One of my favourite shops that doesn't sell DVD's, books or video games is Lush and we have a nice branch of the shop in The Hague. I went in at Christmas this year to peruse the special offers and I admit I could stand in the shop all day and just breathe slowly in and out. I just love the smells. I usually end up buying something and this time was no exception. However, I received this bar alongside numerous others in a basket made up for me by my girlfriend this Christmas.
The North Pole soap comes in, believe it or not, the shape of a pole . It is striped pink and white and when you purchase a piece, which is cut off a large pole, you get a white block or a pink block. In my basket I got a piece of white.
The shop smells like rock or striped candy as the Americans would say. The recipe ingredients included are peppermint, cypress oil, rapeseed oil, coconut oil and cedarwood. The peppermint gives the soap a really minty smell, which makes it really fresh. You may think that this sounds really sickly and would be overpowering but I found it to be lovely smelling and really refreshing. The soap is really smooth and builds up into a nice lather when wet. It doesn't really moisturise the skin so people who suffer from dry skin might want to use a moisturiser afterwards. Saying that it does make your skin feel quite smooth and I didn't get any dry skin or irritations after using it and it left my skin feeling soft and relaxed.
The bar cost me 4 euros for a block or slice that weighed in at 125 grams, which is just over three pounds in the UK I think. At first I didn't know whether to lick it, bite it or use it to bathe as it smells so candy like, but like I said it is not too strong and not a sickly sweet smell. It is actually a really enjoyable smell.
It is part of the specialist range that Lush brings out for Christmas but I would not have a problem using this soap all year round and at any time.
I would recommend this bar to any soap or smelly lover and it is a really nice relaxing treat to give yourself to wash away the stress of everyday life. It's also very unique and the smell is unlike any other soap.
4 out of 5 stars for me.
Summary: A unique product from Lush
