From the Floriental fragrance range by Molton Brown, Heavenly Gingerlily Moisture Bath & Shower claims to be exotic, alluring and escapist. I'll agree with all of those things, the scent really is different from any high street shower or bath cream and now is the smell of summer for me. It's leaves you feeling fresh, clean and scrumptious. The moisturising properties are excellent also as it leaves your skin feeling so soft. I'm a bit of a miser when it comes to toiletries preferring to buy whatever is on offer.. actually this approach isn't a preference but a necessity in the current financial climate. So receiving a bottle of Molton Brown as a gift was a real treat. I'd heard many of my friends cooing over Molton Brown products but i'd never been lucky enough to try any. Now was my chance! I wasn't disappointed it. As well as the beautiful scent which fills the bathroom if you use it as as a bath cream it also lathers really well and a little goes a long way for showering. I don't use it daily as I like to save for when i'm feel like treating myself with a non chocolate or wine substance! I've had my bottle for over 6 months and have a good amount left so although it's expensive it does last. It also looks great on display on the bathroom shelves. I've rated it as four stars as I feel the scent could be a little longer lasting but all in all I feel it's a worthy premium product.
Molton Brown products are I find a bit hit and miss for me, especially considering how expensive some of the products are, I do however love their shower gels and have tried most of them over the years. The shower gel comes in a clear plastic bottle with a silver screw top that is easy to use and does not leak. The shower gels usually come in 300ml bottles and are priced around £18 each. Heavenly Gingerlily shower gel is soft pink colour and smells delicately of tamanu oil, tuberose, ginger, cardamom, ginger, taget and macadamia. It forms part of the Floriental Molton Brown range and is a fabulous long lasting scent that is very feminine and soft. It is designed to hydrate your skin and it does, as leaves my skin less dry and smelling great. I find that a little goes a long way and that I only need a small amount of the gel to make a good lather in the shower, it rinses off well and if used in the bath, you also only need to use a small amount to get a lovely bath full of delicately scented bubbles to soak in. Overall, although Molton Brown products are on the expensive side, I would say this is one worth paying for, if you like floral scents, it lingers for quite a while on the skin, cleanses and hydrates my skin and lasts for a long time, I will be using this product again.
I was given a bottle of this for my birthday last year as I love Molton Brown products but unfortunately this make is too expensive for me to regularly buy and use. This bottle is a shower gel which can also be used as a bubble bath. There are 300ml in this bottle and it retails at £18, which is not cheap I know. You can order the product online through the Molton Brown website or you can buy Molton Brown items in places like Debenhams and Selfridges. The whole range is just gorgeous and the smells are so strong, it really feels and smells like a luxurious range. This bottle is clear and plastic, and quite solid and round. There is a silver top which is nice and sparkly and is easy to open. The colour of the shower gel is a quite a bright orange with tones of brown in it, perhaps what I would refer to as amber. As soon as the top comes off it smells divine. The ginger smell comes through straightaway and it is very spicy and fiery. The consistency is quite thick and you don't need much of it at all in order to create a fantastic lather on your body. If you're using it as a bubble bath you'll see how many bubbles are created from just a tiny amount. Afterwards your skin will feel very smooth but best of all is the way the scent lingers on your skin. Even better if you can afford the matching body lotion to follow it up with! I think this range is gorgeous. Yes, it is expensive, it's not something I buy on a regular basis but as a treat it is definitely worth it. At least it lasts a long time and you don't need to use much with each application. It means you feel like you're getting more for your money. A lovely product!
I discovered this shower gel from Molton Brown a few years ago by accident when I had been gifted by my sister, and I have not been able to stop buying Heavenly Gingerly since! This is actually surprising as I hate the smell and taste of ginger in any food... However, this scent is quite sweet, not too gingerly, and relaxing. I usually use Molton Brown when I want to run myself a hot bath - and with this product, a little goes a long way! It lathers well and makes your skin super smooth - however, one downside I find with this is that the lathers and bubbles tend to go away quite quickly, perhaps just 5 minutes into the bath... It is quite expensive as with all Molton Brown stuff for the 300ml. Costing around 18 pounds on its own? It is definitely cheaper to get it as a giftset including the body lotion. Recently visited Bicester Village (the outlet village near Oxford) and there is a Molton Brown store there - if you ever have the chance to go, PLEASE STOCK UP! They offer amazing deals there - between 30-50% off for shower gels and gift sets! I had also bought it from Harrods before, and the sales there sometimes give you a little travel size bottle with your purchase. :)
I wouldn't normally stretch so far as to buy Molton Brown products for myself but luckily it has become something that people often buy me as gifts instead. In preparation for our summer holidays I was bought a small Molton Brown gift set with several sample sized products in it for Christmas. Not only are the samples ideal sizes for travelling but they also come in a handy transparent plastic bag which is great for carrying toiletries on the plane in and adhering to the strict rules now in force. One item in the bag was a 100ml bottle of the Heavenly Gingerlily Moisture Bath and Shower gel. Whilst the other products in the set are ideal for taking away with you I realised that this one wouldn't be big enough to last for the nearly 3 weeks that we'll be away for so I decided to treat myself and use it now instead as a little pick me up when my husband was away (it's way too good for him to use every day, let him stick to the Sanex!!). The gel comes in the traditional Molton Brown packagin of a clear plastic bottle with a silver lid bearing the usual logos and information. One thing I always like about MB items is that the packaging always looks appealing, classic yet contemporary, and it is always of good quality, feeling sturdy and substantial. There is a little quote on the bottle "bathe the senses with exotic gingerlily, richly moisturising oils leave the skin refreshed, luxuriously smooth and infused with an intoxicating aroma". This was enough to get me quite excited about using it and certainly raised my expectations as to what results I would get from using it. The screw top lid comes off easily (although personally I always prefer flip top lids on things like this as they are much easier to use in the shower) and when I first unscrewed it and took my first tentative sniff I was quite surprised that I wasn't blasted with a strong ginger fragrance! It's probably just me but I was expecting it to be very gingery given both the name of it and the fact that it is quite a deep orangey coloured gel. But, obviously, it's gingerlily, not ginger and lily, duh! Anyway, whatever it is, it's absolutely gorgeous! I honestly have never smelt another shower gel like it. I tend to prefer the fresher scents rather than foody/floral/fruity ones and this, although it does have a slight floral undertone, is most definitely a very refreshing fragrance. It's difficult to describe but it brings to mind shampoo we used in childhood kind of fragrance. Think Vosene, Timotei etc but with a blend of melon thrown in. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan of melon-fragrance, but this is just a slight background hint. I haven't really described the fragrance very well, but believe me, iit's beautiful! Not wanting to waste any of the gel I poured a small amount onto my shower puff and gave it a bit of a rub with my hand only for it to foam up fantastically! I was honestly surprised by how much of a lather it gave and one small pouring of it (about a 50p piece size) was more than enough to wash my whole body 9all five feet ten of it!). Rather than being a big loose bubble kind of lather it was a nice smooth creamy one which felt great to massage into my skin, making me think that it would provide good moisturisation. Whilst it was easy to apply and felt great on my skin it still washed off easily and didn't leave any greasy or sticky residue which I've found some of the richer shower gels can sometimes do. After getting out of the shower and drying myself my skin really did feel better. I don't normally expect much from shower gels in regards to softening and moisturising my skin, usually relying on body lotion for that. But I was surprised to find that my skin did feel softer, smoother and I didn't feel like I even needed to apply any lotion afterwards. The gorgeous scent also lasted a good long while on my skin and when I gave my arm a sneaky sniff a few hours later I could still smell it slightlyAnother benefit, although a superficial one, was that it left my bathroom smelling fantastic! This is one product that definitely lives up to the claims it makes on the bottle. This shower gel is available from the MB website at a whopping £18 for a 300ml bottle, which by my reckoning would make my small sample size around £6. That, to me at least, is a lot of money to spend on a shower gel. Because I only need to use a small amount I can see this small bottle lasting for much longer than I initally expected (especially since I'm keeping it well out of hubby's reach - he's use the whole thing in two showers!) and I would guess I'll probably get about 3 or 4 weeks worth of showers out of it. But given that you can buy a standard Dove/Radox/Imperial Leather shower gel for around a pound and they would last just as long it still works out very expensive. Having said that, I may well be tempted to treat my bathroom to a large version for when guests are staying! All in all this is a very luxurious shower gel and it feels like a real treat to use. It lathers well, has a great affect on my skin and smells absolutely divine. But for me the price is a big turn-off and whilst I may be tempted to buy this again as either a treat or as a gift for someone else, it's way too expensive to use on a day to day basis and my little sample has been put away again for the next time hubby's away! A 5 star product with one small star knocked off for price.
I was given the Molton Brown heavenly Gingerlily as a Christmas present, which I was really pleased about as I love this. I first came across this on QVC and they used to rave about this particular fragrance and it was and still is one of their bestsellers. I bought a large box of Molton Brown products on one of their special offers, which contained this and whenever they had deals on I bought some of the Heavenly Gingerlily as it really is a lovely product. For some reason they stopped selling on QVC and I was given gifts of Champneys, Elemis and L'occitane as everyone knows they can't go wrong buying me smellies so with such a large stock I haven't bought any bath products for ages. Packaging Mine is in a clear plastic bottle with a silver lid that you press down on one side to dispense the product. This really looks like the luxury product it is, something about the silver engraved lid and the colour of the product which is orangey brown. They have changed the packaging recently to what looks like a frosted can, which I don't think looks as nice The Product You can use this as a bath foam and a body wash . I used this in the bath and poured a small amount in while the bath was running , left the bath to run ( it takes ages) and intended putting more in when I did my final top up with hot water. I like a lot of bubbles so did put some more in, but the small amount I initially poured had created a nice bubble bath. The product is quite thick and is a ginger orangy brown colour , but the product dissolves to clear in the bath. What is so brilliant about this product is that you will only need a small amount to create a bubble bath and probably at a push get away with one small dollop on a scrunchy for a shower. This just creates so much lather that I would need to use 3 times as much of a Champneys gel which I think is really good and much more if I used something I picked up in the supermarket. It feels really moisturising while in the bath and skin feels really soft and hydrated after drying. In the bath the bubbles last forever and don't disappear as you use the same product to wash. It smells really lovely , I can't really liken it to one flower, plant or nut as this is a blend of ginger, cardoman , tuberose and nut oils. I do find it floral , I want to say rose but with a spicy and more tropical scent. It isn't a really heavy scent like a lily , I find it quite light and what is lovely is that the scent lingers for ages even though it is a light scent. This feels like a real treat especially when I have time for a long soak with my head resting against my bath pillow. I have dry sensitive skin and this does not irritate and leaves my skin feeling soft and looking smoother. Molton Brown is instantly recognisable as a premium brand , they started out life in Mayfair and many top hotels use their products. In terms of this particular product I do think you get what you pay for, a luxury bath and shower gel , that moisturises cleans and smells as divine as its name. Would I Recommend Yes . this is a fabulous bath foam and shower gel , with a gorgeous smell which I love. They do lots of other fragrances but this is one of my favourites and I would highly recommend this A 5 star product that I think probably delivers more value for money than you think as you need to use so little and is absolutely gorgeous. Molton Brown products have always had a classy reputation and are used by luxury hotels and airlines and generally by people out to impress the customers! This is oneof the range of choice for guests on luxury boats and luckily I get to try them out! Molton Brown started in London´s Mayfair in 1973 as a hair salon going against the then tide of using synthetic substances. The first products were mixed by hand above their salon at 58 South Molton Street, hence the name, by Dale Daxon Bowers who had worked for Mary Quant. Wishing to follow a more natural plant based path by the 1980´s they were producing a line of plant based hair ,beauty and body products. Heavenly Gingerlilly moisture bath and shower is presented in their understated packaging of clear plastic bottle with a silver coloured top with their name embossed on it . The Molton Brown logo appears on the back of the bottle in a peach shade which enhances the rich dark peachy colour of the gel . When you take the top off the scent to me is both fresh and rich and invigorating and instantly makes you just feel better. Gingerlilly is a tropical plant found in the Himalayas with a lovely fragrant scent and the scent of this shower gel stays with you after use in a gentle fashion and certainly you skin feels nicely moisturised. . You don´t need to use very much to get a nice foamy lather and one great detail is that the bottles have three little bumps in them so that you can grip them easily when in the shower. Good thinking! The draw back is the pice though at 17 pounds for 300ml if it´s for yourself wait for a sale or buy on-line from Molton Brown in one of their sales. They are certainly a little bit special so if you are out to impress this is the one to buy,
For my birthday last week, my colleagues clubbed together and bought me a lovely Molton Brown set which included this 300ml bottle of Gingerlily Bath and Shower Gel. I think the reasoning behind this is because I am three months' pregnant, and love my bubble baths, and because (with the morning sickness!) I am ginger mad at the moment. Because it was a gift I don't really want to put how much it cost, though I have a rough idea - and I know it's not cheap! The bottle is lovely - clear, with a flower motif on the back which shines through the clear liquid. The writing on the front - the Molton Brown logo and the product name, is in white. The cap is in a silver plastic. It looks very nice indeed. The bubble bath (which can also be used as a shower gel, but I prefer shower gels with a pump dispenser, and I'm sure it lasts longer and you get more enjoyment from a bath with a nice product like this) only needs about a teaspoonfull to be effective - a nice, thick, white lather, perfect for sinking into. I really hate thin, oily bubble baths with no 'oomph' to them so I was pleased that this one is nice and bubbly. The smell isn't really very gingery at all, it's more flowery, it's nice, but not my usual scent - if I smelled this in a shop I am not 100% sure I would buy it as I normally go for 'clean linen' type scents - this is far more 'grown up' and sophisticated, and very luxurious - I really like it, and it makes a nice change (my husband likes it too, he's had a bath in it ;) ). It would also be a nice 'couples' scent for couples who like to bathe together because it's not too girly at all, even though it is flowery there is a hint of musk. It leaves the skin very smooth and clean, and nicely soft - not tight at all. I really do enjoy bathing in Molton Brown products, and it was a lovely gift to get from my team, and based on that, I'd definitely buy it for friends as a nice gift - it would make up a lovely hamper, or for pregnant friends like myself, or for someone recuperating after an illness. It's always nice to pamper yourself and I would highly recommend Molton Brown products, and Heavenly Gingerlily Bath & Shower Gel :)
Still making my way through a stack of Molton Brown shower gels I was given last year, I now move on to the heavenly gingerlily fragrance. I first heard of this fragrance several years ago when they used to sell Molton Brown products on QVC and was always intrigued by the name -especially the gingerlily part. Having never heard of gingerlily before, I expected it to smell like ginger, but in fact a gingerlily is a flower, so it's the lily part of the name that's significant rather than the ginger part. As far as I'm aware it contains no ginger! The product is packaged in the elegant Molton Brown design of a clear bottle with silver embossed lid. It's a very simple, yet classic looking design which has been copied quite a lot, so I think that goes to show how popular it is. The back of the bottle tells me that this is filled with richly moisturising oils, which sounded good to me since I have very dry skin and try everything I can to keep it hydrated, otherwise it goes scaly and fish like! It also tells me that it will leave my skin luxuriously smooth. The gel itself is a rich orangey brown colour which does remind me of ginger yet again. The scent of the product is however very floral. I'm not normally good at differentiating between flower smells but I would definitely say this reminds me of lily and reminds me somewhat of a limited edition soap that Lush brought out called Lily Savon- only this shower gel smells much more intense. Whilst I do think it's a nice fragrance I find the floral a bit too strong for my tastes and I think I would prefer a more toned down version. When it came to using the product, I found that it was quite a thick consistency and came out of the bottle very slowly. Although the thickness of the product goes some way to indicating its quality, it can also be a bit of a pain in the neck to dispense - especially when you're getting towards the end of the bottle. The gel lathers up quite well on it's own and gives a fairly thick, creamy feeling lather. I do tend to use it with a shower puff though, as that way it creates more lather with less gel, making a bottle go further. When using this, the smell really comes out and it smells even stronger than when it's in the bottle. I suppose that would be great if you were a fan of the scent but for people like me who find it a bit heady it's not ideal. I have found that after washing with this it does leave my skin really soft, so it feels quite nice to the touch. I really appreciate that as it's not something you tend to find with cheaper shower gels. I wouldn't say it is hydrating but it doesn't dry out my already dry skin, nor does it irritate my eczema. Molton Brown is a premium brand and this product comes with a premium price tag. A 300ml bottle will set you back £17 in John Lewis, which I feel is extortionate for a shower gel. Although I liked how this made my skin feel, I thought the fragrance was too strong and the price tag too high for me to want to use this again. Another Molton Brown shower gel which I unfortunately have to report is 'Just OK'.
