As a word of warning, expect quite a lot of Molton Brown shower gel reviews from me in the near future as I was given a set of ten of them as a gift and am trying to get them used up! This is the second one I have tried, the enlivening Toko-Yuzu gel (not Toko-Yuzo as above).
Now my first thought was what is a Toko-Yuzu?! I thought it sounded like the name of a place, but apparently it's an oriental fruit with the latin name of citrus junos, which according to a google image search looks sort of like a round lemon. The shower gel also contains mandarin, bitter orange, ginger and caraway and they say that this combination of ingredients will 'refresh and excite the mood'.
The shower gel is packaged in the standard molton brown packaging - sturdy clear bottle with silver lid which is embossed with the Molton Brown name. It looks simple but classy, and the bright yellow gel looks nice when the light catches it.
I think the main plus point of this product has got to be its scent. As I have found with many Molton Brown products this has a slight spiciness which I'd assume comes from the ginger, and as such I think it would be suitable for both male and female use. As you would probably guess from the ingredients it is also quite a citrussy fragrance, however I'd say that the spiciness overpowers the citrus slightly. It's a lovely scent and it does smell quite luxurious.
The shower gel is a lovely dark yellow colour, quite a thick consistency and feels quite silky and nice against the skin. I've found that it produces quite a good lather, however to get a really frothy lather I tend to use it with a shower puff. This way I get more uses out of each bottle as well which makes it last longer. The scent of the product really comes out when I'm using it, and I can often still smell it in the bathroom hours after using it.
After using this, I can't say I have noticed any huge difference to the way my skin looks or feels, I suppose the biggest thing I notice is the scent. It really lingers on the skin, often several hours after I have used the product I can still smell it on my skin, so for a shower gel it really is a strong scent.
There is no doubting that this is a nice shower gel. It smells lovely, the scent lingers and it feels good against the skin so it's nice to use. I suppose the main problem for me is that it costs £17 for a 300ml bottle and like the last Molton Brown shower gel I used, I just didn't think it was worth the price. Like I say it is a good product, but I've used fantastic shower gels that only cost £1 and there was nothing for me that made this stand out as being worth £17 unfortunately.
