I adore Molton Brown products but don't tend to buy much from the brand simply because they're so ridiculously high priced, recently however I've had a few bits and pieces in my bathroom and have been uber-impressed with this Blissful Templetree Moisture Bath and Shower (henceforth known as 'shower gel'). I didn't think it was really possible to justify spending £18 on a 200ml bottle of shower gel, but now I've tried it I need to somehow work it into the family finances as I've honestly never used better.
The appearance is the first thing I fell in love with; the classically designed Molton Brown bottle is obviously eye catching anyway, but filled with this glorious blue liquid it just looks even more special sitting on my shower shelf. The colour is stunning, the photo above doesn't do it justice at all - it's an aqua colour which looks incredibly luxurious and strangely 'clean' (if a colour can look clean), I rather weirdly love the bright silver top too and think it sets off a beautiful bottle perfectly.
Showering using this Molton Brown shower gel is a real experience. The fragrance is out of this world, it's like using a gel textured perfume in the shower! Molton Brown describe the fragrance as being oriental, and I have to say I agree with this but as someone who doesn't ordinarily like oriental notes I'm pretty shocked that I adore the scent of this shower gel as much as I do. It's incredibly strong and has the kind of fragrance that practically fills the bathroom as soon as I open the bottle; testament to the fragrance properties, I'm getting over a nasty dose of flu and it's left me with a greatly reduced sense of smell - that I can smell COMPLETELY the fragrance of Blissful Templetree is pretty amazing, especially considering I had a Lush bath last night and could detect barely anything from the highly pungent Karma bubble bar!
I think the thing I love most about it is the heady and wonderfully blended scent of jasmine, this is my absolute favourite floral note and I'm happy to say it's done beautifully in this shower gel giving it a heady and amazingly sophisticated fragrance. The bottle tells me this is blended with templetree flower (frangipani) and patchouli, but for me it's definitely the jasmine which takes centre stage despite the fact that these other two fragrances are certainly strong enough to be detected and identified. Together they create a fragrance which wouldn't go amiss in a posh bottle and labelled as an Eau de Parfum - simply stunning, and amazingly luxurious when you're used to everyday shower gel smells!
And as a shower gel, well... wow! Honestly the best I've ever used. The tiniest amount on my shower puff covers me in a rich and creamy lather, using a more generous blob makes me look like a snowman! Not that I ever use too much at this price - I adore Blissful Templetree so much that I'm trying to eke this bottle out for as long as possible just in case I'm not in the position to replace it as soon as it runs out! The fragrance is a constant throughout my shower and beyond, and so are the fabulous moisturising properties - something which was apparent from my very first Blissful shower. Even as I'm washing myself I can feel my skin being moisurised, it's an immediate effect which makes the mundane chore of showering seem like a truly pampering experience. The lather is so rich that it feels almost like a lotion, and my skin feels softer straightaway - the effects on my not-particularly-dry-in-the-first-place skin are amazing, without changing anything else in my body care regime I can feel that it's softer and smoother as well as being exceptionally clean.
You know, £18 for a shower gel is scandalous. I know this, but I will DEFINITELY purchase again and am already planning and getting the funds together for a Molton Brown splurge - this shower gel will definitely be finding it's way into my basket as I absolutely love everything about it and it's extremely beneficial for my skin.
Price and Availability
I purchase my Molton Brown products directly from their website (www.moltonbrown.co.uk). Molton Brown also have their own range of shops dotted about the country and they are also stocked in various department stores such as House of Fraser and John Lewis. This product retails at £18.00 for 300ml. Molton Brown occasionally issue discount codes to be used online and I used one for a free shower gel with any purchase meaning I got two shower gels for the price of one alongside the 30ml free sample that comes as standard from the website. I got to choose between two free shower gels and I had a choice of four options for my free sample so overall I did get a bit of leeway to choose products I would use. I like Molton Brown as my special treat and although I think it is expensive ordering it like this means I get more for my money. I don't think I would order Molton Brown without it being on offer.
All Molton Brown bottles are very similar. This shower gel comes in a sturdy, clear bottle with a silver push button top (you push one side down and it tilts to reveal an opening). The cap is embossed with 'Molton Brown' around the sides, this adds to the brands luxury image. It has Molton Brown London written on the front and small writing underneath revealing this particular fragrance in this case 'Blissful Templetree'. The Molton Brown brand is very concerned with it's 'British-ness' and so where it is made features prominently on the packaging and the website. The back of the bottle has the Molton Brown logo, contact details, ingredients list, bar code and a description of the benefits of the product.
The majority of the writing on the bottle is white and unassuming. This means that all the colour of the product comes from the shower gel itself. This is a really nice touch as it allows the consumer to see the product prior to purchase. This particular product is a gorgeous vibrant blue colour reminiscent of cleansing ocean waters and relaxing spas. The product really does sell itself in this case as it's the gorgeous colour and name that enticed me to choose this particular fragrance.
As I just mentioned this product is a gorgeous sea blue colour. It pours out of the bottle easy with minimal squeezing, which is good as the bottle is very sturdy (although not puppy proof as I found out the hard way!). This product is described as being for 'bath and shower' and I successfully use it as both. A small amount under warm running water produces thick, luscious bubbles and an aroma which fills all corners of the bathroom. A small amount on body puff produces enough lather to coat yourself generously and more to spare. The fact that a little goes a long way makes the £18.00 price tag a little more bearable.
The fragrance is delightful. It is a very sweet floral scent but is definitely not sickly. It doesn't smell artificial like some cheaper shower gels and it has subtle strength to it rather than being overbearing. It has a warm balmy feel to it like a relaxed summer evening in an exotic location. The product contains 'temple tree' and 'sea silk proteins' designed to calm 'sun flushed' skin. I can't vouch for the product helping with sunburn as I live in England but this product definitely soothes my skin leaving it clean, fresh and moisturised.
Overall, £18.00 is a lot of money for a shower gel but you get what you pay for. I don't drink, smoke or socialise all that often so a little treat every once in a while is never a bad thing.
I first came across the Molton Brown brand when I stayed at the Grosvenor hotel in Chester. This is when my fascination began, I then went on to buy mini travel bottles from the brand so that I could try different fragrances. Through this travel pack I discovered my love of the Blissful Templetree range. The shower gel contains Templetree milk and mango oil and they leave the skin cleansed and the sea silk soothes the skin. This product intensley moisturises the skin and is very effective as an after sun skin soother. The product is very luxurious and the scent is gorgeous and uplifting. It is wonderful used at any time of day, especially in a morning as it always puts me in a good mood! The product is in a clear bottle with a stylish silver coloured cap and the Molton Brand logo is displayed on the front of the bottle. The contents are a gorgeous turquoise colour that remind you of a crystal blue sea. Overall this product is excellent quality; it leaves the skin moisturised, it is presented in beautiful packaging and the scent leaves you feeling uplifted. The only criticism is that it is very expensive; It is £17 for 300ml. I would say that it is worth splurging on for a special treat. There is also a body lotion available in this fragrance, if you wanted to try out the rest of the range.
I have used Molton Brown products for quite some time at the first time that I came across this was when it was given to me as part of a gift set to was only a small bottle. It comes in a clear bottle with a Molton Brown logo on it and immediately you can see its rich, vibrant blue colour which entices you to it. Once you open the late you are instantly met by this fragrant aroma, which is almost oceanic with a hint of floral scents. The aroma is absolutely divine, and it just smells like luxury. It's also quite a refreshing and light smell so it's not too heavy.
You can use this in the bath or in the shower. In the shower, I tend to use a puff and you only have to put the tiniest dribble on it to make lather up well so a little goes a long way and you can make it last for a long time, which is good, given the fact that it isn't particularly cheap. If you use this in the bath again, you don't need to put great deal in, and you will have plenty of bubbles, and the aroma will fill the bathroom and it's lovely to lay in the bath with all the bubbles in the relaxing smell. As for the nourishing element of the product. I do find it is kinder to your skin than many other products that are so strongly scented I find I have allergic reactions to all of products that have never had a reaction to Molton Brown products.
If you're applying it directly to the skin It feels smooth on your skin and eyes away use it. You will come out smelling of it and this usually last for a couple of hours or longer if you sat in the bath for awhile This product is lovely to use in the bath, and I think it's better in the bath rather than a shower. There are better, more refreshing, Molton Brown products that suit the shower.
As you may have gathered I love my beauty products! I'm always reading reviews, or seeing products in magazines or shops that I want to try, but there's only so much stuff one person can use! Molton Brown's Blissful Templetree moisture bath and shower gel is one product that had been on my wish list for a very long time. I'd first come across it when waiting for a friend and I'd popped into a branch of House of Fraser to keep out of the rain and kill some time. I tend to be drawn towards the beauty section (can't think why!) and I found myself surrounded by a display of Molton Brown. I couldn't resist a sniff of some of the products, and the Blissful Templetree really stood out for me. I loved it, but it's not the cheapest brand around, so I couldn't justify the price tag. Luckily for me, I finally got the chance to try it when I was given a set of Molton Brown shower gels for my birthday and I was thrilled this one was included.
The shower gel comes in a clear bottle with a silver lid embossed with the Molton Brown name. It looks very stylish and classy, but I think one of the best things about the look of the product is the colour. It's the most beautiful shade of turquoise-blue and is a very calming and simply beautiful colour.
Templetree if you were wondering is also known as frangipani and as well as that the product also contains mango oil and sea silk proteins. It is called moisture shower gel as they say it will soothe dehydrated or sun-flushed skin. I can't say my skin is sun-flushed but it is on the dry side, so this product should have been perfect for my needs.
The problem I found with this product is that the smell when in the bottle, for me, was much nicer than when I actually used it. When in the bottle it was a very floral scent with a sort of 'ocean' type fresh undertone. It's lovely and fairly unusual - much different to anything you would generally find on the high street. When I came to use the product though, I found the scent seemed to intensify quite a lot, and having used virtually the whole bottle now, I can honestly say every time I use it, I can't help thinking it smells of patchouli. That's slightly odd because (as far as I can see) it doesn't contain patchouli. I wouldn't say it smells horrible, it's still perfectly OK but it's a little strong and not to my tastes, and very disappointing as this is a product I had wanted to try for such a long time.
On a more positive note, I found that this felt lovely against my skin. I was about 12 or 13 years old when I got my first Molton Brown product courtesy of a relative, and the stand out thing I remembered about the products was that they felt thick and silky against the skin, in contrast to the supermarket brands I was probably used to at that age. I think you can tell from the feel of it that this is a luxury product and it produces a good lather. I tend to use a shower puff to create extra lather, although I have tried without and it still foams up well.
Sadly, after use, I can't say that I have noticed any particular difference to my skin. It doesn't further dry it out, but I'm not sure it's completely hydrating or comforting to my skin either. It does leave it clean though, however I don't notice the fragrance lingering on my skin.
As I said, Molton Brown isn't cheap. A 300ml bottle of this shower gel retails at £17. Crazy money really, and I can't help but feel that the price tag isn't justified. The scent seemed to smell totally different when using it to the way it did in the bottle and it didn't do anything special for my skin. I feel really let down by this product and the more Molton Brown products I use lately, the less I think of the brand. I can't help wondering if they have altered the formula of their products as they are not as special as I remembered them to be. Should you wish to give this a try, it can be purchased from John Lewis.
If you've been kind enough to read my reviews lately you'll know that my older daughter gave me a lovely boxful of Molton Brown 'goodies' for Christmas & I have to admit that I've been making the most of my baths since then!
I think from all the bath fragrances this has to be my favourite so far (but I haven't tried them all yet lol!)
I've always been pleased with MB products as they are beautifully packaged, look lovely in the bathroom & the fragrances are unlike most others because they're more unusual. Unfortunately they are well out of my price range at the moment so I use them as a special treat - it seemed mean to look up the price of this Blissful Templetree as it was a gift but I reckon it's around £16 per 300ml - not cheap I admit - but gorgeous!
This one is a lovely deep blue & as soon as you open the smart silver embossed screw top lid the smell really hits the spot - I couldn't quite put my finger on the ingedients but having now checked the side of the bottle it's enlightened me & I can tell you it contains frangipan, mango, plumera flower extract & citronella oil. This may sound a strange combination but I'd say it works well & I'd say it isn't just suitable for women.
I much prefer having a long soak wherever possible rather than a quick shower but it's suitable for both. It's a lovely thick liquid so you don't need to use much at all to achieve the benefits of this product.
Besides smelling wonderful MB also claim that the ingredients (all listed in tiny print) aim to benefit the body in one form or another - eg the frangipani flower is calming & said to improve blood flow, sea silk proteins which moisturise the skin plus mango oils which cleanse & rebalance the skin.
Well, all I can say is that I thoroughly enjoyed my latest bath & my skin felt soft, clean & smelling terrific. I also noticed that the fragrance lasted for some time after use of my body & the bathroom smelt wonderful.
As you can gather I really love this Blissful Templetree but will have to keep it for a treat because I know how expensive it is!
I'm not going to go on about the packaging, there's not much to say, it's a bottle, it's plastic, it's simple and doesn't fall over too easily in the shower. I want to spend my time reviewing the product not the container.
This 'flavour' of Molton Brown product mekes me smile, breath deeply and relax, its an exotic scent, rich and lush while still smelling natural leaving you in your own little cloud of scrumtiousness. Not forgetting the beautiful blue colour.
Compared to some other higher end products it foams up very well, some of the other more expensive shower/bath products feel like neat water on your skin, and just don't leave you feeling clean. I know the foam may be a placebo effect as far as cleanliness goes, but it does help the puff/sponge/brush/hand etc., glide over the sking in a satisfyingly sensual way. Also unlike some shower/bath products it does leave you moisturised and smelling of the product, leaving the occasional little waft of pleasure behind you.
I am not particularly loyal to products and brands, if I feel like trying something different I will, I actively enjoy being a product 'ho', but this is one product I come back to time and time again.
Ideal for the shower or as a lasting bath foam /
