“ Brand: Lynx / Creams / Type: Shower Gel / Suitable for: Body „
I live in Japan, a country where it is still quite difficult to buy certain Western products. Baked Beans, for example - there's one supermarket in my city (360,000 people) that sells them, at 3 pound a tin. Other things, cider, for example, is only available through certain mail order companies.
Therefore, there are some products that I always stock up on when I visit home. The first thing in the suitcase is always a jar Pataks Curry Paste, and the second is usually some Lynx shower gel.
Lynx (or Axe as they call it where I live) is one of those products that makes me feel at home. They actually started selling it here about two years ago, but in limited varieties and at least at double the price of a supermarket back in the UK.
Instinct is the one that made the trip this time. It cost about 1 pound in Tesco for 125ml. I'm not sure if that's good or not but its significantly cheaper than it costs me out here. At the current exchange rate it's about 3.50 for the same amount in my local store.
Lynx Instinct is a shower gel. You wash your body with it and I believe it is possible to wash your hair too. I don't - the last time (many years ago, I admit) I used a Lynx product to wash my hair I ended up with dandruff. I use other shampoo.
Instinct has a nice smell - according to the bottle it's "old leather", which in a perfume crossed with flowers kind of way that's about right. To be honest, I'm not a picky man and for me one Lynx variety is as good as another in terms of smell.
Unlike some other Lynx varieties, Instinct has a thick, jelly-like consistency. My only complaint with this is that a lot of it tends to fall on the floor when I start to rub it in. It doesn't just attach itself to your body like a runnier shower gel does. Still, it cleans well and leaves you feeling fresh.
Overall, I'd recommend this product, but not at the prices I have to pay for it!
Linx is a range of products I buy regular as I find them very affordable for my budget and they are good quality too. I find them very good value too, they are such good products and they suit my lifestyle. I always use a lot of gels as I shower more than once a day, mostly twice but sometimes three depending what I am doing that day and if I have been to the gym etc.
This one comes in a black plastic container, it is very easy to hold as it has ridges along the side of the bottle. It was price recently when I bought it from Tesco for just £2.60 with a buy one get on free offer. It has a flip lid, the liquid is a thick gel, it smells really nice and masculine but my wife has used this one on occasions and she has found it to be a nice fragrance too. It is designed for males but women also love this one as some of the female members of my family have used this one too. The gel feels nice and smooth on my skin while I am showering and the smell is very apparent as soon as the lid is pulled back to use.
It cleans and refreshes my skin and it does not dry the skin. It leave me feeling nice and refreshes and only a little is needed to wash my body. It rinses very nicely too with no effort needed. It also rinses well from the sponge that I use to apply this one onto my body. If I am in a rush sometimes I like to have a quick shower and this one I use usually for general showering. The gel leaves a fragrance on my body for quite sometime after use and I more often than not always use a body spray after a shower but I have at times just used this product without a body spray and I have found it is just as nice on my body.
The amount of gel in the bottle is 250ml and so a good amount for the price and my local shop often has this brand for sale for only £1 and so I often buy it from the shop and stock my gels in my bathroom cupboard as it makes more sense but it is not often in stock at my local store and so I buy it from supermarkets, usually when I see a offer at a lower price.
It is a rich gel and a very good quality and the fragrance is not too overpowering for my liking and only a little is needed on the sponge to work well into my body. I recommend this one as I think it is an extremely good product indeed.
I rate it 5 stars.
This is the matching Shower Gel that goes with the Body Spray that i've just reviewed. I also got a bottle of this when I got the Double pack of Body Spray's. I wasn't keen on the Body Spray but I know that the Shower Gels can often be different since they aren't as strong smelling.
This comes in a 150ml bottle and costs around £2.50. May seem expensive for a Shower Gel, but that is more the Lynx brand. This is in the usual black shiny Lynx bottle which has got lots of ridges down the side. This makes it easy to hold with wet hand. The flip top lid is easy enough to open as well. The only colourings on here are sort of light brown colour and the Lynx brand is easy to spot.
The Gel is quite thick and it lathers up well enough against wet skin.
YOu can still smell the odd musky, leather smell from this but at least it isn't as strong as the Body Spray. I thought this was a lot better and would perhaps think about using this again, but it still isn't my favourite of the smells. There is so many other Lynx Shower Gels out there, so although I would use this again if I got this in a present, I wouldn't go out and buy it.
It does the job it's meant to do which is clean you and this bottle seemed to last a good lenght of time as well, but it's just too odd a leathery smell for me to think it is great.
Lynx Instinct Shower Gel
The Instinct shower comes in the familiar plastic bottles of Lynx. Lynx has that typical design in which they are always immediately recognizable on the shelves of the store. This bottle is firm and solid. He is not transparent, but black. The front features the word Lynx in silver with the word 'instinct' in red letters. On the back it states that Lynx Instinct is for the real man with the smell of leather that should bring up your natural instinct: "Charge your animal attraction!". At the bottom are the contact information and the ingredients of the product. Contents of the bottle is 250 ml.
The bottle is about 17 cm high, 3 cm thick and approximately between 6 and 8 cm wide. The bottle fits comfortably in the hand and is ribbed on the sides making it in the shower easier to hold that it will not easily slip from your hands. The cap on the top clicks right on the bottle, so for example if you take on vacation it will not easily leak. The bottle itself is unfortunately not transparent, so you can't see exactly how much you got left.
The manufacturer says that the smell of leather should bring up your primitive instinct, only I find the smell of the Instinct nothing to do with the smell of leather to be honest. I find the smell rather to a certain type of berries. It does not smell sweet, but it rather smell like herbs. I must admit that the smell of this shower gel is very strong and quite last for some time. The colour of the shower gel is red and makes me think of berries or a certain type of blood.
I like this smell of the Lynx Instinct shower gel but to be honest I like more a fruity smell and this one reminds me a lot about herbs. The scent is quite strong and like an hour I can still notice it. The shower gel does make me clean and that's of course very important. It doesn't stick to my body and is easy to rinse off. All in all I give this shower gel 4 stars.
Lynx has a mens range of deodorants, shower gels and aftershaves. They are part of the Unilever company.
Lynx offers different scented ranges. One of the scents is Instinct.
In this range there is the deodorant, anti perspirant, aftershave and the shower gel.
This review is of the shower gel. The scent is described as being that of rare leathers and truly masculine! It is dermatologically tested and will not dry out the skin. Apparently it allows you to release your animal magnetism!
Instinct comes in a black, plastic bottle. The bottle is quite uniquely shaped with its curved edges and little slots for your fingers. The flip top cap conceals a squeezy, dispensing hole.
The Lynx logo and scent name can be found on the front label which has a sort of animal print effect. The back label has the product blurb, ingredients and contact details for Unilever.
Aqua , Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Cocamidopropyl Betaine , Parfum , Cocamide MEA , Sodium Chloride , PPG-12 , Citric Acid , Sodium Benzoate , Limonene , Linalool , CI 14700 , CI 17200 , CI 61570 .
*Availability and Price*
Instinct comes in a 250ml bottle. It is available along the mens toiletry aisle in Boots, other chemists and supermarkets. It retails around £2.30-£2.50 but can often be found on offer.
As much as I love my girly shower gels, my obsession has become expensive! My bathroom and cupboards have also become overrun with Soap and Glory and Radox! We may be moving house soon so I packed up any brand new toiletries and have concentrated on using up half or barely used bottles. I was starting to run low on my girly ones when I noticed hubbys Lynx Instinct sitting in the corner behind the shampoos.
Every Christmas, he will received numerous Lynx giftsets (maybe he should take the hint and wash more often hehe) and they sit in the cupboard until he needs them (not very often)! Instinct is one of his favourite of the body sprays so this was a hit with him. I thought I would use some to save my precious stuff.
I have now used this a few times so thought I would tell you all about it!
I love the packaging! The bottle is simply stylish and easy to grip. I don't have a shower so I use this as a body wash in my bath.
Squeezing a blob onto my sponge, I noticed that the shower gel had a transparent, deep red colour to it. The thickness was quite good and it didn't simply run off my body. The shower gel lathers up well and you do only need a small amount. Once it starts to lather, it becomes a light pink colour and very frothy.
The scent is very strong. I am not certain what rare leathers is supposed to smell like but this is very manly. There is a woody and musky aroma which seems to get strong has you lather it up. Not really suitable for girls though this is a mens shower gel afterall! I personally wouldn't use this on a regular basis as I don't want to smell like a man..its ok for convenience use though!
The shower gel has done its job and allowed my skin to feel clean and a bit moisturised. The scent is strong and lasts for quite a while on the skin. It would be ideal for a man to layer it up with some of the corresponding body spray.
As for the Lynx effect and animal magnetism - well I didn't have any ladies running after me and I didn't turn into a tiger either but that is to be expected..its a marketing ploy!
Coming in at just over £2.00, this is a bit more expensive than the likes of Imperial Lather and supermarket own ranges but if you look around, you may see it on offer at £1.00!

After running out of shower gel the other day, I was reduced or forced I should say, to start using the gels and lotions that we had received in gift sets at Christmas, but would not have necessarily bought for ourselves!
The product I will now review is - "Lynx instinct shower gel".
The bottle itself is very manly looking made from black plastic, with there being grips on one side of the bottle and finger ridges on the other side, though I have quite small hands so these are of no use to me at all!
There is the briefest of information on the bottle, brand name and product name with the statement that this contains the scent of rare leathers.
The lid is a flip top, though is slightly domed in shape, meaning that you can't flip it over to remove every last drop fro the bottle, though again that maybe is just a girl thing to do!
The scent of this gel is really masculine smelling, and does linger on the skin once the gel has been rinsed away, not ideal for me, but at least I was clean!
The gel itself is very thick in consistency and a little goes a long way, with it lathering up beautifully when mixed with some water.
The gel leaves your skin feeling clean and fresh, with no irritation at all, which to me was surprising considering the amount of perfume's that must be in the product, it didn't even irritate my husbands skin and he has eczema.
Price wise this is available from many good stockists for around the price of £2.99, though is available for a little cheaper on www.amazon.co.uk.

This is a lovely high quality product, that lasts for ages but could never be deemed as a unisex product.
