What I love about receiving perfume gift sets for my birthday or Christmas is that not only do you get a lovely full size perfume, you often get some accompanying beauty products in the same wonderful fragrance as the peefumemitself. I love it when I get all these products as it really allows you to layer up on your scent with different products and really keep that wonderful smell all day long that you have it on.
When I received my bottle of Daisy by Marc Jacobs fragrance I got it in a set with this wonderful shower gel as well. According to an article I read, "Daisy the fragrance is fresh and feminine with a playful innocence. It is sophisticated but not too serious. Daisy is bright and alluring with a sense of ease.
Daisy features top notes of wild strawberry, violet leaves and ruby red grapefruit. Heart notes of violet, jasmine and gardenia. Base notes of vanilla infusion, musks and white woods.
The shower gel comes in a simple white tube with a gold screw cap and a simple band of little daisies around it to give it a bit of a design and look and tie it in to the perfume and name. The screw cap is a bit annoying as its not as handy in the shower as an orsinary shower gel with a flip cap lid but then this is a posh shower gel and so has to come in posh packaging.
The product inside has a lovely gel consistency to it and is really nice and thick and luxurious. You can really tell that its a good quality product and when you let it foam up and rub it over your skin it is really moisturising and feels wonderful on my skin afterwards. The smell is absolutely delicious and definitely does stay on my skin for quite a while afterwards which is lovely.
Now, if you were to purchase this on its own, I think its very expensice and probably would not get on unless it came with a perfume. A 150ml tube costs £22 which is very expensive but then this is a nice luxurious treat from time to time.
I got this shower gel as part of a Marc Jacobs gift set. The set contained a 50ml bottle of the daisy perfume, 75ml of body lotion and 75ml of the shower gel. The set itself came in a beautiful gold box with big white, black and red daisies on it and Daisy by Marc Jacobs written on the front in black writing.
I got the set last Christmas and didn't start using the shower gel until the one I had at the time ran out. I've always been a bit wary of shower gels which are linked with a perfume brand as they smell really strong. I thought that it might be a bit overpowering and the smell might start to change during the day. Being a student, I didn't really want to go buy more shower gel when I already had some in the house. So when my old shower gel ran out I started using the Daisy one.
I really like the packaging of the Daisy products and think they look smart and sophisticated. The shower gel comes in a white tube with a gold top. It has gold writing on it and black strip of flower pattern at the bottom. The classic combination of black, white and gold colours is always going to be a winner. The tube sits on the gold top so it is easy to place on the shower or on a shelf. Also, I like the fact that I don't have to shake and squeeze the tube to get product out from the other end of the tube! When you are using a luxury product it's useful to know that there won't be any left hiding in the corners of the tube wasted! The lid of the tube did confuse me a bit to start with as I assumed it would screw off. However the lid does not come completely off the tube, just twists to reveal a small hole in the middle. Even though the hole is quite small, it is not difficult to squeeze the product out.
Despite my original concerns over using the product, I actually came to love it! The shower gel is described as :
"Creates a soothing, rich lather that rinses easily from the skin. Refreshes and conditions while leaving skin cleansed and fragrant. Fresh and feminine, Daisy is a playful bright and alluring scent. Daisy captivates with the luscious freshness of wild strawberry, then blooms with the modern vintage edge of velvety violet petals and finishes with a luminous blend of gardenia and jasmine. The white accords of birch and cedarwood add a bit of intensity."
I always wonder who comes up with the descriptions for these products and scents. I in no way have a talented enough nose to pick up all of the fragrances that they claim are present. However, I can tell you that it smells good! I have used the Daisy perfume for quite a while and really like the smell. The shower gel is perfumed the same but I find it smells a little heavier. This may be because I'm not a fan of drowning myself in perfume so the perfume never seems as strong. The scent of the shower gel does stay on your skin for quite a while. It will fade during the day and usually I notice that it is gone by about early afternoon. This isn't really a problem for me as I don't usually use shower gels that perfume my skin well so I'm not used to it.
The shower gel froths up pretty well into lovely thick bubbles. I use it with a shower puff and feel that using it without one might end in waste of the product. It cleans my skin really well and leaves it feel very refreshed. I have also noticed that my legs in particular have been a lot softer since starting to use this product. This is like an added bonus because I wasn't expecting a moisturising action.
The cost of the product is its downfall. I guess if you want to use luxury products that come with a designer tag then you have to pay designer prices. The set costs about £60, most of which will be the price of the actual perfume. To buy this shower gel individually I have seen prices ranging from £17 to £25. This is for a 150ml bottle, which is bigger than the one I had. I still feel this is a ridiculous price for shower gel! Although I really love the product I personally would not pay the high price. Getting the gel as part of a set is probably the best value.
