Lynx shower gel Boost
I really enjoy the shower gels of Lynx and with most shower gels I just know you can't really go wrong with lynx. I like the look of the bottles and normally they have a really nice smell and are nice and fresh. When I was younger we always had Lynx, so it must be why I am positive about them.
All the bottles of Lynx shower gel have the same shape, it's only the colour that separates them from each other. The Lynx shower gel Boost has a strong dark red colour, which makes it stand out from the rest. My favourite is still the orange one, but this one is nice too. The bottle it self is transparent, so the shower gel is actually red. The bottle itself is really nice and flat on the bottom, but the sides are designed that your fingers fits right into it. This way you have a firm grip when you are in the shower. Quiet handy actually.
The shower gel is quite thick, but easy to get out of the bottle and to wash it off in the end. The scent is a little tropical like, which you already expect when you see the dark red colour of the shower gel, but I do love the smell. It's a more sweet scent, with a little bit freshness. The menthol must cause the freshness and the fruit scent more due the guava ingredients. It's a strong scent, but nice and stays for you a little way, even when you got out of the shower.
The shower gel is called Boost, which means you should get a Boost when you are using this shower gel. I think it actually does, but more due the smell of the shower gel. It's a quite strong smell what really wakes me up in the morning but luckily in a nice way!
I like this shower gel and it gives me a nice feeling in the morning with the freshness. The shower gel smells nice but also important it really gives me a clean feeling. It doesn't make my skin dry and the shower gel is easy to wash off. So I would definitely recommend this shower gel!
I love my shower gels, and have got plenty of them. This Lynx product is called 'Boost' and according to the manufacturer - Lynx Boost Shower Gel with stimulating Guava and Volcanic stone "extract excites your body and arouses your senses".
The squeezy bottle is a standard Lynx design. It is see through, with a thick red liquid visible. It looks more like a wizards potion than a shower gel. It has a wavey design and some indents that act as finger grips to stop it becoming too slippery when using in the shower. The liquid itself also leaves some light red stains on the shower basin/bath which easily comes off with a light rub.
Like most Lynx shower gels, it leaves a scent lingering in the bathroom and on your body for a couple of hours. This is a rather masculine smell and isn't quite musky, but isn't sweet either. It's a more neutral every day type of shower gel. Nothing exciting about Lynx 'Boost' but it does the job, leaving you smelling and feeling clean.
RRP is around £2.99 a bottle, but often in Boots/Asda and other high street supermarkets you will find BOGOFs and 3-4-2 deals.
Anyone who regularly reads my reviews will be now very much aware of the fact that I'm back living at home with my parents. I basically lived away from home for rather a while and then moved back temporarily but then I stayed put and I have to say it was the best decision I ever made to squat here and for so many reasons lol.
I always buy my own toiletries and stuff though and as I own so much I keep them in my bedroom and then when I'm going for a bath or shower I grab what I want to use. This also stops my Mother using up my stuff (which she loves doing!).
However occasionally I will forget something I need and usually when having a shower I forget my shower gel/cream! By the point I usually notice I'm dripping wet so I opt to use whatever is in the bathroom already and on the occasion I chose to use this, it was all that was in the bathroom and belonged to my Step-Father! I didn't mind smelling like a fella though after-all it was only to clean up with and go to bed alone after using!
250 see-through plastic bottle with a black flip top lid to the top of it concealing a small hole. There are integrated grips to the side of the bottle in the form of dents for ease of handling and on the front there is a black label and on that I'm told in silver, red and white writing that it is Lynx 'Boost', Stimulating Guava & Volcanic Extract Shower Gel. On the back of the bottle I'm told a little bit about the product, cautions and size is listed (as I've stated already) and contact details for Unilever (the manufacturer of the product) are also listed.
A Bit About The Product According To The Bottle:
Lynx Boost, with stimulating guava and volcanic stone extract excites your body and arouses your senses. Lynx Boost, gets you in the mood....
Me Using It:
Well the gel itself is a dark, rich red colour and you really don't need to use very much of this at all as it lathers up very quickly indeed!
Smell wise I think of this fragrance rather like sea-fresh with a hint of aftershave to it. It's not intoxicating in it's fragrance but it is fresh and very manly I think.
As I have said a little of this goes a very long way and on contact with wet/damp skin it simply froths up beautifully and washes you smoothly.
I managed to shave my bits and bobs with this and it rinsed off easily leaving no residue on my skin and that was that!
This really is a mans body wash and I love it. The smell stays lingering on the skin for a good couple hours but what's more is that it really does clean you up and leave skin feeling smooth and totally refreshed.
I like it, and I would use it again if I needed to and I know my Step-Father loves this one!
Available in all good supermarkets, chemists etc and in a range of different fragrances too and it costs about £2.29 a bottle but this is currently on offer in Asda at 99p a bottle (I know cos I saw it yesterday lol).
The Lynx Boost Shower Gel will definitely get you up in the morning, giving you that boost of energy that you really need.
The shower gel itself smells very fresh and fruity but also has a spicy tone to it which is great to help awaken your senses. The gel also has extract of guava and volcanic stone extract, but to be honest I don't think the volcanic stone adds that much to the shower gel and was probably just used for advertising and people would relate the red gel to an awakening volcano. That said this is a really good shower gel even if there are some better lynx alternatives out there. This is still great for every day use and cleans the skin well, leaving the scent afterwards too.
The shower gel does come in a cool bottle with grooves down the side for easy holding which is a nice touch.
Overall this is a good shower gel from Lynx and will definitely get you wide awake in the morning.
I have been using the Lynx range of products since the mid nineties and remember how the girls went wild for Lynx Africa!!!
I always buy their shower gels when on special offer and have tried most of the range by now. Lynx 'Boost' Shower Gel is one I have had a few times now.
The bright red liquid smells spicy (a bit like frankencense or myrrh) and fruity and lathers up really well with just a small amount, the wonderful aroma continuing throughout my showering experience.
The gel is said to 'invigorate ..... with stimulating guava and volcanic stone...'. It really does give me the wake up call I need some mornings and does indeed invigorate my body. I tend to use my shower gel to wash my hair too and this is fine for that purpose too. It leaves my hair in good condition after use and easy to style with wax or gel.
Overall I really like this product and it definitely has the rigght name, 'Boost', for it gives me a boost. The product is currently priced at £1.00 at Tesco (or 2 bottle for £3, which is a bit weird!!) and £1.97 at Asda, both prices are for the 250ml bottle.
What is it? Lynx Boost shower gel is described on the label as containing "stimulating guava and volcanic stone extract excites your body and arouses your senses". This is a somewhat over-optimistic claim and is clearly carrying on the "Lynx effect" claim. However, the gel does wake you up - see below.
Packaging: The shower gel is contained within a transparent plastic container, with a black lid and small labels on either side of the bottle. The main display panel has the Lynx logo with a red ball with lightning bolts denoting the colour of the shower gel. The back panel gives a description of the product and also the ingredients.
The gel itself: The gel is a thick and gooey translucent scarlet colour. It does tend to stick to the inside of the bottle. The gel is easy to squeeze out of the bottle by removing or opening the black lid. The smell of the gel is quite decieving - you would expect the red colour to smell of fruit, however it is quite strong and smells herbal. It does stimulate the senses and does wake you up in the morning - and I'm not much of a morning person! You also do not need to use much gel to have a shower - only a few mls as the gel readily lathers and covers the body readily.
Overall: This is an excellent product which does help me wake up in the morning thanks to a potent smell. It has also lasted for ages as you do not need to apply much for a shower. I'll be looking out for it again at Tescos when I eventually run out.

Lynx Boost Shower Gel is generally something that my fiancé uses but when I'm being lazy or I'm staying at his unexpectedly then I've been known to use a squirt or two of his shower gels.
This product comes in a plastic bottle with a black & grey flip top lid and the
bottle has lots of little grooves in it which makes it easy to hold when using it in the shower. It has a label on the front and back showing ingredients, how to use it etc.
I simply squeeze out a squirt of the shower gel on to my shower puff and then scrub it all over my body to produce lots of lather. The shower gel has a lovely scent to it, almost a little fruity, and it cleans my body very well all
over without giving my sensitive skin any problems.
My other half did not seem to notice that I'd pinched a little of his shower gel and even commented on how lovely my skin smells (as he seems to do a lot!) and no one noticed I'd used a man's shower gel, or if they did they didn't comment on it!
I would definitely use this again as the smell was very nice and one that lingered on my skin for a good couple of hours. It cleaned me well and I used it to shave my legs with no problems or nicks at all.
A 250ml bottle is available from Tesco stores or www.tesco.co.uk for £1.99 and I think that for this price it's definitely worth a try as I used it in the shower once and it didn't even appear to go down so a bottle should last a good few weeks with daily use.
I am rating this product 4/5 as I did find I needed to moisturise after shaving my legs and with some other shower gels this isn't the case. Other than that I would definitely recommend it.
If you regularly read my reviews you may know that I am quite fond of Lynx products and regularly buy both the shower gels and deodorants from Lynx. In fact I have been using Lynx Products since I was about 12 or 13 and have owned nearly all the different Lynx shower gels or Deodorants over the years. I often like to try a new Lynx shower gel when it comes out and there have been a few very good ones that have been released over the past year or two. Here is one of them.
Lynx Boost is a fairly new variety being one of the ones to come out over the last couple of years. Lynx Boost is a shower gel that is designed to invigorate you and your skin. It contains stimulating guava and volcanic stone extract. The smell hits you on opening the bottle, It has a spicy fruity scent which pulls you in with it's power. The gel lathers well and as usual with Lynx shower gels you really don't need to lather up too much shower gel as mixed with the water it gives you a very decent amount to use. I like the striking Red colour of the shower gel and the bottle looks very smart.
I have been very impressed with just about every Lynx Shower Gel and this one is no different. Lynx Boost gives you some excellent results in terms of fresh smelling skin and it also soothes the skin and gives you a very good feel. Typically this shower gel will give you a decent amount of use due to the fact that it does not need too much when mixed with water to give you a decent result which means the shower gel of course lasts longer. Although the scent does not last as long some other Lynx shower gels it blends well with the deodorant you use with it.
**Compared to other Lynx**
This Particular shower gel has a sharper fragrance than most other fragrances due to the spicy scent. Over the last couple of years Lynx have started bringing out shower gels aimed at invigorating your skin. Others in this range include Fever aswell as the New and interestingly named Glacier Water & Deep Sea Enriched Mint which I will review at some point when I have run out of my latest Shower gel.
I have yet to be really dissapointed with a Lynx Shower Gel and to be honest the only bad Lynx product I have experienced was the Lynx Hair Gel which came out around the turn of the Millenium if I remember correctly. Since then Lynx have released loads of fantastic shower gels and deodorants and Lynx Boost is yet another fine product from one of the worlds leading Men's grooming Companies. Another top product from Lynx. As Lynx products are often on a buy one get one free or some other offer it would be good to give this shower gel a go next time you need to stock up on shower gel.
My wife bought me this as part of a set a few months ago and Ive only just got round to using it as i have loads and loads of shower gels already! as every man knows itsa typical xmas present! anyway i thought it looked a bit dodgy at first asit is bright red and all and i wondered whether it would leave me in red patches after my shower.
~Smell and appearance~
As soon as you open it the smell hits you. It is almost a spicy smell which mght be the guava which i know isnt a spice but a fruit but it may be that that gives it the edge.
The ingredients and flavour of this particular gel is guava and volcanic stone extract. I can smell the guava but what the heck is volcanic stone extract?? Are lynx trying to say there's a bit of volcano in this gel? There is an earthy smell to the gel too which is good for men- we dont want to smell like girls- and overall the smell of Boost is excellent.
The texture is creamy and is lathers up quickly with a little going a long way.
Lynx advertise this product as awakening your senses and being refreshing. This may be due to the menthol in the product which perks you up and is refreshing.
I recieved this as a gist as part of a set but if you wante dto buy this on its own it costs around £2 and can bought everywhere form Boots to Superdrug to Tesco!
My missus absolutely loves this smell. she loves lynx in general and i dont use much of anything else now despite having everything form ted baker to Chanel on my dresser, because she loves lynx andof course i want her to fancy the pants off me which she does whenever i use lynx! She also told me that she thinks there is testosterone in lynx products because that "lynx effect" is irresistable apparently. My advice to all the fellas out there is to buy everything lynx in that case!
My husband bless him, is not the easiest person to buy presents for. Every year that I have been with him my sister has struggled to think of things for him for his Christmas box, even getting to the stage where he now doesn't need to open the present from her, he already knows what he's got!
This year was slightly different though, instead of the Lynx shower gel/body spray set that he normally gets, he was upgraded to a triple shower gel set, with a super quick drying towel and back massager , we tried to work out what he had different so next year he might get another upgrade! LOL.
The shower gel I will now review is - ""Lynx boost, guava and volcanic stone extract"
I hadn't noticed until now that these shower gels have had a bit of modernisation, the bottle in particular being a funky new shape, with there being an ergonomically sound design down one side, perfectly designed for the best grip in the shower.
The bottle is clear plastic, with a black plastic flip lid, this is recyclable, this depends of course on the facilities available to you.
There is some basic information on the front, this being the brand name, product name the "flavour" and a rather manly looking picture of a glowing red ball with shards of light flashing from it.
The gel itself is bright red in colour and is visible through the bottle.
If this was a gel aimed at women I would advise you to squeeze a small amount onto a puff and this would encourage a better lather, but like so many other men out there, this is a girly idea, so please feel free to squeeze straight into your hand!
The gel is nice and think and lathers up well, can't you tell I have been stealing it!
It has a very strong smell, this being a spicy earthy smell, very much a male scent. This lingers for a little will on the skin, but tends to disappear or at least become overpowered by body sprays.
As my husband suffers with eczema, I was a little nervous that this would be too strong for his skin, making it flare up and itch to the point of distraction, this was not, thankfully, the case, this product states that this is a dermatologically tested product.
This gel is nice enough without any undue side effects but doesn't really do what it states it will do. This product claims that the guava and volcanic stone extract excites the body and arouses the senses, lets be honest, first thing in the morning a cold shower has the same effect!
These are available for purchase from most decent supermarkets, for around £1.78.
