Fresh, natural shower gel from Organic Surge.

I've been a fan of Organic Surge products for a while. The range includes products made with high-quality ingredients which I find to be genuinely good for my skin, and doesn't contain any parabens, artificial perfumes or chemical nasties. It's also suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Tropical Bergamot Shower Gel is one of my favourites as I love fresh, citrus scents. (it won't post the whole review, sorry!)

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A beautifully fragranced shower gel from Organic Surge which is also good for the environment.

I love citrus aromas, with bergamot one of my very favourite scents. At Christmas I received the Organic Surge Tropical Bergamot Shower Gel as a "Secret Santa" gift and I was delighted with it. I usually use Soap and Glory's Clean on Me in the shower but was happy to switch to the Organic Surge product purely on the basis of the aroma.

        ~~Organic Surge~~

Organic Surge produce products which are natural - there's no sodium lauryl/laureth sulphate or parabens, no artificial fragrances or colourants and no genetically modified ingredients in them.

Each product is certified as a natural and organic cosmetic by ECOCERT and the company also donates money to help children living in poverty in Africa.

        ~~Tropical Bergamot Shower Gel~~

The shower gel comes in a clear plastic tube which holds 250ml of product. The gel itself is a very pale shade of yellow but looks transparent when you squeeze it onto a sponge.

Although this is described as a gel, it's quite runny in consistency for that term really. You get a citrus hit as soon as you open the tube, with the lovely bergamot aroma being particularly prevalent.

The RRP for this product is £3.99.

        ~~My Thoughts~~

I have been impressed with this shower gel - so much so I plan on purchasing another tube when this one runs out.

The shower gel is easy to lather up although I have noticed I do need to add more to my sponge for a luxurious lather than I have to do with my Soap & Glory product. One heavy handed squirt releases a enough product onto my sponge for a good lather but two makes it far more luxurious.

The gel contains not only bergamot essential oils but also organic sweet orange essential oils and Organic Surge encourage you to breathe in the aroma from these oils to refresh you. I find the aroma is lovely but unlike so many bergamot fragrances you can really tell this isn't a fruit fragrance in the Organic Surge product - it's very obviously come from a plant! I really like this as it is far more authentic than many other bergamot scented products I have used in the past.

The shower gel contains glycerine to add moisture to the skin and while I can't say in all honesty it's as good at moisturising my skin as the Soap & Glory Clean on Me is, my skin doesn't feel or look badly dried out when I use the product. I do however feel the need to apply a moisturiser more than I do with the Soap & Glory gel. The tube claims the shower gel contains natural antioxidant vitamin E which in conjunction with the bergamot essential oil helps to "soothe any skin irritation". I must be honest and say I took this claim initially with a liberal pinch of salt but having used this whilst putting up with a minor skin irritation I have been delighted to see it disappear.

What does let this product down however is the fact the aroma really doesn't linger much at all. I have used the Body Shop shower gels in the past and been very impressed at how the fragrance hangs around in the bathroom and is noticeable on the skin when I step out of the shower but neither is the case with this product. An aroma does linger on the skin a little but it's not that of bergamot and more just a generic smell of soap.

        ~~Conclusion~~

Overall I have been impressed with this shower gel although if I am honest it's not as good as my usual Soap & Glory product. Where it does win for me however is in the good intentions of the manufacturer in producing a shower gel which is good both for the body and for the environment, and maybe it's silly of me but that does give me a feelgood factor when I use this.

Price wise this is a little cheaper than what I pay for the Soap & Glory product but you do get less and need to use more. This is worth considering if you are on a budget.

I am really pleased with this gift however and will buy this again because I love the aroma most of all - I just wish it stuck around a little longer.
