icing flowers and they are different colours and the actual ballistic is a deep pink.
I popped this into my T-shirt drawer for a week or so that I got a bit of a drawer freshener benefit from it before using it in my bath. It did have a lovely sweet creamy sweetie scent which comes from the combination of vanilla and neroli, lavender and tonka so it had a lot of promise for a good scent.
DOES IT SMELL GOOD?
Yes indeed a lovely sweet orange creamy aroma with just a hint of lavender a sweet and creamy balance. It is a really lovely pretty colour and with the flowers and all these lovely oils in it I had high hopes for this one.
WHAT LUSH SAY:
"Red is dead, blue is through, green's obscene and brown's taboo.
We wouldn't presume to tell a woman
What a woman ought to think,
But tell her if she's gotta think, Think Pink!."
"Mark was so pleased with himself when he hit on this combination of tonka and vanilla absolutes - he thinks this smell is like a great big reassuring hug!"
INTO THE BATH:
As these ballistics are not cheap I think to just get one bath from it is VERY expensive so being a cheap skate I break mine into at least two. They are actually quite hard to break and I have to put them in a plastic bag and them either bang them with a rolling pin or drop them hard onto the ceramic tiled floor. I don't think I am alone as I see on Ebay people selling crushed up ones in bulk deals.
I got about half of this ballistic as it was smaller than average size, I think they must be shrinking or my eyes are deceiving me and dropped it into the bath away from the running tap I find allows it to fizz slowly and release the scents best. This is was beautiful clear pretty pink colour not cloudy at all. As more water went into the bath the colour was actually a very pale barely noticeable pink in the bath.
The smell given off was gently sweet and creamy. The effect in the end was subtle and gentle in fact rather too gentle for me as I do like quite string smells. I actually would have preferred the scent to be a little stronger as this became extremely subtle.
I do enjoy the soothing effect of watching the ballistic fizz its way around the bath and the water turning the lovely gentle pink colour while at the same time giving off the slightly sweet scent, mildly orange and a bit of a creaminess of vanilla coming from the tonka. I quite liked the bits of confetti that floated around in the water and they actually ended up sort of dissolving away so there was no nasty sludge to clear out after the bath.
As I get in I do enjoy the feeling of softness in the water and lie back to enjoy the comfortable and soothing id somewhat subtle scents of the creamy sweetness. As this is really only scented water I do use soap as well but lie and enjoy the bath for a few minutes before I get around to the washing and cleaning business of the bath. I chose a lovely handmade vanilla soap I have which was made by my friend in Australia with goat's milk to use with this bath as it complimented the aroma of the bath bomb in this case.
AFTER THE BATH:
Once again as with all these sort of products I make sure that I rinse the bath out after I have used it as sometimes there are bits of product or a bit of a greasy or colour residue in the bath if ,I forget. This one I found left very little in the way of greasiness or colour residue in the bath so it needed very little cleaning and in fact all I had to do was swill out the bath with hot water after it had emptied so this was not a problem in this case.
WHAT DO I THINK THEN?
This was a nice enough sweet rather too subtly scented sweet girly pink bath bomb. It was a pleasant sort of scent and I enjoyed it in my bedtime bath but it is not one that is so great that I am going to buy it again. The scent didn't really stay on my skin but neither did my skin didn't feel nasty and tight at all. I chose a vanilla body lotion which worked with the scent of the bath bomb and left me smelling lovely and creamy and sweet.
I noticed that when I went down stairs and then came back up that the scent was noticeable but not as strong as some Lush bombs are, which was disappointing.
ARE THERE ANY UNPLEASANT INGREDIENTS?
Surely not, this is Lush after all but you might be surprised to find that Lush, although I am one of their biggest fans is not perfect. This one seems to not have any of the nasty ingredients found in some of their products which I am pleased to see. There are no bubbles so there is no need for any surfactants and the sodium bicarbonate is for softening water and is good for calming skin too. So top marks Lush.
This is a pretty pink very girly bath bomb and a bit of fun to have a nicely scented bath. If you have any skin problems then you should be alright with this one but test first if unsure. I do have sensitive skin and some patches of eczema and I had no problems so obviously these aren't the ingredients I am allergic too.
I quite liked this but not sure I would rush to buy it again as it is expensive for what you get and I actually prefer bubble bars to bath ballistics.
So I would recommend if you like pretty pink subtle smelling scents. This is very pretty and would make a nice gift for anyone girly with its colour and little pretty flowery. These are great if you are happy with scented water softening baths rather than a bath of bubbles and if you don't mind cleaning your bath after you have got out as well.
Thanks for reading. This review may be posted on other sites under my same user name.
