“ Brand: Lush / Type: Bath Salt „
I like the look of these ballistics from Lush. They are smaller than the average ballistic and are star shaped in a very pale blue with a gold stripe across the star with twinkle written on it. I like them because they look so cute. I think star shapes are lovely and really look pretty and fun and cute.
These ballistics fizz easily in the water and dissolve pretty quickly. They dissolve far more quickly than round spherical bath bombs because there is a larger surface area that is in contact with the water.
The water was incredibly soft after I had used this and was not coloured very much at all. I think this is because it is such a pale coloured ballistic.
The scent very mild and a little like baby powder. Although this was very pleasant, it was not strong enough or powerful enough for a luxurious bath. I would expect a stronger and deeper smell from Lush. Although to be honest I think a talcum powdered bath is pretty unusual!
At £2.75 per ballistic, I think this is overpriced because it is not very big. It does make a lovely bath though. But I am afraid I will have to dock a star due to poor value for money.
I had used the regular round shaped Twinkle ballistic either last year or the year before, and loved the scent of it, so decided to get myself another one as a treat.
The idea of a ballistic, if you're not familiar, is that you drop it into the water and it will dissolve leaving the water scented and also softer as they tend to contain lots of essential oils.
The Lush Twinkle ballistic is now star-shaped, which makes it look a little more interesting, and I suppose slightly more Christmassy than it used to. It is still the same powdery blue colour, but now has a yellow stripe across the front, with the word 'Twinkle' so you don't forget what it's called! Also, when it was round it was quite small - for any regular Lush customers, think Butterball for size - so the star shaped version means you get more for your money.
I love the scent of this product, and supposedly it's the same as Lush's American Cream conditioner, although I've yet to try that so can't say if that definitely is the case or not. It contains Vanilla Absolute, Clary Sage, Lavender Oil, and Gardenia Extract as well as a few other things. The Lush website describe the scent as 'strawberry, vanilla and orange milkshakes'. I would say that it's like vanilla with a sort of fruity side and a hint of spice! It's a very soft, girly scent and not too strong or overpowering.
When I dropped this into a bath full of water it turned the water a beautiful light blue/turquoise colour. The ballistic does contain gold and red glitter, however despite being able to see some of the glitter on the ballistic when it was dry, I have no idea where it went when it was in the bath. There certainly wasn't any glitter sticking to my skin, and I couldn't see or feel it in the water either. For me, personally, this is a good thing, as I hate having 'bits' stuck to me, and I didn't want to look over the top sparkly.
The scent of this product became more intense once I'd put it in the water, which was great for me, as many of the Lush ballistics I've used recently, the smell disappeared virtually as soon as it hit the water. This one though, smelled gorgeous and was incredibly relaxing.
After getting out of the bath, my skin felt soft, and the scent stayed on my skin for ages, as I kept catching it when I was walking about the house. Also the scent stayed in the bathroom until the next morning, it was gorgeous.
A Twinkle Star-Shaped costs £2.69 from Lush or online at www.lush.co.uk This product is only available until Christmas, so if you want to try it, you'll need to be quick.
In terms of scent, this is by far one of the nicest smelling Lush ballistics this Christmas. Rather than the spicy scent many of the ballistics have at this time of year, this is a very soft and feminine scent, and really is beautiful. Definitely recommended.
When a relationship is going wrong what is it that you do? Well me I sulk and then I spend some money..on me! Hence why I own so much stuff I guess lol. My buying is phenomenal even if my relationships are not! So one day a couple of weeks back I knew a relationship was coming to an end. It wasn't anything too serious and I wasn't heartbroken but I was a bit upset. So I went into Lush where not only do I visit to get me some wonderful products as treats but I also sometimes nip in just for a chat to the wonderful staff an I am on first name terms! So after moaning at how awful and selfish men are I decided to purchase me a treat and this is the one I chose as it was new in store and I liked the shape of it.
I kept it a couple of days until my relationship (as predicted) came to an end.. livid I was! So after a good rant and rave and a few tears I decided to have myself a much needed pamper day and one of the products I used was this one.
Mint green star shape which is quite powdery to the touch with some yellow sandy type stuff containing glitter around the middle and engraved on there is the word twinkle. Not the most exciting of products in the looks stakes but is fragrant and pretty enough and it does put you in the festive spirit somewhat! Lush call it small I don't actually. I thought it was normal sized!
What Lush Say About Their Product....
We are delighted to see the return of the twinkle! It was a best-seller last year, despite its small size and unassuming soft green colour. This year it has metamorphosed into the shape of a star. How appropriate. Yes, it does twinkle with tiny golden shimmers, but don't worry, Twinkle is ever so subtle in its approach. Its scent is a different matter; it fills your bathroom, home and entire life with the intoxicating gorgeous scent of American Cream - strawberry, vanilla, orange milkshakes. To top up the scent and the sparkles for a night out, add a coating of Shimmy Shimmy sparkle bar.
Well I dumped it under my running taps of course and filled my bath to the brim. When I returned it had gently fizzled and I was left with the whole lot melted into my bath and the colour of the water was a very, very pale mint green. No bubbles or anything but there were a few tiny speckles of golden glitter particles twinkling on the top of the water. However these were so few I really had to look hard for them because in my white bath tub and on top of the gentle green I could barely see them at all.
The fragrance was nice enough. I wasn't blown away by it or overly impressed. Lush say this smells of the American Cream combination which is strawberry, vanilla and orange milkshakes. Me... well I smelt a small hint of vanilla no strawberry and mainly orange though in a milkshake formula?... no it just smelt more of oranges than anything else to be perfectly honest but it was nice to be fair though there was something about the smell that reminded me of talc but I can't explain that really to you. It isn't overly zesty and has a sweet undertone to it.
As I lay in the water yes it felt soft, gentle and hydrating. I didn't get covered in glitter, in fact none got on my skin though as I said earlier I could faintly see it on the water. However....
Although I couldn't see what I'm about to tell you I could feel it. Powder had settled underneath me and sat at the bottom of my bath. It felt gritty and powdery and not all that comfortable to be sat upon. There felt like there was lots so I swished the water about but a few minutes later the powder had settled again and once more I was lying on it. There was nothing I could do about that so I had to grin and bear it. It was ok I managed but I'd of preffered there not to be that feeling obviously.
The smell stayed put until I finished bathing and I washed in my bathwater (with some Lush soap of course) and I shaved my bits and bobs and I have to declare I got a very, very smooth shave indeed even with a razor that was almost blunted! My skin felt soft and clean, I was lightly fragranced and when I dried off I was pleased I had no powder on my skin ready to dry me out and I also had no glitter on my person. Having said that I did feel the glitter particles were not needed within this product as not only did they not make my bath look gorgeous they weren't on me or anything! My skin felt fresh, clean and bright and all was well. Whilst I wasn't amazed by this product it did the trick. It made me feel good so although not blown away I did feel somewhat uplifted after my bath.
My bath though after using this was in a state. The powder had as I said settled in the bottom of my bath and my bath was very dirty and I'm not a dirty person! All my hair I had shaved off my body seemed to get glued to the sides of my tub and became scummy and so I really had to rinse my bath out or my Mother would have murdered me. It was easy enough to do with hot water though an my step fathers face flannel (this method is optional lmao!).
Although this is nice enough product from Lush if this was the first product someone purchased from the store it's one of them they'd think I can't understand why people go mad about the shop, simply cos it isn't all that. It isn't dreadful it's just missing something and the powder not dispersing properly is not good. I just feel the limited edition products Lush provide us with are on the whole disappointing so I won't recommend this one as Lush do so much better!
Only sold in Lush at the price of £2.75 Per Ballistic and of course is natural and not tested on animals!
