Product Lush Tisty Tosty
Purchased from Lush
The Lush Tisty Tosty Bath Bomb is a heart shaped bath ballistic which you place in the bath whilst it's running and the ballistic fizzes away (courtesy of the sodium Bicarbonate and Citric Acid combo). The Ballistic then release scents, oils e.g. cocoa butter etc into the water which then will create a lovely scented bath to relax in.
Bath Ballistics have been around for a few years now but Lush has always strived to create inventive and fun themed ballistics incorporating glitter, rose petals and seaweed into the ballistics which float on the surface of the bath as the ballistic fizzes away.
As with all Lush products the ingredients are ethically sourced and as natural as possible which ensures that any chemical nasties or skin irritants are either non existent or used in minimal doses.
*****Appearance & Packaging*****
The Tisty Tosty is an inoffensive heart shaped Bath Ballistic which fits neatly into the palm of my hand, which is about 8cm width and length. The Ballistic is white with small delicate pink rose buds fused into the product.
Being a fan of all things girly and especially partial to delicate pink rose buds which I blame upon my Aromatherapy training, since then anything Rose scented seems to be a sure fire winner with me, I was sold the moment I laid eyes upon the Tisty Tosty. I instantly imagined laying in a lovely relaxing bath surrounded by floating pink rose buds engulfed in the delicate scent whilst dreaming of cottage gardens and imagining myself to be a modern day Snow White being followed around by chirping birds and assorted woodland creatures.
The scent is a delicate English rose type scent and although quite a strong scent isn't an overpowering aroma.
Lush philosophy dictates that packaging is kept to a minimum and that everything is recycled and recyclable. The Tisty Tosty was displayed on a rack of Bath Ballistics inside the shop, once I picked the Tisty Tosty up and took it to the counter it was placed into a small recycled paper bag and a label with the price was stuck onto the bag. Simple, effective and good for the environment.
The product is very simple to use, it's a case of placing the Tisty Tosty ballistic into a bath of running water and sit back and let the Ballistic release all its lovely goodness into the bath. It really is that easy to use.
I found that the Ballistic fizzed away and dispersed into the bath with ease and the scent released created a subtle aroma throughout the bathroom and the hallway, the rose buds which had been the main hook for my impulse purchase rather sadly floating limply at the top of the bath and turned into a slightly sludgy mess after a few minutes, although personally this did not detract from the quality of the product and in hindsight I assume this is presumably what small pink rose buds would do when immersed in hot water.
My skin felt very soft after the bath with a slightly pleasant oily feeling and the scent remained on my skin and in the bathroom throughout the bathing experience and also well into the evening.

The Tisty Tosty contains the following ingredients:-
Sodium Bicarbonate, Citric Acid, Seven Rosebuds, Rose Absolute oil, Orris Root Powder and Limonene.
Sodium Carbonate is a grayish-white crystalline powder. Sodium Sesquicarbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate are white crystalline solids. Baking soda is another name for Sodium Bicarbonate. In cosmetics and personal care products, these ingredients are used in the formulation of bath, skin, and hair preparations. Source:- www.cosmeticinfo.org
Citric Acid is an organic acid that is widely distributed in plants and animals. Calcium Citrate, Potassium Citrate and Sodium Citrate are salts of Citric Acid. In cosmetics and personal care products, Citric Acid and its salts have a wide variety of uses including aftershave lotions, baby shampoos, mascara, and lipstick. Source:- www.cosmeticinfo.org
Iris germanica. From the Iris family, comes this wonderful powdered root that is often used in potpourri and cosmetic blends as a scent fixative and stabilizer, it holds a similar scent to violets. For cosmetic purposes, orris root does hold several natural anti-inflammatory flavonoids which will be passed into your topical use. Source:- http://www.organic-creations.com
As an Aromatherapist I would recommend Rose Oil for calming any skin irritations, easing female hormones and to help soothe and calm the emotions. Rose Absaloute oil is a great oil to use for anti aging creams due to its restorative benefits to the skin.
A good healthy blend of ingredients although if you suffer from sensitive skin the Citric Acid and Bicarboante may be best avoided as a precautionary measure.
*****Value for money*****
I think as a one off luxury item then the product is viable as a financial purchase, but due to the product being a Bath Ballistic you are literally watching £2.96 fizzing away into the bath and then being fizzed away down the plug hole. Although the frugal amongst you may wish to use half of the Ballistic thus enabling you to get at least two baths for the £2.96.
