Lynx Shock shower gel is a blue shower gel from the popular Lynx range. The adverts aren't true, it doesn't make you irresistible to women, or incredibly smart. What it does try to do is make you less smelly and slightly more fragrant.
The Lynx Shock shower gel comes in a 250ml plastic container, the product is blue, therefore the bottle has a strange almost chemical blue colour with bits which could possibly be bubbles in it. The container is fairly modern with the dispenser element being front and centre to make it ergonomically pleasing. I preferred the old style Lynx bottles but these appear to be all the rage nowadays and the dispenser works perfectly so this is more an aesthetic complaint than one of practicality.
The bottle explains that this product contains glacier water and deep sea enriched mint. This sounds a bit pretentious, how deep is deep sea and how do they import this glacier water for special use in this product. Anyway it sounds nice and exotic.
When using, the initial sense is that it lathers easily and provides a punchy minty smell, not a natural one but a chemical one, the glue lather doesn't feel right on your body and the small grits in the bottle are to help exfoliate, I have found after using this product that I've needed to use soap as it doesn't take away the dirt of the day fully and I come away with red marked skin, I have had this issue with other Lynx products in these weird and wonderful colours and wonder what chemicals are added to the Glacier water and deep sea mint, as this product makes my skin feel very sore and is definitely not something I plan to use again.
Available in any good chemist or supermarket, it markets at £2.49 but pick the right supermarket during their offers and you can get a bottle for 99p or buy 2 for 1 at the full price.
Overall a disappointing product that doesn't do what it promises and is less useful or attractive than an old fashioned bar of soap. The only reason women would follow me after using this would be to wonder at the amazing pink and white striped man!!! Not a good product, but perhaps due to a reaction with my skin, rather than a more general issue with the shower gel.
This is a review of Lynx Shock shower gel, a product that my husband has been using for the past few weeks. As he neared the end of the bottle I thought I'd have a go at it too just to see what this "Shock" was all about.
He knew straight away that I'd been using his shower gel, even though I'd only had a small amount. I'm not very good at being secretive and probably returned it to the wrong place on the shower shelf or left the lid up or something.
Definitely a morning shower product!
This started a small discussion on the performance of this shower gel. "It's definitely a morning not an evening shower gel," said my hubby. I had to agree. Although the label on the packaging gave it away a bit. It is described as glacier water and deep sea enriched mint. I love mint shower gels as they make your skin feel nice and tingly. And they smell lovely too.
Shock is definitely a manly smell and I only used it to be nosy. To me it smells minty and a bit citrus. I don't like the blue colour of the product but I am sure that it appeals to men.
The shower gel is a decent 250 ml size and clear on the body so you can see the blue gel inside. The label is like a glacier with the Lynx logo bursting through. The lid is black and quite angular with a pop up lid so you can close it if you wish, which is good for travel etc. on the back label, the product amusingly promises unlimited female attention which is not the effect I was after to be honest!
This product was bought as a gift for my husband but it does retail for £1.99 in Superdrug. Best to wait for a supermarket offer really as Lynx is often available for 3 for 2 or similar deals.
Definitely one for the boys but OK for girls to try too. It is a 'Wake up' shower gel that smells so clean and fresh, in a blind smell test I would have said Lynx straight away! The label advised you avoid the eye area which is sensible and it also suggests you avoid other sensitive areas. I will leave that bit up to your imagination!
I can't fault this Shocker from Lynx. It is a nice alternative product to choose in the shower and smells lovely. I think a repeat purchase is likely in our household.
I have been a user of various lynx products since the age of about 12. I have tried pretty much all of their different scents that i am aware of and i have on the whole been very pleased with the consistently high quality products which Lynx have released. So when i saw the new Lynx shock shower gel on the shelf of my local Tesco i felt as if it was my duty to buy and try this new product.
So i got home, unpacked my shopping and had a shower. inevitably i used my new Lynx shower gel; and i think its called shock for a reason ! As soon as the gel hit my body i had an instant coolness and it was amazing! Even after i washed the gel off, my body still felt refreshingly cool, which is perfect for the summer heat ! On the bottle of the gel is states that its ' Glacier water deep sea enriched mint shower gel'. Wether this is the reason behind the cool feeling the gel gives you, or whether it makes no difference and is merely a marketing idea; i really don't know. To be quite honest with you, i don't care either; the end result is what matters to me.
Also the smell of this shower gel is quite impressive, even by Lynx's very high standards. Its quite a unique smell that's hard to describe.. it sort of just smells like.. freshness !
However to me, the smell isn't important, its the uniqueness of the product and the feeling it gives you after you've used it that really makes it different from other shower gels.
I bought this shower gel for £2.25 (225ml) due to its great cool blue appearance, and mint smell. The container is plastic and is really comfortable to hold, it has a plastic flip lid with a hole to squeeze out the gel. The product can be bought separately, or in a box with some deodorant. After using different types of Lynx deodorant before and found it less effective then others. I was curious to see how there shower gel performs.
The gel itself seems to have glitter in it, but don't worry you'll never notice it at all it seems to dissolves when you wash it into yourself. The gel has a very smooth texture, and feels nice when rubbing into your skin. Then gel creates plenty of lather so it does last a reasonable amount of time. The smell seemed really strong for me which am not all bad as it's quite noticeable for a while after you have showered, the smell lingers for a couple of hours before it starts to fade away..
I have found that it can burn your eyes if you apply it too close to your eyes or you use too much on your chest. The gel certainly cleans you that I can assure you, I am not a fan of using it on my hair due to gel burning my eyes with its strong smell. The gel did leave my skin feeling very refreshed and awake. I will continue to use this product until it runs out but I will not be in a rush to purchase it again.
Another great success from lynx. Shock shower gel is possibly lynx's most successful line of shower gel, and after using it a few times its quite clear why.
I am immediately attracted to the bottle of lynx shock, and absolutely love the cool looking blue colour. When i opened the bottle, the smell of mint immediately tingled my nostrils, and cleared my airways. I then began to massage it into my body and it gives you a cooling, tingly feeling and completely revitalises you. It is the most refreshing feeling and completely wakes you up in the morning. The texture of the shower gel is slightly gritty, which really makes you feel like your getting a great wash, as the gel exfoliates your skin and cleans off dirt and dead skin. Its A great way to refresh yourself before a long day. If theres any shower gel out there that helps you wake up, this is it! After getting out the shower you are left with smooth skin, and smelling great, ready for a long day.
I picked up a bottle of this a couple of months ago as it was selling in Tesco for only £1. It was the wife who convinced me to get it due to the good price, as she is all about stocking up on bargains on things that would get used all that. I see her point, but between me and dooyoo I think she takes it a bit too far sometimes!
This is in a 150ml bottle and I think the right price is nearer the £2 mark. It looks likt the Dooyoo picture. None of the boring black plastic bottle on this, the black label is there but it is a bright blue bottle. Then again it is the Gel that is bright blue. Handy to use in the shower with the ridges on the side which makes it easy to grip with wet hands and the lid is easy to open as well.
The Gel is thick and when used on a Sponge it goes a long way and gives a good amount of foam from it. Washes off easy as well and it leaves behind a nice smell. The smell is a soft of Icy smell. So why the name Shock? Well this tingles a bit as well, and even when washed off you get a nice Icy crackling tingle. This wears off preety quick though but the smell is nice and the wife likes it too.
A nice Shower Gel that I would look out for again. I would probably even pay full price for this.
I bought a selection of these when they were on offer at Morrisons, I tend to just buy whatevers on offer, they were OK but not particularily good shower gels till I got to the blue one, Lynx Shock Glacier Water & Deep Sea Enriched Mint, after using this I came out in a very nasty rash over my whole body, two days later I'm still covered in spots and huge welts. It's so bad that someone who saw me thought I'd been in a road accident. It seems, reading reviews around the web, that I'm not the only person to suffer a reaction to these shower gels. I do not have paricularly sensitive skin and have never suffered a reaction to any other shower gel or soap that I've tried.
I brought this shower gel a few months ago and it gave me more than one shock.
My first shock was wholst it was still on the supermarket shelf, morrisons had all 4 of the new lynx shower gels at 60p each which is a great bargain as you cant even get a supermarket own brand for that price so i brought all 4 to try.
These shower gels are designed for men in particular but i always share shower gels with my hubby which does sometimes mean he ends up smelling a bit girly so i thought this would make a nice change.
The bottle states that it contains glacier water and deep sea enriched mint to give a cool fresh feeling that revives you.
The bottle is see through unlike the orignal lynx bottles which were black, it has a black flip top lid which is easy to open even with wet hands, the shower gel it self is a bright metalic blue colour with white grains in it.
Then came my next shock when i squoze the shower gel out of the bottle and began to wash with it and it felt lovely and thick but completely smooth when i was expecting the white bits to be a grainy substance that might have helped exfoliate my skin but never mind i had brought it as a shower gel not an exfoliator and it felt lovely on my skin and lathered up realy well, a lot realy does go a long way,
My final shock with this shower gel came when i rinsed the bubbles off and it made my skin fel very cold and tingly, it was a lovely refreshing feel in the hot weather we had a few weeks back and would be wanderful to wake you up in the morning as this combined with the lovely smell is sure to wake your sences up.
I'm always suspicious of shower gels that claim to do more than wash....and to be honest, that's about all this one does. I bought this on offer (same as most of my products) for my boyfriend a while back, because for some reason he doesn't like using my girly shower gels when he stays over at mine, he says it makes him 'smell like girl' lol
Anyway, so this one looked blokey enough, and it is ok, it lathers up a bit, gets you clean, definitely has a 'man' smell about it, but them smell doesnt linger so the fragrance is only relevant during the time you're in the shower. And as far as i've experience it doesn't have any kind of 'shock' factor, i guess what can you really expect from a shower gel anyway? But, its decent enough, just don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed
I was just about to have a shower this morning when I realised I had run right out of my normal shower gel. I had a quick look round the bathroom for something to use instead and found my boyfriend's stash of Lynx shower gels on the shelf.
I had never tried using a male shower gel before but necessity prevailed and I gave it a try.
The one I grabbed was called Lynx Shock, it is in a strangely shaped bottle with bumps along one side and a larger curve along the other. I found this quite a nice shape actually to hold in the shower as it was easy to grip hold of and I was less likely to drop it or let it slip out of my hands.
The lid on the top flips up and then you squeeze the gel onto your hand. I found the lid easy to lift up and the gel squeezed out nicely which I was very pleased about as I have trouble with my arms and sometimes find I cant get gels out of bottles if they are too thick.
The name on the bottle of the bottle says it is Glacier Water & Deep Sea with Enriched Mint. This was a good name for the gel as it is a lovely deep blue colour and it does smell a bit minty and fresh.
When you start to use the gel it has small bits in it that feel nice when you wash with it like tiny grains of something. It was very refreshing and a little went a long way so I am sure my other half won't notice I have been using his gel.
You get 250 ml of gel in one of these bottles so I reckon it would last quite a long time seeing as you don't need a lot to lather up well.
Once I had dried and dressed I couldn't really smell the scent on me so that was a good thing. I did feel really clean and fresh though.
To buy one of these shower gels would set you back about £2 a bottle (mysupermarket.com).

Every year along with his 'big presents' I make up a hamper of man-treats such as chocolate, a new razor, socks and things for my husband. And it was for exactly this reason I bought the first bottle of Lynx Shock Shower Gel, at the bargain price of £1 from Asda. I think it's good to stock up on Lynx wherever you can when you find it at £1 a bottle (occasionally it's 98p at Wilkinsons) as it's usual retail price is more around the £1.99 mark, or two for £3. So stock up.
The bottle is 250ml like all Lynx bottles, with a black and grey cap, and a body in clear plastic with little studs all over it, which makes it easier to hold in the shower. It's quite modern looking and sells itself on the bottle as being a fresh invigorating shower gel.
The cap is easy to open and close, and the bottle plastic isn't too thick, so it's easy to squeeze out the contents.
The gel itself is very attractive (for shower gel!) it's a bright blue, with a glittery look to it, with little beads in white. It doesn't, however, leave any glittery residue on your skin, it's just a glittery effect given by the pearlised mix of the gel and meant, I assume, to give an icy look in line with it's 'shock' branding. The gel smells great - not quite minty, but very very fresh smelling, not at all overwhelming, and very clean.
The gel when used in the shower as it's designed, turns creamy and stays on the body long enough to wash well, rather than washing away. It doesn't foam up or create a huge amount of lather but that's not really it's selling point, and Lynx shower gels aren't really designed to go foamy and bubbly anyway. The beads are slightly exfoliating whilst also adding moisture and add a great second layer to the gel.
My husband also uses it to wash his hair, which is only about an inch or so long - it may be more drying on longer hair (I say this as a woman who has long hair and could never use a shower gel to wash it with!) but for most men it's an ideal all-in-one, perfect to use for face, hair and body before work or a night out, as it certainly does leave the skin smelling fresh and clean afterward.
It also hydrates the skin leaving it smooth, however for most skins, I'd always recommend following up with a face and hand moisturiser at least (as shaving and using aftershave can be very drying to a man's skin).
The bottle lasts for about three weeks on a daily use which for £1 is great value especially. I think this is a great day to day shower gel and really, when it delivers this well for the price I wouldn't want to go any cheaper, I know you can get shower gels for 15 and 20 pence in the value ranges in supermarkets but Lynx offers that bit more for a still perfectly affordable and fair price.
It's great to see that Lynx are still bringing out some great scents in their range, Africa is a bit retro now and some of their other scents have been a bit less successful, but Lynx Shock is by far my husband's favourite shower gel at the moment and I would absolutely recommend it on the strength of that.
5/5 stars for me, this is a great product.
Lynx Shock Shower Gel, no shocker.
I do like shower gels and especially from Lynx. I like the look of them and more so the smell. They are normally nice and fresh. When I was younger we always had Lynx, so it must be why I am positive about them.
The bottles of Lynx look the same in shape, but it's more the colour that separates them from each other. This Lynx Shock shower gel has a blue colour and really stands out of some of the boring shower gels. Although Lynx got some really green and orange ones, what I like better actually. Anyway, the blue colour stands for freshness. The shower gel contains Aqua and Menthol what should give your whole body a shock feeling. The shower gel has more then 40 ingredients and god knows what they are all for, but it should wake up your body and give it a fresh feeling.
It's not only the shock feeling on your skin, but it's more the smell it gives. When you take a shower with this shower gel, you can really smell the deep-sea mint and the menthol what really smells quit fresh. It sure wakes me up in the morning! I really like the smell because it so fresh and especially in the morning it's like a cup of coffee for me.
Does it really give me a shock? Well no and I wouldn't really like it anyway because I imagine it's like taking a cold shower in the morning and that's something I hate to do. No I like it because it gives me a fresh awake feeling while taking a warm shower. The shower gel smells nice but also important it really gives me a clean feeling. It doesn't make my skin dry and the shower gel is easy to wash off. O and it's not really expensive for the 250ml!
I love shower gels, this one is always bought for me at christmas time and it can be bought either in a box with a deodorant spay or single on a supermarket shelf.
It comes in a plastic container and it has a flip up lid and it has a small hole to squeeze out the gel.
The gel itself is very thick and is easy to apply over the body either just from the container or onto a bath sponge, it lathers very well and smells very nice, it is of very high quality for the price and it is easy rinsable from the body.
It is a good sized container and is 250ml.
It does not dry the skin and is very revitalising and fresh and can easily be kept in a bathroom cabinet or shower shelf or on the side of a bath as it is of a nice size but not too tall.
It has a very good fragrance and it comes in a nice blue coloured container which is recycable and light, it is very handy to take on holiday with you.
It is designed for a easy grip and the design very nice at the front and it is good for washing the body perfectly and is rich when lathering.
It is runs smoothly down the body and makes you feel fresh and clean afterwards.
This is in my opinion for young and older people and it can be found in supermarkets and smaller shops almost anywhere.
It can be priced anywhere from 99p to £2 depending where it is bought but for a single item and the size of this product it is very good value for the price.
I give it a 5 star dooyoo rating.
I highly recommend you to try it if you have not already.
lynx shower gels are probably my favourite brand of shower gels on the market today, and this gel 'Lynx shock' is one of my most used. However it does have a number of plus and minus points to it.
First of all the Positives, This shower gel is relatively cheap you can normally find it for around £1 in most supermarkets which i think is good value for money as it can last you a while.
I also think that this shower gel is very effective in doing its job, washing you and keeping you clean. And that is a fact which cannot be denied. However I do find you have to use quite a lot of the gel in order to ensure this.
While i do think that these gels are nice and fragrant i do think that the title 'shock' is a little misleading. I dont think that this gel 'shocks' you in anyway into waking up. Its is just a pleasant smell.
This gel will remain a favourite of mine but their are better on the market.
